  1. Thanks Ladies. Jacquelyn replied and the latest would be on a Tue for a Fri Ceremony.
  2. thank you ladies! I'm positive I'm going the evite STD route then will send out formal invites afterwards. Majority of our guests are tech savvy so it's not a bothersome. As for the parents they actually wouldn't mind at all. They prefer word of mouth and usually don't care about the paper STD. I figure this would help us in our budget. I read on here that mywedding.com has e-std's so I will look into this and go this route. Thanks!
  3. Has anyone done evite STD's? I'm thinking of going this route to stay in budget. I figure the STD's are informal so an evite would be fine. If I do I was looking forward to adding some youtube videos of the resort and other miscellaneous information. If you have please share your experience. Thanks!
  4. Hello All! I'm very excited to have found BDW and it has tremendously helped with some preplanning. We have finally decided on the resort and date for our DW. We have selected Friday, May 16 2014 as our symbolic ceremony at Barcelo. We are unsure which resort exactly. We are still in the preplanning stage and once we have all this finalize hopefully we can book our date in June when the airfare comes out. Any other May 2014 brides out there?
  5. Congrats! I'm a Barcelo Bride for May 2014. I'll be following this thread as well to see what are the updates.
  6. I'm a 2014 bride as well! So excited!!! We have finally decided for Barcelo in Riveria Maya on May 16, 2014. We haven't decided which resort yet but most likely Colonial/Tropical or Palace Deluxe. Congrats to you all Brides! Any of you ladies a Barcelo Bride for may? Would love to start networking with you all and maybe even have a drink or two while there. Lilly
  7. Question regarding residency before the ceremony. Since I'm having a symbolic ceremony the email response I received from Jacquelyn stated 2-3 days prior to the ceremony. I'm having the ceremony on Friday. Would the day I fly in count as a business day or the next day? For example, I'm having the ceremony on Friday would I need to fly out on Monday and then Tue is the first business day? Or I would be ok to fly in on Tue? I can email Jacqueln but probably won't hear from her for a few days or weeks since the date is not on hold yet. Thanks ladies.
  8. Yay!!! The FI and I finally decided on Barcelo and our Symbolic ceremony is set for May 16, 2014. I'm super excited!!! We haven't decided which resort we are staying but most likely Palace Deluxe or Colonial/Tropical. Any May 2014 Brides out there yet?

  10. Hi ladies, I didn't see in the wedding price if the chuppah was included or is it an extra cost? Thanks.
  11. Hi Ladies, I'm considering doing a TTD after my wedding in Riveria Maya. Before i start contacting local photographers I'm curious what is an average price for one of these sessions? I know it will vary from photographer to another photographer but I'm trying to find out if it will fit into my budget. Thanks!

  13. So frustrating with planning our wedding and having to work everything within our budget. Our Budget was $10k for 1 week but after configuring out how much wedding package/resort/etc we up it to $15k. However we don't think this is enough. Here's a rough estimate breakdown: $7k AI for 6 adults for 1 week - Myself, FI, My mom, His mom, his dad, and step mom ( there goes half of our $,,, sighs. ) $5k for wedding reception/decor/ceremony (estimating 30-40 guests) $3k Miscellaneous things - Welcome bags, welcome cocktail, invites, std, tip, etc. This doesn't include our honeymoon or rings. We are not having a photographer or videographer. We are having the BIL use our DSLR to take photo's. There will be no honeymoon and it will be on a separate occassion. I am doing my own makeup and hair. So there's a lot of of things I can cut costs. I have discussed with the FI that maybe we shouldn't pay for our parents but he insist that we do. We are asian so we are obligated to pay for them so there's no way of getting out of the $7k. It's really a bummer cause it's eating half of our costs and the FI won't go any higher than $15k. We are still in the planning stage so will see how we can work on this budget. =)
  14. Hi ladies, Would anyone know if the Blueberry Package has a dinner reception option? If so I'm assuming it's inside one of the a la carte restaurants. Also what is the max people for this package? I have the wedding package info but it doesn't state if there is a dinner reception and what the max info is. If anyone knows I would appreciate it. Thanks!
  15. Hello Past and Future Brides of Barcelo! I'm so excited. I have selected Barcelo as one of my top 3 resorts to have my symbolic ceremony and reception. I've read 70% of everyone's information, advice, and tips and I appreciate it all. Now I just need to decide which wedding package I want! Ugh, I really want the beach reception however we are expecting roughly 40-50 guests and this will be out of our budget. I will be popping in and out of this thread for more information. Thanks Ladies and congrats to all!
  16. Hello Past and Future RIU Brides! I have chosen the RIU RM as one of my 3 resorts to be married. I'm very excited and congrats to you all! I read 70% of this thread and there were some very helpful tips, advice, and information. Now I'm narrowing down my selection and need to make a decision of which resort I would like to have my symbolic ceremony. the FI and I is planning a May 2014 destination wedding to the RM area. I've seen quite a few photo's of the amazing weddings however one thing that I don't really see. It looks like the ceremony is on the beach however it's still not near the ocean. I really like to be as close as we can to the ocean. Does anyone know if this can be accommodated? Does anyone have any more ceremony photo's? Or it's a set location and don't have a choice? I've seen a few photos and they were most likely in the middle of the beach with a fence and there were onlookers in the back photos. I don't like this and prefer it to be as close as we can to the ocean with no onlookers in the background of the ceremony location. The sides are fine as it doesn't bother me. Another Question: The dining menu in the a la carte restaurants. Are they the same menu as the restaurant or is it a different menu you select? I would appreciate any past brides experience on this. Thanks! Lilly
  17. It's up to you to choose which date to celebrate the anniversary date.
  18. Hello, Would anyone have a contact for an independent Officiant in the riveria maya/PDC area? the FI and I are having a symbolic wedding and we're looking for alternatives besides the resports officiant. Thank You!
  19. Congrats! I'm planning a May 2014 wedding in the Riveria Maya area as well. It is overwelming however I have 3 resorts as my top 3. They are Barcelo, Riu, and Iberostar. My Travel Agent is still getting group rates so I'll decide from there. Good Luck!
  20. Hello Past and Future Barcelo Brides! I love this thread and there were a TON of very informational tips and advices. I'm planning a May 2014 destination wedding for Barcelo. I'm still getting quotes from my TA so it's not set in stone yet. Is any bride getting married on May 2014? If so I was thinking did anyone want to split the Photographer two night fee? I'm thinking of an outside vendor but not sure yet til my airfare/resort is book yet. Once that is book I'll have to decide on the date and will have to coordinate. You're welcome to PM me if you're interested and we can see if our dates will work. Thanks!
  21. We chose a DW for many reasons. - Budget can be stretched a little bit further - Limit our guests count -Want a Wedding/Honeymoon all together -Beach ceremony -Love traveling so prefer a intimate wedding -FI didn't like an idea of a reception to hold over 200 guests. and other various reasons. But those are the main ones.
  22. If you're not working with a Travel Agent then your guests are responsible for booking their own airfare/hotel. If they don't know how to do it online then you will have to help and get the cheapest flights for them. I'm currently working with Beach Bum Vacations and waiting on a few options.
