  4. Congratulations on your engagement ladies! Yes @lilpbc you will want to arrive no later than Tuesday if you're having your symbolic ceremony on Friday. Depending what time your flight arrives on Tuesday, you will want to have 2 full days to meet with the on site wedding coordinator. Travel packages from Canadian gateways will not be out yet for March 2014, but should be soon in the next coming weeks. Good luck and happy planning everyone! -Jill Tran
  5. Hi @onelilndn, Congratulations on your engagement. From my understanding, for a civil/legal ceremony to take place you must: Present the following documents in person or by mail to the Dominican Rep. Consulate or Dominican Republic Services (a company in Toronto which assists with the paperwork and legalities for getting married in the Dominican Rep.): Valid passport (if sending by mail, send a photocopy of the page with the picture in it) Original birth certificate that includes the names of the parents. (translated in Spanish)* Single Status Affidavit (translated in Spanish) (One per person).* Divorce Act (if married before) (translated in Spanish).* *This document must be translated to Spanish and legalized by the consular section of the Embassy. The two Single Status Affidavit and the Divorce Act, have to be legalized by the Legalisation Section of the Dominican Consulate. The cost of the legalization is US$75.00 per document and can be paid cash, if presented in person, or by money order payable to the Dominican Republic Consulate if sent by mail.. Once received, the procedure will take approximately 5 business days, then the documents will be mailed back to you. Please note that all documents except the valid passport, must be sent in original. No faxed copies or photocopies will be accepted. Please include a prepaid return envelope. There is no waiting period or minimum stay. No blood test is required. Witnesses: You will need two witnesses. If you provide witnesses, they will each need to bring their passport. Hotels can also provide witnesses. You may want to also contact your wedding coordinator in destination to see if he/she can help in anyway. Good luck! -Jill Tran
  6. Thanks for sharing @beyondsmitten!! I love how this is so detailed, will definitely be using this with my clients! -Jill
  7. Congratulations to all you awesome brides! The Now Sapphire is a very good choice, they have great wedding packages and the Tequila Terrace location for a reception is beautiful! Jenbd817 - I'm sure you are already aware, as this forum is filled with great information, make sure you check with your WC / TA to make sure you have all the necessary documents, and that you will arrive in destination the right amount of days before the wedding, as you will need to do some paper work and meet the WC / Minster / Justice of the Peace etc. Good luck! -Jill Tran
  8. @CarolinaGomez - I don't see the Vow Renewal package on their website, where did you see that? I know the Remember package (non legal) is minimum 20 guests. http://www.bahia-principe.com/en/hotels/riviera-maya/resorts-tulum/weddings -Jill Tran
  9. @micflair, that's so funny, I was thinking the same thing a few days ago. I actually have quite a few grooms who are arranging the travel reservations through myself, but it's nice because it gives the bride more free time to look for dresses and focus on the rest of the wedding! -Jill Tran

  13. Hi 11-30-13-Bride and Melnryluvco, Congratulations on your engagement! The Now Sapphire is very good choice! Make sure you check with your TA to see if they give any free / complimentary nights when making your group reservations. Also, if you haven't choosen a particular resort yet, you might want to take a look at any of the Palace Resorts, like Moon Palace for instance, they are currently offering a $1500 resort credit to the bride and groom! Not to mention that their wedding packages are GORGEOUS, but why wouldn't they be, they're designed by Colin Cowie himself! Good luck on all the planning and I wish you ladies all the best! =) -Jill Tran
  14. Congratulations on your engagement @SweetDreams82! The Iberostar resorts are a great choice, a family friend of mine actually got married there a few years ago. The wedding coordinators usually take a while to respond, especially at this season since they are super busy with weddings. For symbolic (non legal), just make sure you check with your onsite wedding coordinator when you should arrive, usually its 2-3 days in advance. Thanks, Jill
  15. Your wedding looked AMAZING. Who made your wedding dress? And love the "crazy" part near the end of your wedding there, looked like so much fun! -Jill
  16. Thanks for sharing that information with us @KatyaNova, these lanterns are so gorgeous in pictures but who knew the damage it could cause. I will definitely make sure I recommend all of my brides to go with the Non Wire ones, if they choose to go that way, and I'll direct them to your site. Cheers! -Jill T
  17. LOVE LOVE LOVE this idea so much! Thank you for sharing your great ideas, gives me great inspiration! -Jill
  18. This is such a great idea, thank you all you awesome ladies for sharing this! This is definitely something I will be passing on as ideas to my clients! -Jill
  19. The Royal is a great resort, true 5 star with luxury amenities and also great location like others BDW brides have mentioned. If the Royal Palace is in your budge you might also want to check out any of the Paradisus Resorts also, there's 2 in the Riviera Maya, (1) the Paradisus Esmeralda which is family friendly, and (2) the Paradisus La Perla which is adults only. They have beautiful wedding packages available as well. Congrats and Good luck with all your wedding planning =) -Jill Tran
  20. Hey worstbride, Congratulations on your engagement! For the prices and information for massages, hair and makeup you can contact [email protected]. I have never used their hair and make up services but their outdoor massages were great! Do you have any pictures of the Hammock location? Just curious how that location looks, I have clients getting married there end of this year and would love to see some pictures of the different locations. Cheers! Jill Tran
  21. Congratulations on your engagement ladies! Yes I agree, the GBP is a great resort, lots of things to do, bars, restaurants etc. Tis the wedding season so the on site wedding coordinators will be quite busy setting up weddings, so usually my emails don't get answered utnil about a week or so...and just like you I'm also impatient! STBEngelquist : Good thing you sent out your save-the-dates, its definitley a good idea, that way at least your guests will be expecting to be attending a destination wedding. Some of our clients even send ou a "Save-the-Month" invites! Once you get your group pricing from your travel agent/wedding coordinator, then your guests can start booking their travel. If you're planning to get married at this fantastic resort May 2014, package pricing may not be out until the end of April or even May 2013...so hang in there! I have dealt with both Paloma and Eugencia at this resort and they are great, just like the rest of the staff here. Good luck!
  22. Hi Brigitte aka BG2013, Congratulations on your engagement! The Gran Riviera Princess Resort is a great resort, you'll definitely be happy. Lots of restuarants and bars to choose from and they have a great animation team that keeps everyone well entertained during the day in pool, on the beach and give great performances in the theatre nightly. I always advise my Canadian clients who will be having a symbolic ceremony in destination, to arrive at least 2-3 days before the wedding just to make sure you have time to meet with the Wedding coordinator and get things in order. If you change your mind and decide to have your legal ceremony in destination and go with the Royal Package, remember that you have to be in destination 4 business days before the wedding. The reason for this is because you will have to meet the Judge/Justice of the Peace and get your blood tests done. You will also need to bring a copy of your birth certificates, passports, tourist card (which they will give you on the plane), and have 4 witnesses. If either of you have previously ever been married, you will need a Non Marriage License which is about $200USD, and will need to provide your divorce certificate as well. Hope this was helpful, I wish you all the best of luck! -Jill Tran
