  1. That's crazy. We were planning on 30 people too but when we sat down to actually list everyone it turned out to be about 50 (we're secretly hoping some of them will say no hahah, how mean). I'm sure my budget of 15K will get blown out of the water as soon as we start the actual planning. So far I'm trying to over estimate how much everything would cost, just so we can have some wiggle room. On the plus side, I'm one of those frugal brides and I refuse to pay more than I have to for anything, especially if it's not a central part of the wedding. I'll either find it somewhere else on sale or try to make something similar myself.
  2. I'm wondering if anyone's fiance/husband wore a black suit or tux in Mexico. Was it too hot?
  3. Hi everyone, I just started looking at the beach palace as an option but their website information on their wedding packages is so confusing. I'm looking at either the complimentary, nautical or pure package but i'm still not clear on what the difference is (aside from the price haha). I'm thinking we'll have anywhere between 40-50 guests but I noticed that their packages are for 30 people. How much is per extra person? Is the reception included with these packages or how much is it extra? If anyone has any info that could help me out I would really appreciate it
  4. Si! tambien soy de argentina, aunque vivo en Canada. Creo que voy a tomar mis chances y meterme al agua con el del casamiento. Igual tengo mucho tiempo para decidir
  5. Hi, my fiance and I are planning a site visit to a couple of hotels in April. Did you tell them you were coming or how did you set them up? Thanks for the help!
  6. After looking at your underwater TTD my fiance and I decided that we want to do that. I'm also on the fence about buying another dress because I'll be wearing it again when I go to Argentina to see my family that can't make it to Mexico. Would going into a cenote be safe for the dress and would it look ok after dry cleaning it? It would be awesome if I could wear the same dress 3 times
  7. All the best to you! I just started planning and I know that my wedding package and airfare and hotel alone are probably going to be at around 6K. We're thinking of having about 40 guests with a budget of 15k. I'm also thinking of doing a lot of things myself to save some money, because I like it and because it helps me feel more in control when everything is being done for you so far away. It will be somewhat of a stress reliever .
  8. Thanks, I'm actually thinking of going for the Gran Caribe or The Royal. Apparently their photographer is not great, so that's why I was thinking of an outside vendor. Although 2200 is a bit too much for us too. I might end up with dreams, so who knows. It's good to know that their photographer is good.
  9. I attended the webinar today for the hotel that we want (Gran Caribe/ The Royal) in Cancun and they said that the officiant for symbolic ceremonies at their hotel is $100. I'm not sure what hotel you're thinking of going with, but that might also help with your decision.
  10. I haven't looked into all of the prices yet because my wedding is so far away, but I'm not changing my name, so it'll be the price of the certificate and the license. From what I've found they're less than $100 each, plus whatever the officiant charges. It's still cheaper than Mexico, at least for me without the name change.
  11. That's a pretty dress! I don't know if I can pull it off, but I like it. Sadly Canada doesn't have JC Penney's, but I'm sure there's a way around that if you really want to
  12. Hi everyone. So today I surfing online and i went into www.sears.ca and I found that they have wedding dresses, for less than $200! I thought I would share with you guys. I don't know how well these gowns fit, but they're probably ok at least for a TTD session if you don't want to trash your original one. They also come in petite sizes, which is awesome, at least for me measuring 5 feet. I think they have plus sizes as well. My wedding is still too far away, but I think some of you might benefit more immediately .
  13. I have a pretty dumb question. I'm pretty short, only 5' or 5'1 on a lucky day. If you don't buy a sample dress, do you still have to send it in to get hemmed, or do they make it for your length? I see a lot of dresses with beautiful details at the bottom, but that would be gone by the time alterations are done.
  14. Totally agree. We chose Cancun because of the variety of things to do for our guests and the price. We wanted the nightlife close, so that's why we chose Cancun over Mayan Riviera. If you're going more for the relaxed atmosphere, I think the Riviera is a better choice, although personally I've never been there. We loved Punta Cana and the beaches are much better, but it is too expensive for our guests to come down. I find that you can get the same level of hotel in Mexico for much less. The Mayan Riviera is just beautiful, why wouldn't someone want to get married there?
  15. I had cups sewn into my grad dress. I wasn't a big fan. Sure, I didn't need a bra, but they just move weird and they don't really look natural. I think the bigger your breasts the more forgiving these cups are. I'm a 34A so I don't think I'll be going that route again. As for keeping them up, I don't really have anything to keep up so I can't answer that question haha, sorry. How about getting them sewn in and then if you don't like them you take them off?
  16. you mentioned Del Sol photography, does anyone have a rough idea of the price of their packages? I'm trying to put together a sort of budget, and we want to know how much we should set aside for a photographer. I love Del Sol's work, but I'm not sure we can afford them.
  17. I agree with previous posts. Guests can entertain themselves for an hour, especially when you are at an AI, they can go for drinks or food on their own. Another option is to have your pictures taken before the ceremony. I was reading a blog post from a photographer, saying that they love to capture the groom's reaction when they first see the bride, which is not always possible when she's walking down the aisle because all the attention is on her. He also mentioned that you get to spend more time with your guests. I don't know if you're up for breaking the tradition, but I'm definitely considering it. I want his reaction on pictures
  18. Putting myself in their shoes, I'd be a little disoriented with where to start. Giving them a color will really help them narrow it down. They don't even have to be the same color, they could be different shades of the same color, or if you're going for bright colors, each one wearing a different bright color. It would still reflect their style, but it makes sure that you're still the centre of attention on all of the pictures. Imagine someone having a red dress, the next one a blush dress, etc. It just looks distracting, that woud be my concern as a bridesmaid of someone who lets me wear whatever I want with no guidelines.
  19. I don't think you're crazy. I'm just choosing the color but letting my bridesmaids decide what kind of dress they want so they can choose something that reflects their style. I think you should give them something to work with, like your colors. If someone told me, "pick whatever you want" I would be a little lost, and my first concern would be that I don't want to overshadow you or pick something that will be the focus on the pictures, on your day. That's a big nono.
  20. Congrats on setting a date already! I'm thinking of visiting the Now Jade in April on our trip, the price for the rooms is quite reasonable. I'm also looking at the Gran Caribe real in Cancun so we'll see who offers the best for the least amount of money
  21. Hi ladies. I'm wondering if anyone knows whether this hotel offers open bar and at what extra cost. Thanks!
