@@andreaberretta great info! I look forward to know what you find out. Our reception will be running to the max allowed at 11:00 pm so we need to find another venue to continue partying haha. Does anyone know if we get refunded the $1700 if our wedding can't be held at the terrace due to rain? It would be double sad if we're not refunded, let alone unfair. @ i'm having my reception at the sky terrace and they do seem to have really good lighting. We're not renting anything else but probably bringing some string lights to add ambience, not really for providing more light. I'm not sure how it works with the other locations

Wedding Dress Prices?
TinkerSofi replied to gkashmira's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
that's exactly why I took it home! I heard so many horror stories of stores going under and your dress is lost forever or things like that happening. I guess my house could burn down too but it just feels safer when it's with me for some reason haha. -
Any Other Calgary 2014 Brides?
TinkerSofi replied to Mrsktobe's topic in Canadian Destination Wedding Group
@ I might! I went a year ago to one but I wasn't really into the planning process so it might be a bit different this time around. I liked their fashion show and I tried on a few gowns on their sale but by the time I got there only the really big ones/ruined ones were left so I didn't buy anything. I think the usefulness is somewhat limited for us DW brides but it's always cool to check out different ideas. Only a small portion of the vendors there really apply to us but you might find it useful. I had fun anyways and I might go this year with my fiance since he couldn't go last year but wanted to. -
We don't have kids but I know some people would have been unable to attend if we said no kids. Who would watch over the for a week? Kids always make things interesting . we don't have any flower girls or anything like that but I wouldn't stop couples from bringing their kids Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I really feel for you. I struggle with the guilt of a DW everyday. Not because anyone is stressing me out but because I feel bad for asking people to pay that much to go to my wedding. The way I see it is, people will spend that money on a vacation anyway, you're just asking them to come where you're having your wedding. Your sister's arguments are totally invalid, random acts of violence occur anywhere (Mexico, Vegas, Europe) when traveling you just have to have common sense. I think you have to put your foot down and say that you don't care what they think, this is your wedding and just like you didn't have a say in theirs they should respect your and your fiance's decision. If you don't see yourself getting married anywhere else then don't budge because you will regret it your whole life. I really doubt they won't come and if they don't for such a silly reason then maybe it was for the best (imagine dealing with them when little things go wrong along the trip. Things do go wrong, there's no such thing as the perfect vacation) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yeah you need to get it cleaned and dipped again. Mine is a bit more yellow than it used to be but compared to my brand new wedding ring it's not too bad. It helps if you remove it to put lotion on and if you don't do a lot of washing with it on. I personally don't take it off to wash my hands or shower (because I'll probably lose it) but I do take it off to put lotion on when I'm at home and I have somewhere safe to put it while I do that. I've been trying to convert everything to CAD but it's hard. I'm also monitoring the dollar. Hopefully I'll get to pay everything when the exchange isn't too bad [emoji39]. We always get screwed as Canadians Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Best Way To Reach 150 Posts?!?!? To Access The Good Stuff!
TinkerSofi replied to cneedham's topic in Newbies!!
I know it's annoying but I think it encourages people to participate and keep the forums alive . I started planning super early because I've been engaged for a long time. It was hard to get posts at first when I wasn't sure what resort I would book. Once you narrow it down to a few hotels or even book it you'll reach 150 so quickly. There's always so many resort-specific questions when you first book -
Wedding Dress Prices?
TinkerSofi replied to gkashmira's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
@@calgarybride2015 thanks! I like yours too! very pretty . @@acw271011 There's definitely lots of places in Canada where you can find dresses under $1000. I bought mine in Calgary for under $1000 (see the pic above) and I saw quite a few that were around $600-800. I decided to go for a bit more flare than the regular destination wedding chiffon dress but just shop around, you will definitely find something. You might not be able to get a designer dress but that wasn't a priority for me at least. -
Anyone Else Overwhelmed With Cost?
TinkerSofi replied to kcole123's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
haah I think you can still get them in a few random places. There's always the one person who still wants to buy them -
good to know! It probably depends how ivory the dress is. Some ivory looks almost yellow but it seems like your dress is pretty close to white so it should be ok. I always keep having this picture in my mind of my dress being more yellow than it actually is. I'll have to look at it again

hahah. I should get him one as a gag gift -
I think it would look fine. I find off white looks kind of yellow only when put against white but otherwise you can't really tell the difference Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Same here! Most of the gowns were actually big on me except of course the one that I ended up buying haha. I fits perfectly around the waist and the bust, it even makes my boobs look bigger, yay! haha. My fiance definitely wants to go more for formal and I like it more too. I think he'll probably wear a bow tie and same with my brother. I was thinking with going with shirts that are at least off-white or ivory even. My dress is also a light ivory and I feel that it would look yellow when put against white.

Anyone Else Overwhelmed With Cost?
TinkerSofi replied to kcole123's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Yeah he does always have pretty hilarious comments haha. I think my fiance just kind of gave up and is letting me do my thing unless he thinks it's too ridiculous. We're usually on the same page but some things take some convincing. I've always been the planner in our relationship so we're used to him giving me a list of things he wants and I just have to make sure to include them in the plans . The thing is his list includes the bigger details and he wants to spend the money there but it's sometimes it's the smaller details that totally blow up the budget. Some things are not super important and people won't remember them later but some other ones I think add a nice touch and just add to the whole atmosphere of the wedding. -

It's always such a trade-off between "stay in budget it's only one day" and "this is a once in a lifetime event and needs to be celebrated how you want it". I'm trying to keep my head on my shoulders but it's so hard when looking at all those blogs of amazing weddings with all the natural flowers and the whole 9 yards. If it was up to my FI we'd be having a cavemen wedding, seriously. Every time he says things like "why do we need favor gifts for?" or "we don't need centerpieces, right?" I asked him what would his wedding look like if he was the only one planning. He said that he would give everyone fanny packs with all the utensils and everything they needed and just put the all food on a table so people would serve themselves. OMG,FANNY PACKS!! haha well thank god this is not one of those "surprise weddings for the bride". On the other hand he keeps me grounded when I'm just dreaming off about some unnecessary detail that costs too much money. -
I'm not sure what would be easier, I think it's always easier to make smaller than bigger. I bought a sample dress and it was the last one so I didn't have much of a choice. The dress fit perfectly except for the top 4 inches that is too hard to close with the zipper, well and the hips part because of my huge ass haha. If you go south macleod and turn right on 162 ave, keep going until you see a mac's on your left. The alterations place is right beside the mac's.

ohh I know where that is! It's like a block away from my fiance's house haha. I'm doing a corset back because my dress doesn't quite zip up all the way up (unless i plan on not breathing for 8 hours). I think it's definitely an easier fix than taking it out and all that. I wasn't going to buy the dress until the lady at the store told me that it was an easy fix. I also love corset backs and they're a bit more forgiving of weight changes

@@Smellsey I haven't heard of them here in Calgary...but I live under a rock. @@calgarybride2015 I didn't even think of R&W co. I find their clothes are very big for their sizes, at least for women, I don't know if it will be the same for men but I guess it's time to go shopping this weekend before they take down all the summer stuff. Could you please let us know if you find the number for that seamstress? I have to hem mine, take it out at the hips a bit and add a corset back. They quoted me around $200 where I bought it but I want to explore my options in case they come up with a new price when I go there to actually get everything done.
