  1. yeah neither are our friends, they're usually just loud and like to have fun haha
  2. My family doesn't drink much but with my friends the resort will actually be losing money hahaha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I think dress shorts and a nice top would be totally fine! I think the reason why I started getting worried was because I went to give out one of my invitations and my friend asked me what she should wear. So I told her just a nice dress is fine or something like that. That's when her mom chimed in and she said, "oh, you could just wear a cotton dress, like the one you're wearing now". There was nothing wrong with her dress, but it was more like a bikini cover up than anything else haha. I didn't know how to tell her "i would prefer something fancier?" hahaha. It was awkward to say the least, aside from the fact that her mom tried to invite herself to the wedding as well lol (even though I've only seen her twice). Thankfully my friend said she would probably wear a red dress she has, which is really nice lol.
  4. you're right, maybe I should change it and be more specific, not just semi-formal so people don't think they have to wear long pants and things like that but just put that nice shorts/pants and a shirt and a summer dress is fine. I should give my friends more credit, right? I don't know,I always love to dress up so I take any chance I get, even if it's a wedding on the beach lol but sometimes I don't know if everyone thinks like me.
  5. I guess it really depends on the sandals, some are totally fine and it also depends on the shorts, there are some really nice shorts as well. Most of our friends dress nicely so I don't think we should be worried. I've just seen some pictures of weddings that it honestly looks like some people were lounging on the beach all day and then they went and sat down for the wedding hahah.
  6. Lucky you! I would have to wear stilts to not get my dress hemmed haha. I think they used to have a store at crossiron mills. That's where I got mine but I'm not sure if they're still there. I wasn't planning on buying shoes that day, but when I tried those on and realized how comfy they were I just had to .
  7. we're definitely going for rolled up sleeves too haha. The poor guy would be miserable otherwise . He says he's going to wear the suit for the ceremony and pictures but I've finally convinced him to get a vest just in case it's too hot the day of and he can't stand the suit. He will probably wear it again anyway . I don't mind people wearing short sleeves or dressing less formal than us, of course, but I just felt like putting a dress code was almost necessary. There's always the one person that shows up in shorts and sandals or on a beach dress. It is a tough decision for sure.
  8. I totally love your hair clip! I think it will look amazing and I think it goes better with your dress than a veil would. I never tried a birdcage. I don't think it really goes with the dress, plus my fiance specifically said, "make sure you don't get one of those cages for your face, it looks like you have flies flying arround" bahaha. Quinceanera is sort of like the sweet 16 parties but in Latin America it's when the girls turn 15 . Not so much now, but a while back the girls would wear white dresses. I didn't like that at all. Thankfully now they wear sort of like grad dresses.
  9. Another place with super comfy wedges is this http://www.flurriesfootwear.com/categories. It's a Canadian company and while they're not super dressy I know they have or had some white wedge sandals. I have a pair and they are the comfiest shoes I have ever had. I can wear those things for hours!
  10. I think with your short hair a birdcage veil or a fascinator would look amazing! but yes, you always have to go with what is you. The main reason I didn't want to wear one was because I was worried about it being all over the place with the wind. Now I think I will just get some of those veil weights and test drive the thing on one of those windy days in Calgary haha. When I went shopping and I tried it on I stopped feeling like a quinceañera and more like a bride . It's very vintage and it makes me feel very Spanish, which is totally me . Also the edges match almost exactly the lace apliques on my dress. You can kind of see it on this picture (just forgive my dress not closing lol)
  11. one of my friends has a pair, they're red and they look so comfy! Maybe I can get fancy ones for the ceremony/pictures and then change into something more comfortable to dance the night away. When it comes to shoes usually the fancier they are the more painful hahah.
  12. that's so true! I better not tell that to my fiance hahah, he's going to wonder who else I love hahaha There's always going to be something better, something fancier, etc. but if you keep thinking of it you will go crazy. When I started focusing on why I love my dress I stopped wondering about other dresses.
  13. I was just looking into Oriental Trading yesterday and saw those bags. The prices were very reasonable, and I love that they ship in Canada!! haha. Maybe if it's in the budget we can get those, even if it's just the paper ones . I think I will probably pay for one extra bag to be checked with the less fragile items and bring things like flowers and breakables on the plane with me along with the dress and suit. I'll probably also spread some things among friends and family to bring in their luggage. I guess it depends on how many guests you have. We have about 50 so it is a lot but it's doable.
  14. I'm definitely leaning towards the more formal and so is my fiance. Our dress code is also semi-formal. I guess it would be different if we were doing any of our wedding events on the beach but they're all in a terrace and I just don't like it when people look like they stepped out of the beach and went to a wedding. I don't know, is that mean to make people dress up with the heat? The wedding is in August but everything is in the evening.
  15. no idea. I googled party supply stores and it showed up but it might be closed then there's another place called PartyMart. They deliver for free in Playa del Carmen and they have all sorts of things. I'm not sure about their prices though. It takes some digging in google but I think there are a few places.
  16. yeah! haha, It would probably take a whole suitcase haha. Apparently there's a party store in Playa so I'm going to call and see what kinds of things they have to spice up the party
  17. I've only been here 12 years but yeah, me neither haha. Just more reassurance that a DW was the right choice hahaha. You never know what you're going to get over here...
  18. We're thinking of going the photobooth route, all DIY. My dad has a camera with tripod and a remote and there are these portable printers for $100 (they are soo tiny) so people can print one of those pictures and sign it/put it in a guest book. I think it would be both fun and I just hate writing messages on guest books so this takes care of that. We thought about a polaroid but the pictures really fade with time and the film is really expensive. After all, the big expense now would be the printer and we will use it later. There are some cute props on etsy and I totally want a Mexican hat, but I'm thinking it will be easier to buy it there lol.
  19. @@calgarybride2015 I'm still confused whether it's September or December hahah . Gross
  20. @@kmk2016 I also can't see it. It tells me that I don't have 150 posts, ha! We just texted or called people a week before the deadline. Some also didn't RSVP, although they were the minority. Most didn't send an official RSVP but they told us that they were or weren't coming, or they just booked their trip. I should probably go through the list and RSVP them myself for those that are already booked haha, just to keep the numbers updated. I really hope no one comes last minute with the fact they're coming because I'm going to have to be the bad guy telling them it's too late. It is truly very annoying.
  21. I love it! And I think your hair will look awesome! Definitely think of getting a keratin treatment. Apparently it helps with the frizz Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. We emailed save the dates with a link to our website (90 days out). No one booked at that point and we sent out invitations two or three weeks before the deadline. Everyone waited until the very last week, some even the last day. So I say your invitations and website are the most important Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. That's true. But I'm glad that you and your fiancé were able to sit down and come to an agreement about what is important for the both of you. It does suck but the positives of doing it here is that you have more options and less restrictions in a way. You can go and check out things in person . I'm sure everything will turn out great and at least now you know what's going on rather than than being stuck in the limbo Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. There are still options here in Calgary. So don't despair! I think the zoo has pretty decent prices and so does the Sheraton on Barlow. My friend who got married at the Sheraton a couple of years back spent $12000 on her wedding and we all had so much fun! The hotel outside is not very pretty but it is inside, the ballroom and the rooms. So just a thought Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
