  1. I'm ok with an hour cocktail hour. That would only leave half an hour between the end of it and our reception and it gives people a chance to freshen up before. I convinced the fiancé to extend our reception until 12 [emoji4]. I just have to fight for the $9pp rate Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Sometimes I feel like a cheap bastard because i think "fire dancers would be super cool, but I can do without" or "natural flowers would look amazing at the reception, but I can put that money towards better food". I also feel like I'm not planning enough. Aside from being on this thread all the time I haven't done anything new or bought anything in about a month or two. This is probably going to bite me in the ass in a few months hahah. I feel as though the wedding is so far away that I don't have to settle yet on things like jewelry or shoes, or music, etc Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I told him I was worried that we would be all rushed with 4 hours but still nothing. I'll talk it over with him again when I see him next Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Should I call her out on it and say that I know someone else is paying $9 per hour until 12? I guess the fiance and I would have to be pretty sure that we want to extend it before actually fighting it haha. I told him about the $14pp yesterday and he said no and won't budge
  5. I find water really helps. My weakness are sweets and carbs but water and protein really help you feel full without overeating. Definitely make sure to eat enough. Not enough calories are just as bad as too many. I also love HIIT workouts because they combine cardio and weight training all in one. They're very intense and can seem a bit intimidating at first but make sure you try your best and do modifications whenever needed. I like bodyrock.tv they have free workouts. Zgym also has great workouts but it's $10 a month so you can start with the free ones and then think about paying if you like it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Hi everyone, so I thought I'd pass on the latest bit of knowledge I got. I asked my WC whether we'd get refunded the fee for the sky deck if we need to move the wedding inside due to weather. She said only up to 30% would be refunded (a bit of a rip off if you ask me) I also asked about extending the reception at the sky deck past 11. She told me it's $14 per person per hour. 7. The round tables have a diameter of 5 feet [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. @@calgarybride2015 I agree! There are some reviews out there complaining that there are bugs or that it rained. Did anyone tell these people they're going to a tropical destination? I would take them with a grain of salt because some people really expect others to put a red carpet under their feet as they walk, while paying very little money. I find that you always get what you pay for and you should adjust expectations accordingly. I remember reading reviews on the hotel we booked and some lady was complaining about literally everything, things that I was like, "seriously?". She just seemed so uptight, and then she complained that some teenage boy came up and asked her if she would like to see his d***. Bahaha I laughed so hard when I read that. Maybe see if there are bad things that are actually legitimate concerns that the resort can actually control. For example, if quite a few people complained that the food made them sick (in reviews that span across several months) perhaps I would be a little worried. If someone complained that their AC didn't work in their room I don't think it's a big deal. Things break in the best of resorts but usually they either change rooms or fix it. Also, new resorts always have kinks to work out and their first reviews sometimes are not the greatest but then they improve. Focus on what you liked about the resort and why you chose it. People will always complain about something but also keep in mind that you will be traveling with a whole bunch of people and that alone will make it more enjoyable
  9. According to what I've read it's up to $250 but it gets determined and negotiated when you arrive at the hotel so no one really as a definite answer
  10. I really like these! They are nice and simple Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. You know we don't really regret it most of the time. Once in a while I wish we had done them but really more for a keepsake rather than because we actually needed them. We can always do them after the wedding when we have a bit more money Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. What about the push up bandeau from Victoria secret? I have the opposite problem, I look like a 12 year old haha but I find that one makes them look really nice and it has a nice underwire with a halter skinny strap in case you need it (which you can remove easily btw for tanning) and at least the tan line won't be too big if you do have one. I don't know if that would even work Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. You can always ask your WC what the dimensions are. Definitely don't go through lomas though. I was looking into string lights before finding out they can't hang them up at the sky deck and their prices are beyond ridiculous for that. Something like $200 for a string of 12 lights! There's a lady on here who rents them out if you don't want to haul them there. They're a bit longer than the ones from lomas and they're about $15 per string. You would just meet her somewhere in playa Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. We've been learning to dance salsa for a year now so we are going to pay for a private lesson to learn some more showy moves and make a little choreography. We will be dancing to this song but we will probably cut it and mash it up with a slower song to keep it somewhat traditional Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. This is totally how I feel I should be rich to have the wedding I want haha. But at the end of the day I'm happy with the compromises I'm making and I don't even miss things that I decided I couldn't afford. I just get caught up in the moment and start dreaming and get carried away hahah Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I'm not sure if you will be able to find much for cheaper unless you're willing to cut the hours. You can ask our photographer, Octavio Montes how much it would be for 6hrs. We thought his prices were really reasonable but I can't remember off the top of my head how much it was for his 6hrs package. $2000 for 10 hrs seems almost unreal! At least there's no way id be able to get that price locally. Photography and videography, aside from our trips, is the biggest chunk of our budget and I think that's usually the case for both DW or not. There are probably some photographers who charge less but then sometimes you might be compromising on quality. Make sure to check their work and make sure you like their work above their prices. Best or luck! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. @@Nanlvsrav exactly! I think it would be a lot of fun but I'd stay grounded given the next chance hahah. I know my fiance wants to do a boat trip but I'll have to talk it over with him because he's even more prone to motion sickness than I am hahah. You might get your numbers balanced out that way! @@JuliaS oh that's too bad, although I thought it would have been too good to be true if we could hahah
  18. I don't know where to get them. They definitely look nice (I saw an invitation with them) but it would be my last priority as it is kind of an unnecessary expense. Most people will throw out invitations, let alone the envelope with your carefully picked stamps. I think if you have the extra money, go for it, they look so well put together, but if you don't, no one is going to notice
  19. Me too haha that would be hilarious! But yeah it's going to be crazy regardless haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Hahah could you imagine!? I think we would get shut down in no time lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. We had 2 walkie talkies and 5 people (3 rooms) but we managed. They were very helpful but I'm not sure how it would work with so many. Maybe if there are 4 people who are always together give them once, etc. it can be expensive. I think we paid $70 for 2 [emoji45] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. We did this too last time when we went with my family. The resort was really small but they came in super handy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I just listen to my body. If I'm thirsty I drink and I try to drink throughout the day so that I don't get to the thirsty point. However there comes a point that my body literally gets disgusted if I drink more water so I know I've had enough and I don't force it. I also always check my pee, if it's clear I'm good. If it's turning yellow I need more water . I think the most I can drink in a day is a liter and a half, unless I go to my hot yoga class. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Yeah I can understand that. You guys can still get some professional photos done on your 1st year anniversary or something if you still really want them Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. It was hard to get 150 before booking our hotel but after that it's easy because there are so many questions and because the planning finally begins. 150 seems like a lot but it really isn't. After I got to the 150 I started racking them up super quickly hahah.
