  1. I love the idea of having resort staff/vendors answering questions on there. I just joined . Won't be leaving BDW though. I find it's easier to find information and get questions answered.
  2. I heard SPF after 50 is not as effective as one would think. I need to research this! Also, 110 makes no sense. SPF is the percentage of solar rays the lotion is blocking out. You can't block out 110%. Again, I need to research this stuff but that lotion might be a good start, even if it is only 100% SPF, who cares as long as it works haha.
  3. same thing happened to us. The resort that was recommended to us was actually the one we ended up with, not one we searched ourselves. Getting a TA first thing is the best thing you can do.
  4. I agree with kmk! They might be totally legit. There's tons of Canadian agencies that aren't on here and they're great, but usually they contact you if you've provided them their info at a bridal fair, or sent them an e-mail, etc. I did get a bunch of e-mails after going to the bridal show from venues that I hadn't even talked to. They were all local and my fiance and I already knew we were having a DW so there was no need for us to talk to them. It turns out I entered myself for a contest at the entrance and I guess some companies got my e-mail that way. They can be sneaky sometimes but it's a fair question to ask.
  5. that's great! That's what I wanted to know . It turns out it might just be worth it, especially since I don't have to hire anyone from the outside and pay the outside vendor fee
  6. I know what you mean. If they didn't have it I would go for regular makeup for sure or even just doing it myself. I know there's a whole science about concealer when you're taking pictures so that you don't end up with weird shadows but I'm not sure how to do that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. thanks! Our wedding is right in the middle of August so big humidity. I think I'll just bite the bullet and pay for the airbrush makeup. At least the resort offers it now so I don't have to pay $800 to bring someone else, plus their fee. We do get some perks with our TA and get the trial and makeup for free. I'm guessing this is the normal makeup but perhaps I can upgrade it for a smaller fee.
  8. thanks! I'll make sure to follow the blog along . I think the walk would be nice to the beach, considering the fact that I usually stuff my face the second I get to an AI hahah
  9. I love the welcome books. I don't know if I have that much patience to make them but I think your guests will love them
  10. Exactly. Kmk is right. There comes a point where it's not even worth it and it only works if you're booking land only. You can still do that from Canada. I have a few guests who have land only. However, we have a photographer and their assistant and a videographer and their assistant as well so it's just cheaper to pay the $800 than 3 nights for all of them. 11. your guest would have to buy their ticket and hotel with another person but they can have their own room when they get there. When they check in they'll "officially" be rooming up with the other guest, according to hotel records but they can have a room for their own.
  12. that's a good idea. I'm pretty good with makeup so I think I could probably pull if off. It's worth a try!
  13. @@calgarybride2015 @@acw271011 thanks ladies. I think the resort spa has good reviews and they offer airbrush makeup. It's just a ridiculous price, at around $200 . I also thought about going offsite. I speak the language so getting around and making myself understood shouldn't be a problem, but I decided against it for the same reasons as you Kim. I thought it would add stress when it's really not needed. I'm worried about the makeup, more than the hair to be honest. I wear makeup every day and I like it, but i'm all about the natural look and I hate to have makeup caked on my face or eyeshadow that makes me look like an 80s hooker. I thought about doing it myself, but I think it will make a difference on the pictures to have it professionally done. That is one aspect where I'll go bridezilla on haha, my makeup.
  14. I love etsy. It's almost like youtube, where you start off with one video, then you look at the suggestions on the side and before you know it you've been sitting there for 2 hours hahha. I'm so reluctant all the time to buy things off of etsy. I find that usually when I love everything I don't buy anything because I can't decide. I've been looking at some jewellery for the wedding and I can't decide what I like better. Same thing with the hair piece. I have a few favorites but I think I should do a hair trial before deciding what style would look better. I also use it for inspiration. I'm quite crafty so I can usually find a way to replicate things if they're not too complicated .
  15. I know what you mean! I'd love to be able to wear those high low dresses and not look ridiculous haha. I'm 5ft as well . I saw some of those convertible dresses online but in the end I didn't like them as much as the regular dresses so I didn't ask to see any or try any of them on. I'm going with a long dress because I love it and I never get to wear long dresses . I did try on a couple of short ones but they didn't impress me. I wear short dresses all the time and I really wanted something different. I thought they looked too casual for me and we're still going with a bit of a more formal wedding, despite it being a DW. With that said, I think you need to find what makes you happy. In my case, a long dress was what I envisioned, but if it's a short one for you, there are some great choices out there! Also, in my opinion I hated how tea-length dresses made me look. I really looked like a 12 year old and they cut my legs at the worst point making me look even shorter. Again, this is what I thought of those dresses on me, but everyone is different and they really work for some short girls. I was worried about the same effect with a longer dress because i have a small chest and I was afraid of being "swallowed" by this huge dress. However, there are some dresses that accentuate curves, making you look like a woman, without making you look super short. I'd say stay away from ball gowns, and maybe try some a-line/mermaid gowns. The trick is, try everything on hahah, you will soon realize what works for you and what doesn't.
  16. teal and neutral colors would look great and very classy . I really like all the options posted above as well, especially teal and pinks or teal and coral .
  17. Hi ladies. I want to hear whether some of you have had airbrush makeup before, whether for your wedding or other events. Did you think it was worth the extra money? I know it's hard for makeup to stick with the heat and humidity of the tropics, but will airbrush really solve that problem?
  18. I'm glad it all worked out. The other day she literally answered within 5 minutes of me sending her a message haha. I think that's record time so I thought it was weird that she hadn't replied to you. Those are really good rates btw! Westjet is a bit more of a pain with group bookings but direct flights are always wort it
  19. I actually got a bridesmaid dress altered there! I think it turned out well . It just needed to be hemmed but I didn't have any complaints. I saw the good life at deerfoot. It's huge! Haha I felt like I was going into an amusement park. they have so many things you can use it's hard to decide lol. I don't go there but my mom wanted to check it out the other day and I went with her, I was impressed! Just take it slowly and hope for the best but really don't beat yourself up. I felt the same way as you when I went back to ballet as an adult. I was like "what the hell happened to my body?" But you'd be surprised how quickly your body adapts. I'm still a beginner and have a long way to go but I always give it my 100% and keep thinking that eventually I'll get there . I'm sure your dress will look great regardless [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I definitely think you made the right choice. I think this way if she has to take it in great, but otherwise the dress is good to go and it puts less stress on you trying to lose weight, or tone i should say, in 5 weeks. If your back is not feeling great then don't risk it by exercising more, you might cause more damage and then it will interfere with your wedding plans. Otherwise start slowly doing light weights and things like that . Have you tried yoga? It's gentle enough, but holy crap, it's a workout haha. My muscles are actually sore the next day . I go to Hot Yoga on Crowfoot and I really like it there. Then just supplement it with some cardio to lose the fat on top of the muscles. I like spin for cardio because i'm not a huge fan of running and it puts less stress on my knees but running is really the cheapest exercise . I totally get it though, about falling off the wagon. Lately I found I spent way too much time in these forums and not enough working out haha. Then I realized my wedding will look amazing but my dress won't fit hahah (It's already small lol). I got injured a couple of times and it really messes up with your motivation! I hurt my knee snowboarding about a year and a half ago and it took about 6 months to heal. It was really tough to get back to being consistent with my workouts. I'm back on track though, and so can you! Did you go to the seamstress in Somerset? My fiance had his suit jacket taken in by her and it looks good! It was also something super cheap like $30. I was expecting it to be closer to $70 hahah. I'll probably take my dress there and see how much she quotes me. I think the price you got is really fair
  21. Do you know anyone who is a hairdresser? If the hair in the extensions is human hair it probably is possible but otherwise it might be a bit unpredictable. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
