Just a question for you. Did you get fans for the men as well? I'm so torn about this! I thought I would have made a decision about it by now but no haha. I don't want to waste money on things that won't get used, especially because about half of our guests are men, but I also don't want the men to wish they had gotten a fan and be dying from the heat.

It is! It's in the same little commercial area where cactus club is on Macleod Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Show us your wedding dress!
TinkerSofi replied to Jennifer's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
That's one gorgeous dress! OMG I'd be so mad if they made it too small! I'm glad it all worked out for the best though. The material on the new dress looks really light and flowy, I like it and I think it will be perfect for a DW -
@@Sara1603 Also, I forgot to sort of advertise where I got my dress haha. They have really beautiful ones and the prices are really good. I got a sample dress there and they had it cleaned and ready for me within about 2 weeks. That's without alterations, but I know they have their own alterations department there so it doesn't hurt to ask whether they could do a rush order. It's called Blissful Bridal and I highly recommend them.

@@Lissie88 the fb group is great, but it's a lot easier to find info on here and search through. Definitely work with a GI certified travel agent. I think if you book your wedding after the BDR, you get like $500 towards your wedding. Maybe it also works if you book the BDR within 30 days of booking the wedding, that's why having one of their certified TAs comes in handy. However, if you don't want to wait that long, I think you can still get a lot of valuable info by going after booking. I wish we could go, but the first date we'd be able to do that is May and we're getting married in August, so it's really not worth it. We're going with the vintage elegance package for the reception tables. They do cost quite a bit of money, but at the same time if I had to factor in renting the decor or paying extra to bring it all with me, plus the set up fees, it would be pretty expensive anyway. It just worked out that their vintage elegance package had the colors we had picked haha.

@@Sara1603 You could always try and go to a private seamstress if you need alterations, they might be a bit quicker

@@linaco80 Wow, those are great! Thanks for the code, I tried using it but I hadn't been in the site since thursday so I just saw it and it's not valid anymore. I'm in Canada anyway so sometimes they're not valid here . I'll sign up for their e-mails and hopefully get my hands on the next deal! haha @@CharBec I'd love to see pictures of the pure glamour package! We went with vintage elegance but still haha

Guests Not Booking Through Travel Agent

Yeah! I think they might go down as long as they don't sell out. Looks like your date is sold out if they don't have it anymore! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Guests Not Booking Through Travel Agent

Yeah it's Canadian. I really like them but only transat goes to our resort so we had to go with them. On a totally unrelated note, I went in to check the prices for our trip today and they're about $300 more expensive than the group price we got so yay! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I really like the offset brooch but my only concern is whether that brooch will be going towards the middle all night and then you have to be turning your necklace every 5 minutes, especially when the party begins. I've never had jewelry like that that I don't know if that's what actually happens. I really do like the look of it though with the bracelet

I think you should totally go to VS and get some things for your hubby . I know it feels silly but there's nothing like feeling great in some amazing lingerie. I love your timeline cards. They're exactly what I was thinking of doing haha but we'll add them to our OOT bags . I think handing them out with your welcome drinks is a good idea too and I love the idea of leaving room in the back for people to write other people's room numbers. It helps when you want to call someone in the morning and plan your day together.

We sort of did the same thing. one of my friends broke up with her boyfriend so I told her to bring someone else if she wanted. For us it's really the minority that are single so it wasn't a huge stretch for us but I can understand if half of your friends are single it adds up quickly and half your wedding costs end up being for random people. I would be taken aback as well but definitely clarify as to whether people are just not allowed a plus one. The couple usually needs to pay for the wedding on a per person basis and maybe they decided that no plus ones were allowed due to budget constraints. I mean it sucks, but you can kind of understand. We were going to do that at first but when we saw how much it costs for single occupancy vs. double we gave everyone a plus one, but I know not everyone can do that. Also sometimes trying to convince them to make an exception helps [emoji14]. If you guys have been friends forever Maybe he can bend the budget a little to accommodate your girlfriend. We've done a few exception for people in certain areas. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Future Sis In Laws At Bachelorette Party?
TinkerSofi replied to jeffandrobyn's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I think they should be invited. I don't see the big deal about them being at the bar with you. They know you're going to drink and probably so will they. I don't think you'd do something that you wouldn't do if your fiancé was there so then it won't be a problem having them around. My sisters in law are Jehovah Witnesses so they're quite conservative and they don't go to clubs or drink. I doubt they'll be there but I'm inviting them anyway. Who knows, they might surprise me and come out [emoji2] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Complete Meltdown - Possible Wedding Cancellation!
TinkerSofi replied to KAT2015's topic in Just venting or funnies
I know, but I would agree to accept help from your parents. I think I would do the same for my family just to see them happy for that day, especially after all you guys have been through. If they can help and they are offering I would accept. Maybe think of the money as a loan and you can return it once you guys are back on your feet? -
2015 Bride - Help!
TinkerSofi replied to samantha22's topic in Riviera Maya and Cancun Accommodations & Site
I read a bunch of reviews about this hotel and one of the common complaints throughout was a lot of people getting sick. I was really concerned for our guests and ourselves if we booked there. I'm glad we didn't now Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Complete Meltdown - Possible Wedding Cancellation!
TinkerSofi replied to KAT2015's topic in Just venting or funnies
I'm so sorry to hear that. My family has been in that position before and I honestly would never wish it upon anyone. I completely understand how you feel. In your position I probably wouldn't put any more money down because I wouldn't know how much time we'd have to go with only one income. That's my opinion but I'm always that kind of girl though who goes on the conservative side of things. I wish you the best [emoji171] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Second Guessing The Dress
TinkerSofi replied to jeffandrobyn's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
My fiance actually prefers short dresses hahah but I told him I'll be wearing a long one. I think it would wow him if I wore a mermaid dress (he's kind of a big fan of my butt ahaha) but I didn't feel like me in those types of dresses so I picked something I liked without really worrying about him . I think in the end they'll be wowed anyway because of the meaning of the moment and the fact that we are all going to be so happy . -
I really hate it when people call you selfish for having a destination wedding. First off, you're inviting people, doesn't mean that they have to go. Second, most people will take a vacation in the next year, and as far as costs go, an AI is one of the most cost effective vacation options out there. People don't usually account for the fact that when you go somewhere else the flight and hotel might be cheaper, but then you need to factor in food, drinks, what you're going to do there, etc. It adds up to being about the same or more. At an AI,iIf you really have no more money after paying for trips you can easily stay at the hotel the whole week and still have a great time. I find that comment just as offensive as if someone were to invite me to their wedding and me making the comment "What a trashy venue" or something like that. Totally rude and out of place.

yeah!! i'm kind of in a hiatus so I've been a bit MIA from the site. The wedding has taken a second row seat because we're in the plans of buying a house right now. Also, since my maids of honor are in school I don't want to bug them yet about dresses etc. I'm thinking of going shopping with them in December while they're on a break. I'm afraid that if I wait until May it might be too late for our August wedding. Next month my to do's are: - OOT bags, maybe get a few items - bridal shoes - Hair accessories and jewellery

Online/phone Vs In-Person Travel Agent
TinkerSofi replied to Msmimi's topic in Canadian Destination Wedding Group
I have a local TA and we communicate through phone and e-mail for the most part. We've only met her once before going with her. I think the first meeting needs to be in person, but can easily be arranged through skype. After that, phone and e-mail is more than enough. We've been working with LaurieLee from PierOne travel. She's based in Calgary and so far she's been great with us. I think talk to a few TAs and see what they offer you. It depends what hotel you want to book with, you are better off working with a TA with good relationships with that resort. They're in a better position to offer you deals.
