You wedding week looked like lots of fun! I always like to hear about what items were the big hits from the OOT bags. Now I'm reconsidering whether I'll get tumblers. They do seem like the biggest pain to carry there and everything and if people won't enjoy them maybe I can spend that money on other little fun things . The white party looked like so much fun! How did you keep people from being drunk in an AI resort? I think it's going to be tough with my party friends haha.

Live Streaming- Any Info?
TinkerSofi replied to tasha682's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
we're getting married in Mexico so it might be a bit different. Our hotel is providing this for us so it is definitely possible if the wi-fi is strong enough. I also know some photographers offer this service but it all comes down to the internet connection at the hotel. Maybe ask the wedding coordinator if she knows whether they've done it before. -
@ I really love pictures with soft colors and that capture the natural moments throughout the wedding and yours captured just that. The fiance saw them and he really liked them too . Did you get your make-up done by the hotel spa? What did you think? Did you get them to come to your room and if you did, was that worth it? Aghh! So many pressing questions! hahah

@@calgarybride2015 Loving all the small details. I have to say I actually laughed out loud with your drunken shenanigans sign haha, I might have to steal your idea. I think your guestbook table looks fine, the travel theme just goes with the postcards , I can't picture it any other way. I'm planning on getting a sequin table cloth for our guestbook table which has nothing to do with our vintagy wedding but I just love them haha. Let us know how the hair trial goes! I can't wait to see pictures of the big day with everything together . I have to say that your thread has been really inspiring and useful for my own planning process. Thank you for posting

Destination Weddings Perceived As Selfish?
TinkerSofi replied to hp520's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
@@calgarybride2015 @@rachelia160 I agree with you guys, in the end we're all much better off without those that said no due to drama reasons (rather than financial ones, which are totally understandable). I guess Juan's friend could talk to our TA and see what happens. I know the rates are now $300 more expensive than what we paid so I don't know how much of a deal he'll get. I really hope they stay in the same hotel as us because our reception ends at 11:00 and now that they upgraded us to a suite with a private terrace we'll probably continue the party there. Unfortunately for those not staying at our hotel they need to leave as soon as the reception is done . I mean I feel bad for his friends, but I also don't think it's fair to ask people to pay another $50 plus a cab ride to go downtown and continue the party at a club when we have a perfect place in our room/the hotel club. At this point his friends still don't know what they're doing, where they're staying, who they're bringing, etc. I just talked with Juan this weekend and asked him to pressure them a bit for an answer because we need to start finalizing numbers so I can start working on the rest of the planning. Anyway, this totally wen't off topic from the thread, I just needed to vent haha. Moral of the story, you won't make everyone happy and not everyone's decisions will make you happy, but I try to focus on the good things and do what makes us two happy . Juan never really cared what people thought about him, which I really admire, but I needed to work on it. -
Destination Weddings Perceived As Selfish?
TinkerSofi replied to hp520's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Luckily we haven't had too many people come up to us saying that we're selfish. Most were actually really excited to go on vacation with us [emoji4]. I'm sure some thought it was selfish out of those that said no but I really don't care. This is your day so just focus on those who are coming and on how amazing the whole week will be We had one person tell us it was too expensive so he didn't book with the group. A few weeks ago we found out that he didn't even check our website for the prices and just went by what another friend told him, that it was $1700 per person. Well that was the price for the most expensive room and it was $1500 for the cheapest. He couldn't believe it because he would have been able to afford that one but now he lost out on the group pricing Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Our Disney Engagement!

I'm walking down to tour of the kingdom . I showed it to my fiancé the other day lol and he said you can totally tell it's a Disney song but he liked it haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
@@Lissie88 I'm not sure about the whole overbooking thing. Although for your guests that booked with your wedding group I really doubt they would separate the group and send them somewhere else. It might happen for people who go on their own and during very high season. For trips our group got quoted around $1500 for a deluxe room with taxes incl. or $1700 for a one bedroom suite. I'm from Canada, so these prices include airfare as things are a bit different here. We're traveling in August. I suggest you find out the prices before you book as this might be a deal breaker (at least it would have been for us). Also, if you're working with a Karisma GI certified TA she'll be able to reserve your date and get in contact with the hotel without you having to contact them directly. You also get extra perks by working with one of them . The way it works is that the TA will block rooms for you at a rate and people will have a certain amount of time to book. She'll then take care of reserving the wedding date with the hotel.

Our Disney Engagement!

Tanlines.. Anyone else concerned with this?

I got fried in punta Cana and never again! I reapply sunscreen every hour now haha, To the amusement of my friends, and I always wait about 10 min before going into the water. Also, make sure you're putting sunscreen a bit under the bathing suit. I find I always miss the limit and I get burned only around the bathing suit haha, not a pretty picture. Juan (my FI) also got me an SPF shirt to wear while we snorkel. What a sweetheart [emoji171] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
We're renting two white sheers to cover the gazebo and getting two small flower corsages to hang on each side. We get white wooden chairs so we'll stick to that and I might get some pomanders for the end chairs or something along those lines. We figured the ocean will give the scene some color and the bridesmaid dresses [emoji4]. I saw some videos of past weddings at our venue and I found that the simpler the decor the nicer it looked [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Vintage Vs. Rustic
TinkerSofi replied to TheBHolders's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I've seen indoor weddings with burlap and they looked good! I agree, I think it all depends on the overall feel you want to give the wedding and making sure things go together Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I'm getting married in August too! I freaked out about it too at first but out of the 3 times I've been to Mexico the best weather was in August [emoji3]. I think we'll be ok. Technically it is hurricane season but the chances are not super high. It is a risk you take but let's hope for the best. If it makes you feel better, I went last January to cancun and while the weather is supposed to be great that time of the year it rained 4 days straight. It was cold, like long pants and a sweater cold during the day. I definitely wouldn't have wanted to get married then. So the chances of something going wrong are always there, no matter where you get married, but there's no point in worrying about something that you can't control [emoji6]. If the only time you can do it is August go for it and hope for the best Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I agree with Calgarybride. I think you should invite whoever you want there. I work as a contractor and while basically the company is just me and my bosses, I didn't invite them. If they ask I'll just say it's a very private event with only family and close friends, which is true. We had the same phenomenon, where people we basically counted out said yes and people that we thought would say yes ended up not coming, so be prepared for that if you invite your co-workers. Also, the more you invite, the more chances that one or more will say yes. I think people understand that there is a difference between professional and personal relationships and that's fine. My rule of thumb is, if you don't hang out with them outside of work they don't get an invitation.

thanks for the suggestion! -
Good stuff to know for sure! I was thinking of getting extensions because I'm kind of allergic to the glue for fake eyelashes (nothing too extreme but they make my eyes really itchy). I didn't know extensions would leave you with almost no lashes after. Now thinking about it, I might just suck it up and go with fake eyelashes. I can always pull them off half way through the night and just wear mascara. Eyelashes take a very long time to grow back and I'm not willing to sacrifice my nice natural lashes. I had this eye makeup remover that not only removed the make up, but also my lashes, and now, after almost 6 months they're finally getting back to normal. Ugh, the price of beauty

glad to hear it's possible! As much as it pains me I'll have to go tanning before I go. I hate being white, but I also hate tanning lol. It's a necessary evil in this case . I also need a big hat to protect my nose, that's the first thing that goes, no matter how much sunscreen I put on. -
I kick the ones on the left better. I love bling but id be worried that the vertical stripe on the ones on the right are too long for my foot and it would end up bunching up all night. It's probably proportional to the size of the shoe but Maybe try them on and see Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think it's a great idea to add examples. I'm always left wondering what they mean exactly so I have to google it hahah Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I feel the same guilt about my grandparents not being able to come. They're all the way down in Argentina and when we started planning I chose my friends and fiance's family vs. my extended family and that kind of makes me feel like an ass. Basically if I did it in Argentina none of our friends would have been able to come, and it would have been difficult/impossible for my fiance's family as well so we chose Mexico. We will be having a reception in Argentina next year .
