  1. @@acw271011 oh, that sucks. I'm sure they'll be able to work something out, especially since your group is not that big, it might give them enough time to set everything up so that might work in your favour
  2. @@girlinthecity97 apparently they're not allowed to put the cake in the boxes themselves, but as long as you or one of your guests do it it's fine. It would be super unfair if they didn't let you take it after paying for it.
  3. I'm going to a local place here. I found they had more variety than David's bridal and the prices were about the same . It will have to be done next weekend though because I have to work this saturday . I was thinking of giving them an earlier date as well just in case . Places ranged in the amount of time they gave me, even David's bridal said about 4 months.
  4. I started on one side of this topic and ended up with a totally different opinion. At first I didn't want to invite singles with a guest, mainly because I didn't want random people at my wedding, but after I sent out the invitations I realized that was not very nice of me and there weren't even that many singles to begin with. Even though i didn't address my invites with "and guest", I just told them they could come with someone if they wished and I added a +1 on their online RSVP. I feel much better about this decision because to be honest, i won't be able to be with everyone all the time, and this way it will be nice that everyone has at least one person to spend their time with and plan their days. I probably wouldn't go to a destination wedding that didn't allow me to bring someone only because I'm single. There's only a handful of people who are bringing someone else, many actually ended up rooming together with other single friends
  5. @@rachelia160 So, I went to check out a few places for bridesmaid dresses to kind of narrow it down. I don't know if you bought yours yet, but some stores were telling me that right now it could take around 5 months for them to arrive! Ah! this is turning out to be more dramatic than finding my dress haha. Mind you, my dress find was so unexpected that even finding the groom's suit is turning out to be more dramatic hahah.
  6. I guess my dress will have to explode to prevent me from having cake! Haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk We were thinking about buying little boxes and give them to people before they leave. If it doesn't get eaten at the reception at least it won't go to waste . Besides it will be nice to have a little snack when we come back from all the partying Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. @@snswedding2016 I agree with you. @Karilynnfarhat Most of the packages we found for other hotels were cheaper at first glance but the include a very limited amount of guests. Since we were expecting quite a few we needed to pay on a per person basis after the certain number, which ended up being about the same. Also, other hotels offered a lot of things in their package that we didn't want and we needed to add others that we did, so that meant putting more money on top of the package. Sometimes the prices at AF can be overwhelming and it looks more expensive, but in the long run, if you watch your choices, it's about the same. Keep in mind that the other resorts are not giving you a wedding like the one on the memorable moments package for $2000. It's a very simple one, so you need to compare apples with apples. I also didn't know that the package wasn't free for Canadians. When I booked I made sure to go through all the small print and at that point it said valid only in North America, so unless they lost their map, last time I checked we were in North America. My TA tried to tell me but I kind of misunderstood her and believed the website instead. Of course after we booked, they changed the website to say US only. I tried to fight it but nothing because I didn't have proof that it said North America. Anyway, I've come to accept it now, I'm still paying less than at home. Canadians don't get any perks pretty much unless you book through one of their TA's, in that case, you can choose a spa package (so you get your makeup and hair, trials and the real thing, pedi and mani for a bridesmaid), a cocktail hour, or some photography package for free. They say we get no perks because they give us a huge discount already on our packaged vacations.
  8. Right now we have the cake for 30-40 guests. Worst case scenario, if the maybe's say no we'll have 41 people and 3 kids so I think we'll downgrade to the 20-30 people 2 tier cake for the same reason, by the time the cake comes around everyone is full
  9. I was super overwhelmed a couple of months back when I got back into the planning but that's what I had to do, just break things up and start planning! haha
  10. @@acw271011 I'm sure they'll fix those things up without a problem. I've had some things that the've put wrong on my summary sheet but an e-mail easily fixed it @@MexicoWeddings from what I hear AF doesn't let you bring in outside flowers or food so it's their way or the highway when it comes to flowers. I'm bringing fake ones from home
  11. @@kcole123 We got ours from here http://www.logolenses.com/shop/wayfarer-sunglasses/54a78112e29e9#choose_side_arms_options We got a bit over 100 so they were fairly cheap, but if you don't need that many you might be better off with the dolarama ones. We decided to do glasses instead of tumblers so we spent a bit more on them than we would have otherwise
  12. those would be some amazing straws!! haha This thread helped get my butt into gear. In the last week I finalized my centerpieces and our sweetheart table and I decided what kind of accessory I'll be getting for my hair. Next: bridesmaid dresses (hopefully I'll get that sorted out this weekend). I checked out a bunch of places and I've narrowed it down to two, maybe 3, so that hopefully makes shopping a little easier
  13. We're getting Vanilla rum and coconut. We haven't tried them though because we didn't go to the BDR.
  14. My TA told me when we booked. I told her that some people were thinking about booking on their own so they could wait to find cheaper prices. My TA then said that since transat is the only one that goes there, if there was a cheaper price we could all get a refund so it was in their best interest and mine for them to book with the group. Tons of hotels have only one tour company going there, not sure why but we've gone to hotels in Cancun where only sunwing goes, and they were good. My guess is that it's all part of a contract and/or a bidding process. In one way it's bad, because there's no competition for that hotel, which means they can tecnically charge what they want, but on the other side it's good for people like me, it really discourages guests to book on their own so I get more perks . I'm not sure how much the hotel was last year for the same time with different travel companies so I can't really speak as to whether they're more expensive now or back then. However, considering another hotel we looked into, we booked AF for $100 more and it's a much much better hotel, so I think we got a good deal.
  15. I would get quotes for people not in a package vacation. Initially we had a couple that didn't know if they could come the whole week, so our TA told me that she could get them another quote for less days.
  16. I enjoyed reading this! I can't believe I only found it now! I really like those stadium cups! and the timelines, they're really cute
  17. @@acw271011 Starting this year Transat is the only one that travels to Azul Fives. I'm not sure if the same applies for october, but transat only goes down there once a week during low season. We wanted to stay 3 more days after everyone left, but that implied paying for a whole other week and that was too much for us. Are they able to book the flight and room separately? I know that can be a bit more expensive but it might be a choice.
  18. it's such a tradeoff right? I'm thinking the same thing. Gah! I just love those darn tiny buttons! hahah. I just remembered that my communion dress had tiny little buttons at the back too, can you say obsessed?
  19. Did Brigitte quit ? I got an e-mail from a new coordinator today. Too bad I really, liked Brigitte, but at least the new coordinator introduced herself so that's a good sign right? I've heard of other brides trying to contact their WC for weeks before finding out they had been switched to someone else.
  20. one of my biggest regrets from my grad was changing into jeans...lame. so I'm not making the same mistake even if I die haha. I'm hoping the wind up in the terrace will help
  21. I would totally go with a travel agent. They'll also help you sort out which hotel is better for you Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I was reading about it the other day. Apparently it's not so hard (for a seamstress of course hhah) but the hard part is matching the fabric to the dress. I truly love the zipper closing on mine with all the tiny buttons and I would keep it if I can but replicating all the beading on the bodice after taking it out would probably be super expensive. I'll still get a quote when I finally bring my dress to the store Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I totally agree with these ladies. The waiting sucks because you want to have final numbers yesterday haha but you have plenty of time before you need to harass them . I had the same experience as Calgarybride. No one was booking and 3 weeks before the deadline it was just us, our families and 2 other couples. I had even come to accept that no one would come! I sent a reminder text to everyone about a week before and everyone booked in the last 2 days! Haha. For now just try to relax and trust your friends who are saying that they will come. Everyone will leave it to the last minute no matter how set they are in coming. As for your fiance's friends I know it's a bummer. We still don't know if half my fiance's friends are coming or where they're staying. A quarter are not coming for sure but such is life. He was a bit disappointed too at their bs excuses but it's not about you and there is nothing you can do. It's the risk we all take doing a DW. I agree that it sucks that they're coming to the free bachelor party and not to the wedding but that is also the risk you take. I'm sure all my fiance's friends would have gone to a free bachelor party too but I doubt their answer to the wedding would have changed [emoji17]. Just be there for him and tell him to focus on the people that are coming. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I just went in today to the store I got mine to look for bridesmaid dresses and I got a rough quote. It will be $300-350 for replacing the zipper closing for a corset, the hem, taking it out at the hips and the bustle. I thought it would be more for all that. It feels like I have to remake the dress when I list all the things that need to be done! Haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. I'm going to tough it out. I just love my dress too much so I want to wear it as much as I can Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
