  1. I'm in the same boat haha. I keep procrastinating even through I think it would be fun and help me get my ideas together Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I dont think it's too soon. We booked ours almost as soon as we booked our hotel, almost a year and a half before. He raised his prices now so I'm sure glad we booked him when we did! Also some photographers are really in high demand so they book quickly this way you get to make sure you get who you want Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I think a travel agent will be of great help here. They know way more resorts than we do and some of the details that sometimes online research just doesn't give you. I agree with a lot of what has been posted already, make sure you look into the small costs for personalizing your wedding. We chose Mexico for cost reasons. In the end, our resort wasn't all that cheap, the cheapest room did come at around $1700 incl. taxes, but mind you we're going in low season and it's a great hotel from what I heard. It might be harder to find those prices during the March break. We're doing early August, as one of my MOH's is a teacher so she'll be able to come . Our resort does allow for a lot of personalization of the wedding, but always at an extra cost. I would still recommend Azul Fives to you because it seems to have most of what you're looking for, but be aware that the price for all the extras can get quite expensive but i think that's the case with any resort where you want to personalize everything. We're personalizing some things but not everything and I'm ok with that . Edit: that's funny, I read your post after and your TA recommended Azul Fives haha.
  4. I will use the one the resort will provide for us. It's just one less thing to carry, and I'm ok if I don't have it to keep as a keepsake.
  5. It looks like you guys had such a blast! I love it, I'm sure some of those pictures will make you laugh years down the road. I'm so glad you were able to let the little things side. I hope I can do the same, although I am known for being a control freak at times hahah
  6. I have two bridesmaids and fiancé has his two sisters on his side so I need four little bouquets which I bought at Michael's. I'm paying for their vintage elegance decor for the tables so I'm just bringing the centerpieces (I attached a picture of how they'd look) the little blue round thing is a filled cookie, our favor, which we will put inside the boxes. Then I'll have some extra decor for the guest book table but I will keep it simple. And I bought some pomanders the other day at Michael's for the aisle for the ceremony and that's pretty much all I'm bringing in terms of decor. I haven't had a chance to take a picture of the pomanders. Maybe I should start a planning thread Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Haha forgot the pictures. I also attached one of what our sweetheart table will look like but you have to use your imagination a bit for that one haha [attachment=30545:ImageUploadedByTapatalk1423372951.298974.jpg] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. @@Teg07 I really wish I had come across that article sooner! haha. I'm only getting my bouquet from Lomas and we're bringing everything else from here. I just couldn't make it past their prices, they're way too high for just flowers.
  8. Even though i use both, I actually like it here better. it's harder to find the information on Facebook, which means people ask the same questions over and over. I find the forums are better organized. One thing I do like better, it's easier to see the pictures that people post. Maybe as a suggestion to make the forums better, it would be nice if there was a tab where we could see all the pictures that have been posted on that thread and navigate through them, rather than having to go back through each page. Just as a friendly FYI, you could get kicked out from the site by advertising other sites on here which are basically competing with this forum. I just don't want to see you get in trouble! 9. Maybe check to see if you can find a travel agent that works with that hotel. Sometimes they can bend the rules a bit Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. thanks! I can't wait to see people wearing them. Hopefully some will bring them to the ceremony and we can have some fun group pictures taken . Maybe I'll let them know to bring them
  11. i'm glad it all worked out and fell into place in the end . Let's hope it continues like that. Our winter hasn't sucked as much here in Calgary as in Toronto (that was last winter for us) but it's still boring compared to the sun and beaches!
  12. I haven't been down there, but the resort looks amazing and everyone has good things to say about their weddings. I have no doubt that our day will be great, but just be ready for the nickle and diming that you'll have to endure until the day of. I've come to accept it now, for some things I bit the bullet, but for others no way haha. I read on the Azul Beach thread that they don't allow any more outside vendors aside form photographers and videographers. I'm not sure if it would be the same at Fives . I wasn't planning on getting anyone else but I know many of you guys were planning on bringing dj's and/or make up and hair teams. Maybe double check with your WC's.
  13. @@andreaberretta amazing pictures thank you so much! I can't wait to be there, i'm so sick of winter haha
  14. you will look beautiful to your future hubby so don't sweat it. For me I know I'm putting all this pressure on myself because I want to look good on photos but my fiance keeps telling me that I look good and that I don't need to worry. We are honestly our own worst critics. He fell in love with you just the way you are
  15. that's kind of what we did haha. Not my fault people procrastinate.
  16. That's really too bad. The problem is that their prices are too high for everything! Even hair and makeup are so expensive there! One of these days they probably won't even allow outside photo or video [emoji20] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Keep in mind that no matter the amount of research you do you mind up with the same problem at some point, some people don't want to spend all that money, others don't want to use the group rate, etc. it really isn't about you, you could have found the best deal ever and some people will still complain or decline to go. Just be prepared. hopefully you won't have to deal with this but I think most of us do at some part of the planning process. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. We decided to go with an outside photographer because we found a better deal than the approved photographers, that's even considering the $800 outside vendor fee. I think the main thing is to look for different photographers and their work, see what kind of style you like better and then start asking for quotes. It is kind of time consuming and it's always a trade off between what you like and what you can/are willing to pay. We booked Octavio Montes and the booking process was really easy. We paid our deposit for photos and video with Paypal and he was always super responsive. In hindsight I would have asked some more questions before booking but I really don't regret my decision. There's some really good questions to ask here under booking a photographer: http://www.buzzfeed.com/peggy/these-diagrams-are-everything-you-need-to-plan-your-wedding?bffbweddings&bffb&utm_term=4ldqpkk#.yirKWJ29n
  19. @@LisaAnthonyPoppy @@calgarybride2015 both of your timelines look similar to what we want to do. I also don't like dinners that drag on forever filled with 100 speeches while people wait to get the party started. Ours is not as settled yet, but this is kind of what I have so far: 5:00-5:30 ceremony (I don't think this will take half an hour, but if it doesn't it just means more time for group pictures 5:30-7:00 pictures (both group and couple), people go have a drink or freshen up. 7:00- people are seated 7:10 we come in and do our first dance right away. I want to get this over and done with before I have any drinks because I'm a very cheap drunk, we're doing a salsa dance and when I drink all my spinning abilities go out the window hahaha. I like the idea of people having the first course while we do this 7:15-8:15 dinner and speeches. Our dinner is a buffet so I'm not sure if all the food will be presented at once. We're leaving a window of time while people eat so anyone who wants to make a speech can . 8:15-:8:30ish - parents dance 8:30-11:00 PARTY!! and cake cutting somewhere in there.
  20. Here is our website. I have to update it now, but just to get the idea. www.weddingwire.com/sofiaandjuan
  21. @@girlinthecity97 I'll double check with my WC just in case.
  22. In terms of set up they don't give you much, just white garden chairs. My WC told me the stone table is part of the gazebo but some ladies have said that it's not so I'm kinda confused about that. I'm basically not saying anything because if I get there and they don't have it I'll show them the email ha!Time for them to get ripped off. What you do get with the $1700 is a cocktail for people when they arrive, lounge area "white glove service" which I have no clue what it means, free broadcasting for people at home, cold towel for guests during ceremony, fans, a program and a souvenir photo frame for you guys. 23. Did you get to do some excursions? If you did, How many did you do and did your guests tag along? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. I went to Jessica & Belle Rykiss. They had tons of really nice ones and a lot at around the $150-170 price point. I think you can get even cheaper ones at David's bridal but the color they had wasn't exactly the one I wanted. The Jessica place had the color exactly
