Any One Else's Fiance Stubborn?
TinkerSofi replied to kcole123's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
My fiance is seriously the king of pig headedness. I call him the no man because he will say no to everything first and then when he says yes he finally agrees with me or he has fun. The way I'd deal with this with my fiance, I would be honest with him and don't budge. Tell him that you refuse to go through that awkward moment of the guys finding out that the girls got something and they didn't. I would also feel bad because if they get something afterwards it almost feels like it was an after thought. At least for my fiance sometimes it helps to ask him how he'd feel, even if he wasn't expecting anything, to find out that other people got something and he didn't? that usually does the trick with him . -
I love your jewellery. I had seen similar earrings and I almost bought them but in the end I went for something else. I'm anxiously waiting for them to arrive now haha. I love the hair piece and I think it can work both ways, with your hair down or up. I also usually wear my hair down but it will be a mess if I do at the wedding and I actually do like how it looks up, so that's what made my decision.

Yeah I'm from canada so some products need to pay customs when they come in . I don't think you need to worry about Mexico because you tell them that they're gifts for people Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Beach Shoes

@@LisaAnthonyPoppy @@calgarybride2015 yeah, I've never gotten blisters, but that's what happened to my uncle. It's still pretty painful to walk on it so you always have to wear your sandals until you get to the wet sand. They have little pathways that go down to get you closer to the ocean so you don't have to walk on the hot sand. -

I heard the same theory about the composition of the sand. I'm from Argentina and our sand has a lot of iron. It will blister the bottom of your feet if you walk barefoot on the dry part. When we went to punta Cana they told us that because of the coral make up of the sand it doesn't heat up there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
People asked us so I just finished posting something about it on our website with some picture examples. I think it's confusing for a lot of guests because they've never been to a destination wedding. I wish I could just say "just make sure you look good" haha but then that doesn't help much. It's mainly the men that ask but I've had some of my girlfriends ask too. I thought that was weird, one of my friends asked if there was a specific color she should wear? I didn't know people did that Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

They're like an instant manicure haha. They are almost like stickers, so you cut them to kind of fit your nail and you blow them a little with a blow drier and voila! You have instant nail polish with all these really sweet patterns. They also last much longer than regular polish (about 2 weeks) and you don't have to wait for them to dry like regular nail polish. Also, shellac lasts pretty long, but at least for me it destroys my nails for 4 months, so it's not worth it. These things don't ruin your natural nail Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

you're lucky! we don't get more than the regular, and even then, now we need to pay for the first bag for some airlines. I haven't quite checked the rules on that yet. I was hoping that I didn't have to bring a lot but things are starting to add up for sure. I tend overpack like it's no one's business, for any trip, so I can't even imagine what it's going to be like this time around.

I was thinking putting it on the right hand could be a way out and it will still look nice during the ceremony. My fiance doesn't like wearing rings either so we are considering the idea of getting a chain for him to wear it around his neck haha, Frodo style . -

There's a butterfly release?! so cool haha. Even though I feel bad for the butterflies being trapped until they're released. I have no idea what I'm doing either haha so I'm just posting as I go . I love the rafia fans! but I think I'm just going to get regular ones at Michael's so I don't get dinged so much with the shipping and custom charges. -
Guest Inviting Strangers To My Wedding?
TinkerSofi replied to rachelia160's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I know the feeling when you have to say something like that, and you're internally clenching your guts because you don't want to know the answer from the other person haha. I think you did the right thing by mentioning what bugs you and I totally see how it's more the principle of the thing that bothers you, more than the fact that you might have some extra people at the wedding. I would find out for sure what is going on with that so that there are no surprises down the road. I'm sure your friend would understand if you tell her that you were so scared to say that, that you don't even know what she replied haha. Also, I would make sure that you and your mom are on the same page so that it doesn't feel like your mom is undermining your decision/authority. Otherwise, if she says "oh no, we totally have room for more" then you end up looking like the bad guy who didn't want to have extra people. At this point, you already mentioned it to your friend, so your mom doesn't have much of a choice but to back you up. -
Juan totally did that. I was more into the pictures but he always likes to see thing and not imagine them, so he searched for videos . I think it is very helpful, especially videos made by the guests and not the professional ones that the resort provides. The resort we booked at has videos of weddings at the venues we chose and that was super helpful to visualize how I wanted the wedding there.

@@Meandhim thank you so much for this! It is so helpful. I think I am now leaning towards both. I like the idea of having a picture of the people who wrote the message and putting it all in a photo book is an awesome idea . Just so 20 years down the road you can see the person (which is so much fun) and see what they wished for you . I agree with you that it's so nice to have the handwritten notes. It adds more character to the cards Thanks for the advice on the camera set up. I will try it out one of these nights, in the summer probably because I don't want to freeze haha, but just to see how things turn out with the built in flash. My dad is really good at setting up the focus and all that stuff so I'll leave that up to him. I know he'll be more than happy to help . I saw all the free printables and I was thinking I could totally do them myself. I also wanted to check dollar stores and party city since they might have some too. I also found a place in Playa where they sell party supplies for really good prices, so I might be able to find some of the bigger stuff there and then just leave them there. Things to ponder and plan for sure! Thank you ladies for your advice, it really helps @@calgarybride2015 you and me both, I've been like that this whole week, cold medicine doesn't even help . I think I'll try out the digital camera route first and see how that turns out but thank you for offering . I think you're right, it's nice to have a digital copy of the pictures in case you want to print them again later or use them for different things. Since I thought I'd include them on the thank you cards it will also be a lot easier than scanning and re-printing all the polaroids.

that sounds awesome! I like those questions more than the picture I posted. I had seen another one but couldn't find it. If you could post a picture that would be great! I totally want a photo booth. I was thinking of just bringing a few props (there's also a lady over in Playa who rents some props out, so less stuff to bring), my dad has a nice camera with a control remote and a tripod. So I was thinking of just setting that up so people could take their own pictures. Then printing some of those photos when we get back and sending one to each person as part of the thank you card. I still have to work out the logistics of this, mainly how the light would work. It won't be a professional set up, so that's what I'm afraid of, that they'll turn out too dark. I guess I have to try it at home one of these days and see how it works. I really don't want anything too complicated. I probably won't even have a backdrop, well unless you consider the stunning real ocean as a backdrop

It's getting so close to the wedding day! I totally love those nail foils. I think I might need to try these because I spend so much time doing my nails and then always mess them up somehow. It's so frustrating! Your bridesmaids will love them. In terms of your question, I like "the mermaid nails" (because I'm obsessed with mermaids haha) and the last ones, the coral, nude and silver. The hangers look great! That is definitely a great deal so I'll keep it in mind for when I get to that part of my planning I think you did a great job with the bags and I think your guests will be super happy to get them.

I'm sorry for being so MIA this week. Let's just say TGIF haha. I've been sick this whole week (and still am) but had so much work that couldn't call in sick. I don't get paid if I don't work, so I kept thinking every morning "think of the amount of wedding things you can pay off if you work today!" hahaha. The strategy worked pretty well but i'm glad I can rest now . As a reward to myself today, I bought something for the guestbook. Guestbook: I really had, and to some degree still have, no idea what to do for a guest book. One thing was clear, if there's one thing I hate at weddings is staring at the blank page of a guest book wondering what to write. I'm so not creative when it comes to writing that it is almost torturous for me. In the end I always end up writing the same thing and I hate it because the message doesn't express my true happiness for the couple. I mean, I might as well just write my name, considering how bad my messages are haha. I definitely didn't want to put my guests through something that I personally hate doing. My first idea was having a polaroid guest book. One of my best friends had this at her wedding and I loved it. Someone would take a picture as guests arrived and you could write a message at the bottom. This idea is not totally scratched out. My friend still has the camera and she said I could borrow it. I just need to get the film. Then I thought about doing a DIY photobooth! I love these things but can't afford to pay someone, so it has to be DIY. I'll post more on what I have planned for this later. I thought I could combine the photo booth with the polaroid guest book. Then I saw how much film is for a polaroid camera and I obviously can't afford to buy 100 of them. I thought that some people will hog the machine while others don't get to take a picture before the film runs out. If I have a digital camera set up for the photo booth (which is now the plan), people won't be able to sign them, so I made the decision that these two things need to be separate. So that brings me to the third point. I thought, if I don't do the picture thing, then what? I saw this on pinterest and I thought they would be pretty cool. Basically people won't have to stare at a blank sheet of paper and they can fill out any of the lines they want . At any rate, despite which way I decide (because Juan said he's basically fine with either choice), I needed somewhere to put the final product. Which finally brings me to what I bought today! haha. I found this box at Home sense. The writing has advice for life, I guess you could call it, like "enjoy the little things" and I thought it would be perfect. It also has a vintage feel which goes with the wedding. It was only $6 , and I can use it to store some of the the more fragile things to bring down to Mexico, such as some of the center piece flowers. What do you guys think is better? the polaroid idea or the pamphlet with message cues? or maybe both, since polaroids tend to fade with time? Do you think having a polaroid guest book and a photo booth is kind of redundant? At home reception Ok, so this isn't an AHR, more like a mother land reception haha. Since none of my extended family in Argentina will be able to come due to financial reasons, my parents are paying for a family get together for us over there. Juan isn't close to is extended family, so that's why we're not having anything in Colombia. I just bought our flights this week. Yay!! We're leaving on December 26 and spending New Years over there. I'm really excited because I haven't been in 3 years, it will actually be 4 by the time we go, and my whole family will be there. It is tough for all of us to go at the same time and as the family grows it becomes more and more difficult, so I'm going to enjoy every single moment. Juan has never been to Argentina so I'm excited for him to see where I come from and for him to meet my grandparents and the rest of my extended family. Now, it's time to start looking for locations to have this party. I've seen a bunch of places online, some of them are probably too expensive, but I think this one might be around our price range and a friend said that she went to a wedding there and it was good. The page is in Spanish but at least you can see the pictures http://siquieromdq.com/anunciante.php?a=El-Recreo

thanks! I thought about the headband for the legal ceremony here, but once I tried it with the dress I decided it looked quite nice . I don't think there's such a thing as flat hair in Mexico! haha. Some brides look great all night without having their hair up, unfortunately I don't think that will be my case. I have tons of pretty thick hair and it goes all frizzy in humidity haha, not a pretty picture .

Those are excellent news!! I'll look into it. Making the ceremony package free would be a huge help and I'd be super happy with it [emoji2]. But I'm not getting my hopes up yet as you might need to book their package for the ceremony and that's way too much money. I'll let you know what happens Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
