Disappointed
TinkerSofi replied to veryvalentine's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I understands that this totally leaves a bitter taste in your mouth and it does feel like it's friends off. Sometimes things heal and sometimes they don't, but only time can tell. From what you say it seems to me like she's looking for excuses. I wouldn't even try to please her anymore because she will always find a reason to say no. I'm sorry that you are going through this but I find that we all have an experience like that with at least one person in the wedding. They sound almost resentful that it's your day and not theirs. In that case, that's not your problem. It's not about you and it's more about their own personal issues. I agree that after someone offers to help you out financially you can try and make it work, you can go on your own, or if they're getting both adults paid for, could she bring the kids along? All I can advise you is to focus on all the people that are going, and who are gladly going . I hope things with your friend do work out though, even if she doesn't come to the wedding.- 23 replies

The only reason why we got the free private dinner is because we booked a week or two before they changed the rules. Honestly, I was so disappointed on myself for missing such a huge fine print statement, even after I had gone through everything with a fine tooth comb. As it turns out I wasn't crazy and my TA told me that we should get it. She had the handout for that time of the year saying that it was for US and Canadian couples. I noticed that the small print changed after Transat became the only tour company going there from Canada, so the girls might be right, Transat probably negotiated a really good rate for us Canadians and they can't give us any more discounts. When we booked, Transat had just done the deal, not even my TA knew before finding out the prices. If you're working with a TA that works with Karisma I'd ask her to see if there's anything you can negotiate since you have so many guests. Hopefully they budge on something!

@@Smellsey they had some really good sales this week! I just realized they sent a coupon for 20% off everything only valid yesterday. I went there and saw these little travel sewing kits and other things for the OOT bags but I hadn't seen the coupon so I didn't use it, boo (at least I didn't buy anything). Next time! Update on the bags: I did some research, Mrsktob didn't specify how the personalized the bags, but it looks like an iron on. It looked awesome! Unfortunately I did some research and an iron on will not work with the bags I got because they're that non-woven plastic material, and they will turn into a gooey mess when the iron is applied. I'm not going to risk it. However, I worked on the cricut and designed a little stencil. I still have to work out the logistics and try it out but I've attached a picture of what I designed so far. The letters will be cut out and I'll paint them white on the bags. I 100% ripped off the idea from wedding chicks and I admit it hahah. I designed it on cricut-craft room. I don't have the cartridges I used to make it, so in order to cut the design out I need to buy them. I'm trying to get a good deal on ebay for it before caving in and just buying it full price. For that design I technically need two cartridges, luckily the one with the maracas is only $5, vs. the $30ish that a regular one costs. The only way I can justify buying the font cartridge full price is that my mom might use use when making cakes and other things in her bakery. Update on the freebies from the hotel: I got an e-mail today from my WC, and from what she said we are approved for the free private dinner, yay! and they're making our ceremony free since we are upgrading quite a few things for both the ceremony and reception. They just need confirmation that we have enough rooms with our group to qualify but that shouldn't be a problem. My TA already sent her a list of guests so far. I started thinking about making the private dinner our welcome dinner the day after we arrive, for everyone to get to know each other and mingle. Then use the semi-private dinner for a rehearsal or the day before we leave. I asked Juan but he basically said "I don't care. We have free food anywhere anyways" haha.

I thought about doing a #. I'd just search for it and see if it has been used before. You can also use # on facebook and photos can be printed off. I've seen a website where you can print pictures from instagram but i can't remember what it's called. Maybe do a search of that and see what comes up. I like the idea of a scavenger hunt. I thought I might print off something for each table and put the hashtag there.

@@acw271011 I really like some of the designs on wedding chicks but some of them are too complicated to do with a stencil. I think maybe putting Muchas Gracias on a nice font would be nice . I'll see if I can use my mom's cricut to make the stencil since cutting is definitely not my forte (really, I should go back to kindergarten it's so bad haha). I'll check out gemline to see if I can steal some ideas. Today I've been working on the welcome brochures so I can send all my stationery to be printed all at once. I'll show you guys what I have as soon as it's completed

I agree. One of my vendors has some reviews of people who haven't even worked with him yet, which I don't think is fair. Don't get me wrong, I trust his work 100% and I'm confident on my decision but I don't think these reviews are helping him. If anything, if I was looking for a vendor I'd be a little weary. I would love to see reviews from people after they had their wedding. They are a lot more useful. I think it's a great idea to require people to have a minimum amount of posts. I don't know if this is possible, but it would also be nice to only allow people to write reviews on vendors after their wedding date.

I am SO thankful that I'm not having a local wedding. I would literally be thousands of dollars over my budget by now, just on decor, from going to Michael's and getting all these ideas. I always have to think, how am I going to bring all this down? and that kind of stops me from literally buying everything. They have so many signs and little docorations right now that would go soo well with my wedding that sometimes I just have to tell myself to walk away (while my heart breaks ) hahah.

It seems as though every day off I have I end up spending money haha. Anyways, at least it's wedding related this time around. This morning I saw a coupon for Michael's with 30% the entire purchase, and another one for 40% one item. I was planning on doing some ant work with the fans and I'm sure we all know the drill haha go in, use the 40% for one package, then come in with my mom's coupon, get another box, and so on until you have reached the desired amount of X product . However, I always like to go around anyway and see what they have (this really backfires sometimes because I want everything!). I came across some bags that I thought would be perfect for the OOT bags. I had resigned myself to using paper ones and putting a nice label on them, but these were $2 plus the 30% off, so they came to under $1.50 each. I just thought I wouldn't be able to get a better deal than that. Even if I used paper bags, by the time I factored in the cost of the labels, the ink, etc. they would have been at around the same price. They're pretty big, which is nice. They didn't have a huge variety of colors but I guess beggars can't be choosers so I got them in blue and green. They also had black but I thought colorful is better. So anyways, for those ladies still looking for OOT bags you can check these out. Here's a picture:

Our Dw: Dreams Riviera Cancun 17 Apr 2015

@@pddcmc I love those colors together and I think they look great like that, but if you don't want to spend all that time making all of them like this, how about just making a bow on them? Some of them could be coral and others turquoise. Although they might take just as long to make pretty bows haha. -

Guest Inviting Strangers To My Wedding?
TinkerSofi replied to rachelia160's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Just wow! I am beside myself how people can do this!? I can only imagine how you feel. This literally pisses me off and it's not even my wedding! Honestly, I would send the memo to everyone saying that if they didn't get an invite they're not invited to the wedding. Maybe add a line saying that this is an intimate wedding with only family and close friends. At this point I wouldn't even be worried about being rude, because they've forced you into this position. They have been extremely rude to you and you have no choice but to put a stop to the madness. I wouldn't even care who gets mad and if they say something I'd just reply "have you ever invited yourself to anyone else's wedding? what makes mine any different?" -
Custom Made Wedding Dress
TinkerSofi replied to snswedding2016's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I agree with you! I've tried it on so many times already just to see how it looks hahah. I find you tend to forget over time. I bought a sample gown also a bit over a year before our wedding so it's been sitting there for a while now too. I can't wait to do the final alterations and see how it will really look . Right now it's way too long so I can't really parade around it that much unless I want to trip or ruin the dress (both not very fun options). I think the whole wedding gown shopping is not for everyone. I know a few people who get really overwhelmed just thinking about it, so I think you made the right choice in your case. For me, I found that it was so much fun trying all these things on! I kinda wish I had tried on more, but I found my dress pretty quickly. I think if I had gone the custom dress route I would have kept wondering what else was out there. Maybe a lot of it has to do with how specific the image in your head is . Mine wasn't very specific at all! ahah
