  1. the blue ones also look really cool. I was just too lazy to get different colors from my basement for the picture hahah.
  2. @@veryvalentine It was @@kcole123, but I'm sure I'll have to do some convincing too haha. I haven't crossed that bridge yet. My brother is standing on my side so now I know what I'll be getting him
  3. All your stuff is always so cute! I love the groomsmen gifts and those are such a good idea! I might look into those for our guys . I totally get that it's an & sign, and I think it's perfect for a cake topper. Even if they don't know what it is it sill looks pretty cool
  4. Update on the Attire This weekend we went to pick out Juan's suit. He ended up buying it at Harry Rosen, and paying a little bit more than he wanted but just the look on his face was priceless haha (it was like the say yes to the dress moment but man version hahah). I was happy for him . He bought a made to measure suit because they were having a special and the price was around the same as some of the other ones he liked, with the plus that he could change all the things he didn't quite like on the already made ones and he got to pick the fabric. He ended up choosing a blue fabric, it's not navy and it's not light blue either, somewhere in between. I do like the color and it looks very nice on him. I really tried to persuade him to get a light suit, but he didn't like them and I agreed with him, if he was going to spend all that money, he might as well get something that he will definitely use again because he loves it. The suit should be in in about 2-3 weeks and I'll try to post a picture when it comes in. We both agreed we will have a backup outfit for him to change into once the party starts . It will probably consist of a short sleeve shirt and some nice bermudas. Funny story, the guy brought up two jackets at first, when he tried on this one, it look AMAZING! (that's an understatement and I cannot stress it enough haha) so I asked him, "that one is more expensive, right?" well, it turns out it was an Armani suit, and it was over $2000! hahah Juan basically took it off before he could fall in love with it too much . Emergency Kits for OOT bags I got a few more items for the OOT bags and I'm officially done with collecting things for them. yay! I decided to add some kind of emergency kit. All this is kinda funny because I started off being like, no bags! haha. I got a sewing kit for each bag at Michael's, they were $1.50 and I used a coupon on top, of course hahah. I swear, every time I travel I need these sewing kits! Anything from my dress strap coming undone, to my foot getting infected and needing an needle to draw out the infection. I thought that they could come in handy for at least some people. The scissors are total crap, but at least my mom and I had a good laugh about it hahah. Everything else is pretty good. This is the final list of items: - Sarongs for the ladies (ebay) - waterproof cell phone/money holder for the men (ebay) - Colorful Sunglasses (logolenses.com) - Pack of gum (superstore wholesale, although Dollarama had the same prices) - emergency kit: Diarrhea relief (Costco) Tylenol extra strength (Superstore wholesale) anti acid (superstore wholesale) nail file (dollarama, pack of 36) band aids (dollarama) All in all, we spent around $350 for 25 bags and their goodies for 50 people. I'm pretty happy with that, with the original budget being $300. I'm attaching some pictures but I'm still missing some items. All the emergency kit stuff will go in the polk-a-dot bag . For the Tylenol. I kind of cut some corners. I really wanted to include some in the bags but I couldn't find any of those cute individual packages that wouldn't put us over our budget. Therefore, I bought them in bulk and I'm including a few for each bag in a little package. What's left: - This week I'll be trying out the stencil to see if that's an option for the bags. I'll keep you guys posted - I'm finishing up the welcome brochure. MOH #1 is helping me out with one side of it. - creating a tag for the emergency kits/wedding survival kit. Update on the Table Numbers I bought some place holders from Michael's for the signs and so that project is basically finished. I attached a picture. I had to put a little square of cardstock on the back of each sign because the paper was too thin to be held by the place holder. They should work, even with the wind because those things are heavier than bricks! I will definitely bring only the necessary number of them haha.
  5. Aww you looked gorgous! I also love the picture from the cocktail hour haha it seems like you were having a blast . Can't wait to hear and see more!
  6. You know our engagement has been so long! 2 years and counting because of some things that didn't go as planned we had to wait a whole other year. We also have a few friends who got engaged after us and got or are getting married before. I might make a joke to Juan but not that I go around criticizing them haha. Have I been a bit jealous at times? I have to admit, sometimes, but not the envy kind of jealous. I think that Juan and have been ready to take the next step for a while and I couldn't help but to wonder how nice that would be, but not because I was angry at my friends for getting married before and I certainly didn't hold that against them. On the contrary I was happy for them, it's not a race. So I guess my feelings were more about Juan and I rather than about my friends getting married before haha, if that makes any sense. Therefore I still think it's not an excuse for your friend to act that way, she could have been a bit jealous but a good friend would never let that get in the way of feeling happy for the other person and being there for her. 7. It's tough. She's not a big fan of sweets to begin with so I think that's why she's been able to keep up with it. My dad on the other hand is kinda like me, we have such a sweet tooth! haha and he's suffering through it. I'll eat a cookie or something and he'll say "why are you doing this to me?!" hahah. I feel pretty mean. I gained quite a bit of weight after I had my last surgery. It's been years now, but I know it can totally take a toll on you. It took a long time to heal so I couldn't exercise and I got into some bad eating habits, the result wasn't good. I had gained about 14lbs as well, which is a lot when you're only 5' tall haha. @@calgarybride2015 I'm starting tomorrow again! How do you add friends? I can't find that feature.
  8. You could definitely travel with those as long as you bring them on carry on suitcases and well wrapped. There's also a lady over there that rents out decor so she might have what you need and you don't need to pay the outside vendor fee because you meet up with her and then bring your decor in. Search Love & Lace Wedding Decor on facebook, she has pictures there so you might be able to find what you're looking for, or talk to her about whether she can get anything like that for you. Just one suggestion, if your reception is outdoors, I would use LED candles so they don't keep blowing out with the wind . As for the flowers, the beauty is that water makes everything look better, so fake flowers will look great when under water and no one will know they're fake!
  9. @@calgarybride2015 Sadly I don't have a membership with goodlife . I go to anytime fitness and the one I go to doesn't have any classes. I'm following a program from bodybuilding.com and I have toned up quite a bit, but I'm having trouble being consistent with the workouts and the diet. I also do yoga once a week and that's a killer haha. I'm hoping once the wedding gets closer it will give me the kick in the pants I need hahah. I started tracking my calories on MFP again and then gave up again when I got too busy haha but it's time to start again and keep up with it! It really helps me to be more conscious of what I'm eating. Sometimes I think I give up because I'm in denial about how many calories I actually eat and it doesn't feel good when you're confronted with it! hahah
  10. The day is finally here!! I hope you have an amazing time and make unforgettable memories . Enjoy!
  11. I found Myfitnesspal really helpful too. Sometimes we don't think about what we're putting into our bodies until we start tracking. I also lost some weight using it. It is kind of a pain to enter everything in because some things are kind of hard to find, but it gives you a really good idea of where you're at and whether you're under or overeating (undereating can be just as bad). I want to tone up before the wedding but I agree with @@calgarybride2015, I know what I need to do, but when it comes down to doing it, not so easy haha. edit: My mom is trying to lose some weight for the wedding too, and her and my dad are using the South Beach Diet. It's not so much a diet but more of a way of eating, which is the nice thing. The first couple of weeks you do cut out carbs and sugar, which is probably the hardest part, but then you introduce them back in healthy quantities. They've lost quite a bit of weight, my mom has lost about 7kg (around 14lbs) in about a month. She was having trouble with anything else due to the hormonal changes of her age, but this seems to be working for her! You got this ladies!
  12. @@acw271011 great! Yeah, and you don't have to personalize them if you don't want to. I thought they're really good quality for the price and the colors are super nice and bright Last time I was at Michael's I saw the stamps by where all their Martha Stewart stuff is and sort of the first aisle of the scrapbooking section. On the other side of that they have the scrapbooking albums. At least the way the store I go to is set up, that's the first aisle. They come in a mason jar with a bunch of them. I posted the picture with only a few of them. You can always take the picture with you and ask one of the ladies there, if you tell them they come in a mason jar I'm sure they'll know where they are. They're not with the rest of the stamps though. I'm not sure if Ikea has those lanterns year around. I actually bought them used from a girl on kijiji hahah (I feel so cheap for even saying that hahah ). However, I do know that they bring them in every year and they have some now. I need a couple more so I need to head there to pick those up. There are some nice lanterns out there, but Michael's were always more expensive, and I can't remember about Oriental Trading. I really liked the ones from Ikea and the price was right. I'm not sure if it's worth it, but a lady over in the Riviera Maya rents out decor to brides. Her prices are really good and you just meet up with her, she gives you the stuff and then meet her again to return it. I think it would be worth it if you're renting a few things from her because you have to pay a transport fee (something like $10 or $15), you can find her if you search Love & Lace Wedding Decor on facebook. She has pictures of everything on there and prices. She has a few lanterns in different sizes.
  13. i love the dress! Especially the top, it's so classy! When I went dress shopping I was so disappointed because I spent countless hours researching dresses I liked, looking for the designer and then going to stores who apparently sold that designer, but then they'd all say "Oh, we don't have that one. i haven't seen that one. No, we don't have that either". It was frustrating to say the least. I agree with you that its hard to visualize dresses that aren't your size. I had the opposite problem, most dresses were at least 2-3 sizes too big and no matter how much they clip them you still wonder if that's how it will actually look. Bridesmaids had the same problem. I'm glad you found your dress though! If you check out my planning thread I posted the link where we got our glasses. I know they get cheaper the more you order, but can't remember what the starting price was.
  14. We have to pay everything by June 30th, and the wedding is August 13. I fill out a sheet and it gets charged to my credit card. Then there might be some extra fees depending on my set up etc. once we get there so we're bringing some extra money with us. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. No but make sure the music is in your phone rather than streaming it from somewhere else. You can keep your phone in airplane mode all week and the music in there still plays [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. That's such an awful excuse. It seems to me like the selfish one was her in this case, her wedding planning won't even really get rolling until after your wedding is done. Sounds like envy/jealousy to me, and no one needs any of that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. We're using those clear glass gems to scatter a few on each table, but they could work for the bottom of your tumblers. I got them at michaels and you get a bunch for about $4 if you have a 40% off coupon. You can also use colored ones if you want. The are heavy!! I guess that's what you want, but just thinking about packing them haha. If you just want clear ones I've seen some at dollarama too!
  18. I think you need to do what feels best for you, or whatever you want . The beauty about DW is that because they're so unconventional you can get away with breaking some of the rules. I didn't want a lot of bridesmaids because our wedding is not very big and I didn't want half the guests in our wedding party haha. I felt like it would make the rest feel really excluded. I chose My brother, and my two oldest friends. My fiance was going to have his two sisters and maybe a friend or two. One of his sisters now isn't sure if she can come, so she decided she won't be part of the bridal party. That leaves 3 people on my side and 2 or 3 people on his. I really don't think the numbers need to match, especially when the numbers are pretty even, like 1 and 2. The important thing is that if you want your sister up there with you then you should have her, no matter how many people are on your fiance's side
  19. Yes, sorry I meant to put details I was just leaving to go for dinner with some girlfriends. I was just too excited not to post anything! She has tons of other things too, so even if you don't like that style on you maybe she has something else that's more up your alley For the Jewelry details: I'm super happy with the jewellery ! I got it all from etsy, the store is called poetryjewelry. She has tons of things, including necklaces. Basically everything she makes is beautiful haha. There is a matching necklace to the earrings but I'm not wearing a necklace so I didn't get it. The final product is exactly as pictured on the site, so I'm really happy with it. The pearls don't look cheap, which is what I was worried about. Of course, if you look at them closely you can tell I didn't spend a fortune on this, but I think that's expected. I think I got what I paid for and I'm 100% happy with that. I totally recommend her work. I had seen these earrings ages ago, and no matter what else I looked at, I kept going back to these. Then I found the bracelet, which I thought would go well together and got them both. The earrings are not too big nor too small. They're just perfect, big enough to make an elegant statement but without being too overwhelming. I'd say they around 2 inches? maybe a bit less. She also makes them in silver, gold or rose gold. I'm more of a silver kind of gal, but I have to say, the rose gold looks gorgeous I have really small wrists, which makes shopping for bracelets hard sometimes. I realized that her standard size would be too big for me but I asked if she could make my bracelet smaller and she did (I gave her the measurement when I ordered). It fits perfectly. She had everything done and shipped within 2 or 3 days after ordering. The longest part was for it to go through customs, but I didn't have to pay duties. The shipping was reasonable too If you're looking for wedding jewelry go to her store here: https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/poetryjewelry?ref=l2-shopheader-name
  20. Jewelry is here! Yay!! I am in love with the earrings . I didn't take a picture of them on me because I had just come back from the gym and I would have ruined the look haha. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Yeah, it sucks, which is why I'm super excited about them waiving the ceremony fee. $950 when put into CAD is a lot right now! so that would help out so much in terms of our budget. I don't think it's going to get better either so I've come to accept it now. I basically blew all my money on buying the trips to Argentina, but the longer I waited for that the higher the prices would get (they can get up to $2000 each ticket ) so now it's time to start saving again and start paying the big wedding bills.
  22. It makes sense. My friends have all been super responsive but Juan's not so much and I know some of those relationships are not the same anymore. It is sad, but I always tell myself that it's better that people like that don't come so that they don't overflow the week with their negativity. Sometimes it takes moments like these to find out who your real friends are.
  23. I used stamps for my sleeves. I was going for a vintagy look so it worked and it looked awesome. I'm planning on using the stamps on some other wedding stuff Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
