  1. great! I guess that would make sense since I got the info before they opened up the new section
  2. I can't wait to hear more! I checked out the pictures on fb and it looks like you guys had a great time! That cenote you went to after chichen itza is one of my favorite places that i've ever been to. I love that place . Chichen is pretty cool too! Anyway I can wait to see more pictures, wedding pictures!!
  3. I love the idea of a photobook as a gift for family members. I got the idea from @@calgarybride2015 when she thought of hers so I'm interested in what you guys end up going with. I'm loving your nee profile picture by the way
  4. Yay! I had a week from hell too. Not because the hours were that long, although I did have to stay late every day, but because I got a bunch of difficult clients and things just went wrong. Let's just say I'm glad it's the weekend! Let me know what you hear about the deluxe rooms with king beds. I think my TA said there weren't any but I'm not sure and I want to know what you hear Cool! Yeah I think they do have lights. I'm guessing it's enough since they don't allow you to put string lights up there (they don't have the infrastructure apparently). I'm excited to see what it looks like with uplighting too to get the party started
  5. Yeah we do get nickel and dimed. Well if that happens to us (knock on wood), I'll definitely try and negotiate to get at least 50%. Everything is negotiable in Mexico haha. For those who are struggling with the play list my WC sent me this list of songs for the ceremony. We'll be entering to different songs but I'm just checking the rest of them out. I loled when I saw Air on the G string lol. I know it's a famous classic song but I couldn't help hahha on second thought I don't know about some of these songs haha. I'll probably take it as a start and fill in with my own songs . Some of the classical songs are beautiful songs but they're kind of sad for a wedding, or that's the impression I get at least.
  6. considering that if you are paying for the sky deck and you get relocated you don't get your money back they better not charge for moving a table! Ok, I lied, they said they would return up to 30% of the surcharge, which is still kind of BS since it's not like they have to relocate half way through, they make the call before starting to set everything up.
  7. My fiance is the one that keeps me sane when I go store after store looking for a size 5 or 5 1/2 shoe and no one has any haha. Now that I discovered Nordstrom and their beautiful shoes I might have to buy more from there haha.
  8. It depends what time of the year you go. August is low season so transat makes one trip a week only, which means you need to stay either 7 or 14 days [emoji17]. Or you can void your trip back and then stay another few days and take a flight with another airline. However with that. you're not only missing on what you paid in your package for your flight back, but also you need to pay the room and flight separately for those extra days. 9. I know what you mean. The totes can be expensive and if the hotel already give them to you it might be an overkill. You can also put that money towards something else for your guests! What do you have planned to give them? (Maybe you've mentioned that before and I missed it. I'm sorry). Depending on what you have you could either use the label on tags for the gifts or just get paper bags and stick the label on to there. I think that would look nice . That was our plan before I found bags that we could afford Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I love it! You guys are really making me wish I had picked gold as one of my colors. It looks really nice! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. This is exactly why I love this board, people are not catty, we're all really supportive of each other. We're there when people need a hand, whether it's advice or getting something for someone . I really do feel like we're all friends, kind of like pen pals I guess, but thank god for the internet haha. That's so nice that you were able to get the shoes you wanted. I know all too much about the dilemma of shoes haha, there's so many lovely ones out there it's very hard to decide!! I love the feeling when you know you've found the right ones though
  11. I had the same experience. I used to be with Brigitte but then got switched to Ivis and the responses would take about a week to come in. All of a sudden the last few ones have taken a few days only. I'd try to email her again and ask whether they got your last email since it's been a while. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I told Juan to make a list of the songs he wants and he said he has a spreadsheet, I don't know how long this list is haha. I should start my own list, I'm so lazy... Every time I sit down to do it there's other things that catch my attention haha
  13. @@racht33 a GIWC is a travel agent that is "Karisma approved" I guess we could call it haha it's stands for Gourmet Inclusive wedding coordinator. They work pretty close with the hotel and if you're in Canada that's the only way you can get perks, by booking through them. For example, I choose the free hair and makeup package that comes with a few other things as well. You can also choose a free cocktail hour. @@catrionaanne I'm so sorry to hear this . I didn't have any problems getting the venues, but probably because no one is nuts enough to get married in August over there haha. I also bugged them until they approved it. I think I sent them an email every few weeks asking about it. I would definitely take the Oriolla Grill into account. It's still outside, if it rains you're covered and they make it look really nice for the reception. That's definitely our plan b if it rains. Something I recommend is getting access to your wedding builder and check that all changes are made on paper for you. The way I've been working is I email the resort's wedding coordinators directly and CC my TA on it. It seems to be working fine and our TA has been able to fight a few things for us since she's in the loop. I know it's kinda late now, but for the future.
  14. your coordinator sounds like one sweet lady! haha. There's no way ours would volunteer to go get us a piñata without charging us another $200 for it hahah. I think she deserves a gift and i'm sure she'll be happy with what you have planned . I'm happy your guys chose the glittery table numbers. They're just so awesome. I love glitter but I don't think it really goes with our wedding (too bad haha) I think the bags turned out great! Are you doing an iron on transfer?
  15. thankfully all this played out as we thought it would. His gf said she wouldn't come so plans as usual now. I did learn my lesson though and I'm not getting involved for anyone else. At least they're good news. I feel totally mean for saying "it's good news that his gf is not coming" but it would have honestly messed everything up again. Now to keep on planning! The ties were shipped today, I can't wait to see them! Other than that, next on my to do list are: - the dreaded playlist. I don't know why i'm putting this off so much. - the photobooth - finalizing the tables and making the tags for the fans
  16. @@ashhtayy oh ok. thanks. My WC sent me some pictures with lights. She told me the lights are built in but I don't know if that will be enough. I asked about some party lights and if we could rent something without renting the whole DJ equipment (because no one knows how to work it anyway haha). She sent me the choice of renting a light up dancefloor. However, for the amount of people we have that was another $1300, and for that price we might as well get a DJ for $1500 . She also gave us the choice of renting some uplighting for $100 each so I think we're going to do that, but just wondering how many would be enough and how they would be set up. I think it would look super pretty for after dinner I'm glad you found a good TA! Maybe he can also help you look around for other resorts that tick things off your wish list before you make your final decision . It seems like your old TA failed to give you a lot of important info and it sucks when you find these things afterwards. You know your guests best, but if I was one I wouldn't mind having to stay in two double beds. It wouldn't be my preferred arrangement, but at the same we don't spend much time in our rooms so it's not a big deal. I do know that some people care more about this than others. If the resort still doesn't quite convince you, I would sit down with your TA and tell him what you love about AF and see if he can find anything else that meets those requirements. I honestly don't know why they did the whole double beds thing, it really sucks
  17. I don't know how you do it. I'm having a long week and can't wait for it to be over! hahah I'll give you my brother's recipe for colds: - a few shots of jagermeister (enough to warm you up haha) - you put on some sweatpants and a sweater - you have a nap with as many blankets as you can He says it works like a charm every time and he feels so much better when he wakes up hahah.
  18. Awww!! I got so excited looking at your pictures. You guys looked great! I have a few faves that look like they were so much fun to take! Everything came together so nicely. I also loved the ones with the invites and all the small details Congratulations again!
  19. @@ashhtayy such a helpful post. Thanks for all the feedback! We're having both our ceremony and reception at the sky deck so I'm happy that your TA liked it for both! I wanted something like that since before we started shopping for hotels haha. It is so hard knowing all these things when you have never been. Did your TA by any chance see the sky deck at night? How is the lighting up there? Would it be enough for the reception or should we rent more? I meant to ask you that before she left and then I lost track of time I want to go NOW!!
  20. I think the sky deck should be fine for the heat because of the breeze. We're doing both things up there, but the garden is really nice when set up, same with the Oriolla Grill, I've seen it set up for weddings and it looks very nice , so there's definitely options We definitely can't buy the yatch trip for people so we're hoping that a bunch of us can get together and go but everyone would have to pay their own part.
  21. I love the glitter one! How can he say no? haha. I love it because we have a lot of the same issues, and not just with the wedding but also in deciding what kind of furniture we want for the house. He becomes so picky that sometimes I don't even tell him when I make decisions, whoops as well (although they're usually pretty simple decisions like a sign here or a flower there). Or I just give him two choices and he has to pick one haha. How about he comes up with his own idea? I find Juan loves to pick my ideas apart but when you ask him he has none of his own haha. Not so easy then I guess
  22. Totally, this is the stressful part, just finding a resort and then getting everyone booked. We're both August brides yay! I can let you know how things play out during the summer over there haha. We booked last June and it seems there aren't all that many people getting married in August, so I don't think you should have any trouble securing your date . August also happened to be the best time for us and our friends, so it will be hot but we didn't have many choices . What locations did you choose? or are you choosing? I haven't planned much in terms of activities. Juan really wants to do a yatch tour that we came across. It's not that expensive depending on how many people go and you can do fishing, snorkeling, karaoke, just a bunch of things. It's a half day tour too so I think it would be a lot of fun and it doesn't take up people's whole day. I run it by some of my friends and some are worried of getting sea sick because that happened to them while on a catamaran cruise. However, I would think a yatch is much more stable than a catamaran and so they might not be as likely to get sea sick? I don't know, which is why this is still kind of up in the air. If we can get enough people to make the private prices reasonable then we'll probably do it. I don't think we will have time to do more than two excursions during the week, which is fine. We do want to head to the clubs one day, so a club crawl might be a good idea!
  23. no, as far as I knew the deluxe rooms always have two double beds. We got the one bedroom for ourselves and then got upgraded. I'm not sure what the deal is with the new rooms, they might have maybe a queen size bed for some of them? do you have anyone that you can ask? a travel agent maybe? I know you're not working with one but maybe she can answer that question for you. I've stayed at hotels with Juan with two double beds and it was fine but it's understandable if you don't want that for your guests. I felt bad about my guests too and that was the one thing I was a bit iffy about but surprisingly a lot of them ended up booking the one bedroom! The one bedroom was about $200 more per person at least when we booked. welcome to the club of AF brides . When is your wedding? I'm getting super excited for ours. We went out for dinner with my friends the other day and everyone was talking about it and how excited they are to go to Mexico all together!
  24. that was exactly our dilemma, since people won't really be involved, unless everyone takes a turn (which would take even longer), I'm afraid people will lose their dancing mojo and then it's hard to get the party started again.
