I Leave In 3 Days, Ladies!
TinkerSofi replied to beckys98's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
yay!! this is so exciting! I'm sure you'll get the packing done . somehow it seems we always find the time. Once I packed 4 hours before I had to be at the airport because I didn't know if I was traveling or not haha. I don't recommend going to that extreme, but just to show you that it will happen Best of luck on your wedding day/week and I can't wait to hear more when you come back -
maybe do your research a little bit. I'm pretty sure that if you use an ipod it has to be a nano or a touch so it allows people to swipe through playlists. Also maybe check what's the oldest generation you can get away with. That way if push comes to shove you can probably find an ipod one or two generations older and it will be a lot cheaper than a current one. Hopefully I understand your question. The short answer is yes! You could change some of the default settings and rather than letting it wait before going on to the next section, it can go on by itself automatically and seamlessly. Technically one of you two could easily manage the app if you want to change something midway. Let's say the bouquet toss doesn't take you the whole song, your fiance can be there to override the app, just one swipe and you're back to the party. You really don't need someone by the phone the whole time, only when you're switching gears in the wedding, and it takes one second, one or two swipes and done! Let me know if you have other questions. Sometimes it is hard to explain using words hahah.

I finally got a chance to put all the music on my phone and set the app up. The verdict is: I strongly recommend it. I had playlists done for the different parts of the wedding and it took me about 5min to choose on the app the playlists and songs that will get played for each part of the wedding (the ceremony, signing of the registry, reception dinner, party, etc) and it takes about 5 min to learn how to use it. All you have to do the day of the wedding is assign one person to control the app, and all they need to do is swipe to go from one section to the next. As long as they have a timeline and know what's coming next you should be ok . Whenever you pause a song or go on to the next section of the wedding the song fades out, which is a nice touch, rather than a sharp stop to the music. You have a choice as to whether you want to shuffle the songs or play them in the order you arrange them. You can also allow the app to repeat the playlist (I guess not a big deal during the pre-ceremony and dinner, but that would be bad during the party because people will notice right away that the song has already been played). I just made sure I had more than enough songs for the time that we had. So if the ceremony is expected to be 30min I put 45-60min of music. You can organize the order of the events to fit your wedding, so for example, the default for the app is to have the first dance after the dinner music. However, we are going to be doing our first dance as soon as we walk in. I was able to move up the "first dance" section to right after the entrance song. You can also add sections that are not in the app, so you can customize it to your event. Another thing I liked is that after certain songs, the app has the option to wait. This means that when you swipe to end a section, it won't move on to the next one automatically unless you swipe again. An example for this is, after the groom and bridal party make their entrance to the ceremony, you want to wait to play the song for the bride's entrance, because the bride might need to get settled or whatever. So you swipe once to finish the bridal party's entrance, and then swipe again to start the entrance of the bride song. The only downside to this app, and maybe there is an easy solution, I just haven't figured it out yet, is the fact that if you have the cake cutting or the bouquet toss in the middle of the party, when you go back to the party playlist, the playlist starts from the beginning. This means that it would repeat the same songs over again that were already played, rather than having an option to "continue the party" and pick up on the party playlist where it left off. My fix to that is dividing all of your party songs into different playlists and organizing it so that on the app you would have the playlists in the following order "party 1", "cake cutting", "party 2", "bouquet toss", "party 3", etc. That way whenever you go back to the dancing, the songs will not be repeated . I don't know if that makes any sense. Overall, for $8 it's a really good and if you're not getting a DJ this is the next best thing. It really takes off the guessing game for whoever is MCing, as all they have to do is swipe to go to the next section. As long as they have a detailed timeline of the wedding and you keep communicating with them, anyone should be able to do the job . I hope that helps some of you on the fence. If you can find something like this for android that would be great, but the apple one is really good!

that's one of the best ones I've seen. Too bad I have most of my stuff, but such a good deal! haha

I know! It's my go to mall and you can find such great prices usually [emoji16]. My kind of mall haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Another deal alert for those that are leaving pretty soon (or you just like to plan ahead?). I was at CrossIron mills the other day and there's a store that sells luggage that's having a sale, they have their suitcases for 25% off and samsonite luggage at buy one get one 50% off. They had some nice hard case ones of all sizes and colours. I can't remember what the store is called, but it's beside the food court. If you're at the second cup (or starbucks? in that corner, around the corner from the washrooms) keep going, pass the food court and it's in that next series of stores. I hope that's clear . I don't know if there are many luggage stores in there anyway so you should be able to find it, even if my directions suck haha.

We got the lanterns from IKEA too haha, I have 7 of them I think and Juan also gave me that look when we started piling things up that we need to bring haha. The plan is to give each family member one to bring, that way we don't fill up one whole suitcase with this . Just in case, I'm wrapping them all in bubble wrap before giving them to our family members.

@@racht33 I honestly didn't really think about it until I saw the ones that @ bought. Even if you don't have an indigo, I love her personalized ones . That etsy store had a bunch of really cute ones. We're planning to do a salsa dance. We've been learning for about 2 years so I'm hoping that it will look somewhat decent hahah. We definitely need to practice, but I feel that the wedding has been taking over everything so we haven't had much time to practice lately. This will kind of force us to set the time aside @ exactly. I'm feeling a lot better about it now but I try not to mention it to Juan because he just flies off the handle hahah. I think it was just a bunch of things that happened sort of at once, not just related to the wedding and this was kind of like the cherry on top. I was talking to a friend the other day who's also getting married in July and he said that he's super stressed out as well. I think it just comes with a wedding, once payments are due things get stressful, people back out, drama starts. Today the sun is coming out, I feel a lot better and i'm focusing on the things I need to do with a smile on my face

Yeah, I was afraid that a normal piece of paper would be blowing all over the place. Maybe one big cue card? That was my plan but then I saw this and the price was right so I got it. I thought it would look cute. It doesn't match my wedding colours but whatever, I'm over that at this point and chances are no one will even care haha.

this is the third time that I try to write a response, hopefully it works this time! hahah I absolutely love your invitations and I'm a bit jealous that mine didn't look that good haha. I think the charm adds a really nice touch, even if they take forever. I love what you got from homesense. I never even thought to check there for wedding stuff. I think the only thing I got from there was the box for our guestbook cards and that was just by chance. I found while looking for house things. That's great news about your BM! Getting a job has been tough for a lot of people lately here in the city, so it's good to hear that she landed the job she wanted . I'm sure she'll book pretty soon.

@@yycbride2016 thanks. Yeah the book looks quite big in that picture but it's about the size of an iphone, super cute . I honestly don't know why he would do that. Apparently he couldn't get the time off work, but it would have been nice to at least get a text message, sometime before the last 3 days before the deadline (they thought the deadline for paying was today). When it comes to disorganization, flakiness, and drama us Latinos take the cake so I shouldn't be surprised. It was too much to ask to have no drama when payments were due. I guess we kind of live in a soap opera, that's the best way to describe it haha. I hope your guests don't do the same. Maybe some will drop out, but you might also get some more guests from now until the wedding. I don't know how it works for you but for us, anyone who booked at our hotel through our TA counted towards the group, whether they booked in the first room block or not. @@snswedding2016 they have so many cute things!! I wanted to take half the store. I also love all kinds of stationery so I want to take everything usually haha. I already saw a few things i want for our new house I'm very excited about the dancing. I feel like the wedding is just eating up our time and we're not spending a lot of quality time together. Also when I get stressed I sort of get into my own little bubble, I don't talk much and don't want to be around people, so that hasn't helped. I'm just hoping that the moves won't be too high above our skill level so that we can actually enjoy it rather than worrying about learning all these moves haha. Our teacher will be the lady who teaches us the group lessons during the weekends, so she kind of knows where we're at in terms of skills

Today I went to indigo looking for a gift and I found the perfect little journal for my wedding vows. @ made me consider this and I had no idea where I'd write them. I certainly didn't want a piece of paper blowing in the wind + my shaky hands haha but I wasn't sure that I wanted to buy it off of etsy. I love the ones on there but we've had quite a few unexpected expenses lately (wedding related and not) so I'm basically trying to save wherever I can. I had a gift card for indigo so that worked out really well [emoji16]. Friday is the final day for our trips deadline. Yay!! I can't wait to hear the final numbers [emoji4]. Other than a few last min drama, things have gone quite smoothly, maybe my TA would disagree hahah. We just had one person cancel last min and didn't tell anyone, leaving their roommate with single occupancy. He didn't tell us he wasn't coming and I found out through my TA two days ago. Luckily we were able to sort everything out (not without some drama as well) and the crisis was averted, but let's just say we weren't too happy about that, especially Juan. Not because he cancelled but because of the way we found out. There's still no word from him. On top of this, work has been quite stressful. I'm just a mess of anxiety and I don't know how I'm going to get through the next two months. I hope things settle down once we have paid everything. I'm really trying to let things slide as much as I can but it's hard when things just keep piling up. I basically have the song let it go on repeat in my head haha. Tomorrow we start our dance lessons for our first dance! I'm excited but don't know what to expect haha. I'll let you guys know how it goes Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I got the app for iphone because that's what I have. Maybe try finding a used ipad or borrowing one from someone . Another idea is trying to get an ipod. They're not as expensive and i'm sure you can find used ones . I've got my playlists made but haven't had a chance to put them in my phone and trying the app out. I can let you know how it goes and whether it's worth going through the trouble of getting an ipad or an ipod.

I think the terrace would be great! I'm actually considering switching now that about 25% of our guests have cancelled . I don't know if it's worth paying the $1700 for 30 people. Who knows, I might be bluffing and might just keep it anyway hahah. I didn't make the pomanders. I got them from Michael's. I haven't seen them in a while. I had bought 4 and then thought I needed 2 more but they didn't bring any more. Turns out it was a good thing because I think 4 of them will be plenty .

@snswedding spoke with one of the Lomas representative and she got some more info on the beach location. i think the gazebo is very pretty there actually. I like it more than the new beach location (which is an upgrade). The only downside being that it's really close to the pool. Depending on the time of your wedding you may or may not have that many people around. Yes, it's not as private as the sky deck, but it all depends on how picky you are with privacy

thank you We are both doing them in Spanish because it's both our first language and I would feel silly doing them in English. I'd feel like I'm putting more of a show rather than making a vow to my husband (wow, that word sounds so weird). However, if your fiance speaks English only I think it would make sense to do them in English, unless he also understands Spanish. Then I would be super torn too haha.

Everything is looking great. I was the monster when it came to decorations, and then reading people's planning threads didn't help haha, so many fun ideas out there! My suggestion is to keep in mind that you have to bring all this stuff down there. That stopped me many times from buying extra things.

Creative Wedding Reception Favors?
TinkerSofi replied to dclodge's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I found them here. I was super happy about them and they're probably the thing i'm most excited about our OOT bags! http://www.logolenses.com/shop/wayfarer-sunglasses/54a78112e29e9#choose_side_arms_options -
Juan said the same! he's like, why are you doing that now, let's do that over there. I told him that if he plans to have ANY sort of vacation over there we better start doing some things here. He also wanted to assemble all the flowers once we got there. If he only knew how long each of these things took me he'd know that if we left it all to be done in Mexico, by the time the wedding rolled around I would be a crazy b***, and i'm sure he doesn't want to deal with that hahah.
