I know our resort at least only has wi fi for us two but anyone else needs to pay. I know some resorts offer wi fi, but from previous experience, that doesn't always mean that it's good, reliable, wi fi. Maybe other people who have gone to the resort can chime in i'm a total foreigner and will have to google what a grommet is haha

Yeah! She's really been on top of everything . this whole time I thought we'd be staying at planet hollywood, but apparently I was wrong hahal. Basically my friends put this trip together. We're going to the elara hilton I think it's called? I guess I'm going wherever these girls take me lol. I trust them

I'm really sorry to hear about your nephew, that must be tough and I agree that it would be hard planning a wedding given the circumstances. I think you guys have found a great compromise and you'll love Thailand. I don't think I have ever spoken to anyone who didn't like it there. People think DW are easier to plan but I truly disagree. They're just as stressful. I don't have any info on Thailand, but I think the best thing is to contact the TA that you were working with perhaps? or any other TA that does trips to Asia. I think you can get a lot of valuable info that way. They usually have an idea of which are the best deals for staying places, traveling between islands, etc. That's what I would do at least. best of luck!

We found the unicorn!! yay!! hahaha We got a bit of money back from our trips. It wasn't much, only about $60 per room, but still something . I saw them $100 cheaper the other day but by the time everyone who needed to cancel did so, payments went through, etc. the prices went up again. Also, my TA tried to put the guarantee through when they were cheaper but because technically we had more rooms booked (many hadn't cancelled yet) we didn't get it. Oh well, something is still better than nothing, right? So that's one thing to keep in mind ladies, if a big percentage of your guests are thinking of cancelling they better do it sooner rather than later because it might affect whether your get any money back, and if so, how much . Our TA has been a dream through all of this. I can't imagine that it was easy for her keeping track of all the changes but she did it! Now crunch time begins! I don't know how much I'll get done this weekend, since i'm leaving for Vegas on monday with my girlfriends. Yay!! I'm excited for that and for relaxing by the pool

Yeah I would have put more of a fight if it wasn't noon and the deadline for the money to be in was at 5. I just wanted to get things solved but I think either Juan or I are going to say something to him along the lines of WTF buddy? Hahah We really tried the day before to make It crystal clear that we could not pay if he switched and I thought that problem was solved but I guess not. I was just tired of fighting and rounding people up to either cancel or pay and putting out fires for the last week. It is what it is now I guess. I just got a call from my TA but couldn't answer because I was at work. I'm anxiously waiting to hear back, hopefully it's good news!! [emoji4][emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Yeah. I think at some point I have to tell him because it's just festering all this anger inside. These guys basically live in la la land their whole lives so I really don't expect them to understand our position. Everything is just a huge improvisation act for them and that's what makes me angry because life doesn't work like that for most of us. Yeah it's pretty awesome that he likes to dance. He doesn't love it, but he's willing to do it anyway. The only problem is that he gets embarrassed very easily and doesn't have enough confidence in his skills so we barely go out and social dance. I keep telling him that's how he gets better but I understand how it's a lot more intimidating for guys than for girls [emoji4] About the veil weights. If it's really windy out I won't wear them. When the wind is moderate they hold down nicely but if it's out of control, the veil actually looks better blowing all over the place than having these weights sticking to one another. Mind you, I tried it on a day where I think if it's more windy than that we'd be getting married in a hurricane hahaha. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk thank you! They do sound way better in spanish, don't they?

@@deecol sometimes you'd be surprised! Juan is so the one to be like "let's not spend money on stupid things", and usually his list of stupid things is a lot longer than mine haha, but yet he's the one who bought the walkie talkies . I think if guys can see the practicality behind it, they're more likely to agree, at least my fiance is like that. Walkie talkies are so awesome because you can communicate about when the guys are leaving for the ceremony location, then you can make sure you're not leaving at the same time, etc. It's also great for when you have family members across the resort to communicate about where to find each other or things like that.

@@breezie wow!! that's an amazing price!! I'm paying $300 for my alterations, but too late haha. I think my brother might have stopped by there the other day to get a suit pant hemmed. When he told me how much they charged me it was a really good deal! (ps: maybe not, he got it done at the mall in Chinook) I'll let my mom know, since she has to get some alterations done on her dress.

@yycbride2016 @@calgarybride2015 @@snswedding2016 yeah, just unbelievable how some people are. The way it worked was that originally this guy's sister did not have anyone to room up with, so someone was going to have to pay single occupancy, so she roomed up with my MOH (for whom I'm using one of the free people so she can come). The free pass only works for double occupancy. When this guy's brother cancelled and he was left alone, he was all too quick to room up with his sister now, leaving someone else hanging. We specifically told him that we are sorry that things worked out that way, but it wasn't our fault and we couldn't pay the difference between the double and single occupancy for my MOH. Well, he didn't care and did what he wanted anyway. Worst part is that, that a few people told us that they wanted to come but had no one to go with and the single occupancy became too much for them. Thus, had we known about this situation months ago, all this drama could have been avoided. @@calgarybride2015 Yeah they're mostly his friends. I guess they're our friends now but they knew Juan first. I guess I'm glad that all this stuff is over. It was truly a nightmare. I can rest today haha.

welcome to the forums! I think if you're going to be booking October 2015 for February 2017 you should be ok. We booked June 2015 for our August 2015 wedding . I know February is in more high demand than August, but I'd just make sure that you're decided on what you want and make sure that that's what you're getting before you even finalize your contract. Maybe talk to your TA and see if she can help you out with that. My TA was great in communicating with the hotel. I think the reason why most of us don't talk about the pier is because of the limit on the amount of people you can have there. There's a maximum of 32 people and most weddings are bigger than that. However, it is a gorgeous location! There is a fee to have your ceremony there but it's not as high as the sky deck it's $370. You can also have your reception there and there's a $15pp, just like the sky deck. It seems new brides are having trouble getting accepted to the group. I honestly have no idea what could be going on with that. In terms of the always and forever packages, I wouldn't be too worried that it's going to look bland. The locations are beautiful and you don't need much decor. It's all white linens, so you can rent table runners from Lomas or bring your own, you can also add colored napkins and things like that . I'll try and see if I can steal some pictures from the FB page until they accept you.

Deadline has passed, numbers are confirmed. We have 32 guests, 27 of them will be staying at our resort. All adults, no kids. Yesterday the drama reached its climax. The guy who was left alone in his room royally screwed us over, hours from the deadline. He arranged things so that he wouldn't have to pay extra, but we would; despite us being clear and explaining to him that we just could not afford for him to make those changes. Now I have to pay $600 more, money that was not in our budget whatsoever. I honestly hope he doesn't come because I 100% don't want him there anymore. I was just too nice to uninvite him yesterday despite the fact that he obviously didn't give a crap about us. I should tell him to go just go eat at the buffet the day of the wedding and join us only for the dancing hahaha, wouldn't that be something? but who am I kidding, I'd never be that rude to someone, even if they deserve it. We're waiting today to hear back from our TA today with the final word as to whether we get a price drop guarantee or not. Crossing fingers! For those that don't know how that works, at least with Transat, the tour company has to have the amount of free seats available on the plane, plus the hotel needs to have our amount of rooms free, in the category we booked. They basically need to cancel everyone's trip and re-book them at the cheaper price. It truly sounds like finding a unicorn, but I'm still hoping for the best haha.

What Should I Write My Vows On?
TinkerSofi replied to rachelia160's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I got mine at chapters/indigo. It's a cute little journal, about the size of my iphone 5. I was thinking the other day that I'll write my vows as the first thing, and then keep the rest as a journal of our first year together. I think it will be nice to go back years from now and relive that . I still have my journals from when I was a kid and oh my, they crack me up hahah. I was also thinking of putting them on the table so no one has to carry them. I'll post a picture in a bit. I realized I never downloaded it from my phone, so I'll post it from there Here it is. I love this thing hahaha. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Anyone Using Myfitnesspal To Get Fit For Their Wedding?
TinkerSofi replied to Meandhim's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
that's what I've read too, that the chest strap is the most accurate. There's also so many polar trackers out there I was a bit lost haha -
Anyone Using Myfitnesspal To Get Fit For Their Wedding?
TinkerSofi replied to Meandhim's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
how does the polar tracker work? I realized after wearing my mom's fitbit for a while that I like it more when I can just track my workouts. That's all I need really. So you have a watch and a chest strap? Is that uncomfortable? -

I do agree with @@calgarybride2015 though. I think if it creates more stress, definitely stick to what you have. I find birdcages look weird on me so I'm biased haha. Maybe try a few things on and try to envision it all put together. If you like either one I'd stick with what I have. I am all too familiar with second guessing my things last minute and I'm really trying to control myself. I think either way you can't go wrong

thanks! I think the googly eyes will be a hit haha, I love them! I'll definitely post a little video of the dance. We're planning on doing it first thing when we walk into the reception, so we will still have our photographer and videographer . Also, the other night, we went out, I had some wine and then we went practicing lol. Let's just say that I got dizzy a lot quicker, so I told Juan, that's the reason why I want to do it first thing, otherwise I won't enjoy myself knowing that we still have the dance to do haha.

Update of wedding activities during the weekend First Dance: I'm so excited for this!! We had our first class last thursday and we have been practicing quite a bit. I was able to get the steps right away but it's taking Juan a bit longer to remember the sequence of things so i'm helping him out. However, it's coming along nicely (even if Juan thinks otherwise haha, he's a perfectionist). We have our second class this thursday and we might be able to learn the second half of the routine and then it's all about practicing and ironing out the details so that it looks super sharp on the wedding day. We won't look like professional dancers, of course, but whatever. This is something fun and I think we look pretty darn good anyway! I was telling Juan that I'm so glad that we've been taking lessons for quite some time. I don't know how we'd be able to learn this routine without the past year or two of practice. We would have definitely needed more classes and it would have been overwhelming. It still is, especially for guys because they have to lead and remember the steps, but at least the moves are similar to things we have already done in class. I don't want to discourage those that don't have previous experience and want to try something like this. It's doable, but make sure you have plenty of time before your wedding. Right now Juan and I are both overwhelmed with everything else, if we had to learn salsa from scratch right now I don't think it would be possible, just too much pressure. Just like you ladies said, it's been nice to spend the time with him. I was kind of mad at him yesterday, we were kind of arguing, and then we started dancing and laughing. He laughs at me because and says that the second I start dancing my anger just goes away and my face changes right away haha. So, new form of therapy? Just as long as you're patient and understanding with each other. Dancing has taught us a lot about us as a couple. It's great! Photo Booth: One thing to check off the list! Last week I worked on the props and I think they're pretty much done. I bought a printable of some fun signs from an etsy seller, FunnyFaceProps. Here's a picture of a few of them already cut out and set up, I bought the 26 pack: Then, for $3 I bought some card stock props (moustaches, hats, sunglasses, etc) from ebay. They come already cut out and assembled so I thought it was a good deal. There's 23 of them in the set and shipping was free! I'm still waiting for them to arrive. Today, I decided to scavenge our halloween and party vault to see if I could find any other cool things and I'm impressed with the stuff I found! Here's some of it: I think with that, the photo booth is settled and done! The few friends that know about it are pretty excited. Wedding DJ app: I bought this app to set up our music and I am amazed with it. It's so good and such a great choice! I posted a more detailed "pre-review" on this thread: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/topic/79242-dj-app/ I'll post a final review of it after the wedding to let you guys know how it went on the actual event Deadline day is here!!! We've had a few hiccups today with getting the last few people booked. For those that hadn't payed their balance at this point I kind of knew they would probably cancel, which is ok. Now, FYI ladies, if people put down their deposit and then don't pay the full balance but don't cancel, your airline might hold you accountable for those tickets. In other words, they leave you and your fiance on the hook for that money. I didn't know this until friday. Today when my TA told me that a few people still hadn't contacted her to let her know if they'd be paying or cancelling, my anxiety started to go up again. I started contacting people and letting them know to please make sure they cancelled their trips if they weren't going to pay and told them that otherwise Juan and I would have to pay and we just didn't have the money. I probably didn't sound like my nicest self, but whatever, it's crunch time haha. Then also, this morning someone else cancelled, leaving their brother with single occupancy, on the most expensive room (which is a brutal difference). The person who is now staying alone, wanted to change things around so that he wouldn't have to pay single occupancy, but that meant that someone else would have to, and I didn't think that was really fair either. We basically told him that he either pays for single occupancy, gets someone else to come with him or he's not coming. We're just done putting out fires for people. I just really wish people would get their crap together sometime before the last 6 hours before the deadline. They had a year! Even my TA told me today that it was too bad that people waited until the last minute to do this because it leaves us without many options. I honestly feel embarrassed towards my TA knowing that my group is so disorganized. One more thing before I end this novel of a post: I tried the veil weights today. It's a pretty windy day so I put my veil and went outside. I think they worked pretty well. The veil does move, but it wasn't all over me or anything. I had a summer dress on and that was blowing all over the place but not the veil. Let's hope for the best on the wedding day!
-
that's exactly my plan. We're building a house right now and have close to nothing for it haha, so a lot of my decor will end up around my house . I'm excited to reuse some of the decor, and it also makes it more worthwhile to get it all.

your decorations look great! and I think they'll look amazing when everything is put together. Those lanterns are such a steal right? we bought the same ones haha. I made dinner for my family last week for my birthday so I used one as a center piece hahah. Michael's has so many beautiful things! and with the coupons the prices are not bad at all. I had to stop going so regularly because I kept buying more and more things haha. Now I only go if I need something
