  1. I thought i was the only one who bought meds in bulk and put them in little pouches. I asked my brother the other day whether he felt as though that was bad but he said he wouldn't care. Did you hear anything from your guests? did they care at all?
  2. wow! i'm sure your guests were raving about this for months! They looked great
  3. I'm loving your planning thread so far. I am in love with your dress Our color palettes are quite similar. I wanted to add a few more colors to mine but everyone said no and now it's too late. I actually really like how the peach looks in there. I just love that color I had also planned for my BM to choose their own dress but i wanted the colors to match . They all ended up choosing the same dress though haha.
  4. @@deecol that's exactly what we use them for too! hahah See? all about practicality
  5. Aw it does suck that things didn't go as well as planned. We also kind of wasted a trip down there and it truly sucks. We had a similar experience with tons of rain during one of our trips, and we did the same, ended up swimming in the rain haha I hope the seaweed is not as bad in August, we're running out of time for our wedding. I guess I'll have to channel my inner mermaid and become one with the seaweed, because there's no way I'd stay at the pool for 7 days. I'd go nuts! I always love the beach
  6. yeah it was nice to get away for a bit before mexico, I felt like I really needed it. Also, stress was running somewhat high between Juan and I, so it was nice to miss each other for a few days Back to wedding planning: - My parents bought me a necklace to wear on the wedding day. It's from the same seller on etsy as the rest of my jewellery. She had sent me a 10% discount after the first purchase and I completely forgot to use it this time, but she actually still refunded me the 10% since it was my second purchase, which was super nice of her! I can't wait until it arrives to post a picture of it and see how it goes together with my earrings and bracelet . I didn't want a necklace originally thinking that I'd be too decked out, but then I saw some pictures of other brides and then when I went to fitting appointment I felt like something was missing around my neck. - You guys remember I bought my bridesmaids some necklaces as well? I'm getting a little worried since according to the tracking they've been in customs since June 1st :S. I don't know what to make of that. I'm not saying it's the seller's fault. She did have a few problems with the supplier but she let me know and I agreed that I could wait a little longer, she actually shipped them promptly after the was able to sort that out. I'm more like "customs, get your s** together!". It's just 4 necklaces!
  7. I think all those are amazing choices. Out of the ones you tried I like #1 and 2 the best Be careful with JJ house. I was looking at a wedding gowns nightmare website and they were on their "avoid" list I believe, but i'm not sure if it was on the avoid list or the good list. I tried to go back and find the website to make sure but I couldn't find it. I think there's actually a thread on here where brides recommend online retailers. That might be a good place to start. For me, I just felt more comfortable trying the dresses on before buying one, but a friend got hers online and she was happy with it . We seem to be pretty similar in size so I'm sure you can find a sample gown on sale that will fit you , just like I did.
  8. I was definitely thinking of posting pictures haha! I have them in my external hard drive so you'll all have to wait until I get home haha They don't let you take pictures at the chippendales until the end where you have to pay. That was a blast though. We were pretty rowdy and in my group we had everything, from the girls that scream and try to get one of their shirts to me and my other married friend, who just looked at each other and giggled nervously . It was a good show, I can definitely appreciate the dancing haha. They asked me up to the stage (to my dismay) and they gave us tasks to do, at least I got the tamest one.
  9. One thing to ask about the excursion. If you go with the Lomas guy, and your group gets their own private mini bus, do they drop you off at the park itself? The reason I ask is because when you go through Xcaret, they pick everyone up from their respective hotels and drop them off at a central station. Then people have to change buses to take them to whichever park they're visiting (xcaret, xel-ha or xplor). It's all very well organized, but it is more time consuming than if you have your own private bus that takes you directly to the park. Both of your centerpieces look great, but personally I think I prefer the ones with the blue mat (I know you probably want to hit me right now for going against the grain hahah). I just think the centerpieces themselves just pop with the solid color and they get more lost with the pattern on the napkins. That robe is just super cute, hopefully you can find it on sale
  10. I bought mine at Blissful Bridal here in Calgary. Mine was $800 also with tons of beading and lace at the bottom, so you might be able to find something there. It was a sample gown, but still, sometimes you get lucky . I had gone to Belle & Rykiss bridal (or something like that) and while I first liked them I have to say I have changed my mind. My mom bought her dress there, she didn't have enough time to order something so she had to buy something from the floor. The lady was quite pushy and even though we mentioned a few things about the dress that either needed alterations or needed to be fixed due to the dress being tried on so many times, she assured us that she could fix them no problem and she gave us a rough quote of $100. So, my mom bought the dress. Well now she went to get a quote for alterations and all of a sudden, the changes that she said she could do, she no longer can, and they're not willing to fix the things that were kinda worn on the dress for free (such as a few stitches coming out, snags, etc). They quoted her $60 for the top of the dress and another $80 for the bottom. Both my mom and I are quite disappointed, considering the dress cost $180. Long story short, don't go there hahah, unless you find something you can order and then take it somewhere else for alterations. Definitely stick to only trying on dresses that are in your budget because more expensive dresses fit very differently and you don't want to fall in love with one that you can't afford. I also felt very silly and lost on my first appointment, I felt like I didn't know what I wanted and I wasn't getting any closer. The experience was not what I had imagined at all. Just keep at it, I'm sure the second appointment will be better
  11. I'm back!! I came back last night at around 1am. The trip was great, it was HOT!! 40 something degrees every day and the last 3 days we had the heat watch thing, which was extreme heat without any wind. My flip flops actually melted a bit from walking, that's how bad it was. I still loved it. The girls surprised me with a bachelorette party in our room and then we went to see the chippendales, everything was just so much fun . Before we left for Vegas I asked them whether I should get some bachelorette stuff like beads and things like that and they were like "I guess, if you want to" but they didn't sound too convinced about the idea. As it turns out they had bought everything already and were going to surprise me hahaha. This was sort of my trial before Mexico in terms of the heat, sunburn, etc. The good thing is that Mexico doesn't get that hot, it's usually around 30-35 degrees and even considering the humidity, the breeze by the ocean makes it more bearable. This was all heat + concrete= just terrible. I didn't get sunburnt!! This is such an achievement for me because I always do, but I made sure to wear my hat pretty much everywhere and reapply sunscreen every 2 hours or every time I came out of the water or if I was sweating a lot. Talking about sweating, I will die in my dress, but that's ok . @@snswedding2016 I did get a reply from Ivis while I was in Vegas. Well, it turns out half the stuff on my sheet is still wrong, despite me writing all the changes down in point form on my email. I honestly couldn't make it any clearer. I'll have to e-mail her again tomorrow. Today I was just grasping the fact that vacation is over . At least it's just 2 months to go for the next one!
  12. very pretty dresses. I like the one shouldered one and the one with the twisted back. I'm guessing the possibilities are endless haha. I agree that a slight color variation is not a big deal. Take it from someone whose color is also hard to find, you will drive yourself insane if you want everything to match perfectly. I think it actually ads a bit of diversity to the wedding and it looks very nice, rather than having everything in the exact same shade . As long as all the bridesmaids match with each other and all the groomsmen match each other I think it would look good. Just pick the shade that is the closest, or the ones that look more harmonious with each other and you should be good . This is exactly the same reason why our bridesmaids are wearing periwinkle and the guy's ties are pink, because we couldn't find periwinkle ties (plus it looked better with the blue of the pants and the suit). Of course now I can find periwinkle everywhere, after I ordered everything, but that's life I guess haha.
  13. I really like #1 and #2 but if I have to pick one i'd go for #1 . I love the flowy look of it I'm glad that you've narrowed it down to a couple of resorts. I find that no matter what resort we end up choosing something always has to give, either the location, or the venues, the prices, etc. There's no such thing as the 100% perfect resort . I'm sure either choice would be a great one though. I agree with you that if you can get the styling trio to come to your resort that would make it so much easier for you guys on the day of. At least for me, I know I'll be stressed out and anxious that day so adding more travel time would make me want to pull my hair out and I would end up not enjoying the moment. I guess that it is very different when you have a smaller ceremony, everything is a lot more laid back. I don't know how some people have 300 people weddings haha, I'd be so stressed!
  14. that's a good idea. I usually have a mental list but it doesn't work nearly as well haha
  15. I know. One of the girls sent us a screenshot of the weather over there and all I thought was "dear god. We're going to die" haha but I honestly love the heat so I'm really excited! Packing today. It made me realize that I might want to start packing for Mexico like 2 weeks before haha. There's just so many things to think of and do at the last minute. And if I forget anything this time it's kind of like whatever. But I would hate to forget something important when going to Mexico! [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I know! still so much to do. I'm so stoked. The stress is definitely running high these days with all the last min stuff to finish up. I've fallen off the wagon with my diet and I hope the dress still fits when I try it on after the Vegas trip :S. I'm kind of nervous about that.
  17. so gorgeous. These were the ones I wanted originally but i just couldn't find them at a price that wouldn't bring us over our center piece budget. Anyway, with 2 months to go I already have my lanterns but I just wanted to stop by and say that they are beautiful
  18. I saw your post last night but was so tired that couldn't answer haha. I'm so excited!! I was just thinking the other day that it feels so unreal when your turn comes up, you're so used to feeling excited for other brides that it's almost strange to know that it's your turn! Best of luck this week, enjoy to the max! I can't wait to see pictures and hear how things went
  19. I'm not using them much either but they have restrictions on everything and if their prices were somewhat close to real life it wouldn't bother me, but they're so overinflated. At first I thought the same "I'll bring most of my decor, etc" but then just even asking how much little extras were was ridiculous. Anyway, in the end I'm not getting much from them because I refuse to pay them but it's still frustrating. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Hahaha OMG. It actually took me a few reads to realize hahaha. I guess that tells you how much "reading" our brains actually do [emoji13]. Too funny Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. makes total sense. I probably would have gone with someone else as well in your situation . I'm glad you found a TA that is responsive and on top of things as well
  22. This is what we're doing: Entrance First dance Dinner father/daughter dance, mother/son dance party starts cake cutting party continues bouquet toss party continues maybe garter toss (depends how tipsy we are at the time haha) party continues. I don't think there are any rules and you can do whatever you want but in my opinion it's better to have the party continue rather than breaking it up with dinner in between. The reason for that is that it takes a bit of warming up for the party to get started and every time you go back to eat then you have to get the party started again afterwards. I think it would take away from both, your party and also the dinner because people will be eating anxiously so they can get back to partying, without truly enjoying the food. That's just my opinion but of course doesn't mean that I'm right. You should do what makes you and your fiance happy I forgot to add when we'd be doing toasts. Sometime after the main course starts and dessert . that way everyone's belly is full but no one is yet so anxious to get dancing that they don't listen to what people have to say
  23. That's awesome! Also, in case the prices for the wedding stuff increase from now until your wedding date, you get the prices that were there when you booked I know someone posted a few pages back that you can book without going through Lomas. If you can, I strongly suggest that you do, Lomas is the biggest rip off in history and the source of 95% of my frustrations with this resort.
  24. Yeah, i didn't know about the whole thing that if people didn't cancel we were stuck with their bill. Luckily my TA told us about it in time. I just contacted people and explained that if they weren't coming that was ok and we understood but we needed them to cancel ASAP because otherwise we had to pay for their trip and we didn't have that kind of money. Most people understood and it was fairly easy. Heck, if I didn't know about this clause, how would they, right? They probably assumed that if they didn't pay, their trips would be cancelled automatically. They were very nice about it and called or emailed my TA right away. Only the guy who left his brother alone in a room (and then causing this whole snowball of drama) didn't call to cancel, he just told us that he wasn't coming. At that point I just told my TA to cancel it because these guys were costing us enough money as it was and she just canceled it. I haven't heard any complaints from the guy, and I hope that he never dares. I'm fairly nice, but even my patience has a limit haha. You know, the whole wedding planning was pretty stress and drama free so I can't really complain. It's just that when it comes down to the money and who's going to pay what, people all of a sudden change. Not just during weddings, I've seen the same after someone dies. When it comes to money, people just go nuts and they become the worst version of themselves. It happens to all of us. And I think we all have that one guest "colgado de la palmera" or "hanging from the palm tree" hahah aka. totally oblivious to everything an how their actions affect other people and the decisions that need to be made. Hopefully your drama will be light. At the end of the day, and as pissed off as I was, the drama that I've had is really nothing compared to what other ladies have had to deal with . I'm so pumped for this photo booth! I think the props are going to look awesome . I bought the signs from this store: https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/FunnyFaceProps I haven't checked my mail box this week, but maybe the ebay props have arrived!? Yeah! any money back was just great news and it actually helped us out a lot. That's is strange, I had heard from another bride a while back who had the same thing happen to het when she contacted LaurieLee, she never got back to her. Then another bride and I told her that it was strange because she's always so quick to answer! So she gave her a call and it turns out that her email had either gone to LaurieLee's spam folder for some reason, or something along those lines. I think she ended up getting pretty good quotes from her. She's been great, she honestly took care of as many things as she could on her own, and only contacted me when she was confused about room changes or when people wanted to cancel leaving others with single occupancy, things like that. She asked and got us as many upgrades for our group as she could. She also managed to negotiate a few deals with Karisma for us. I honestly have no complaints!
