  1. Exactly!! Sometimes I wonder how some girls can actually tell even what season the dress is from, to me they all look kind of the same haha, as long as it fits, i'm good . I loved it because it is super light, the top part is really the heaviest due to the beading, but I can feel the breeze in the bottom . It really is different than all the other dresses I had seen and it was a nice compromise between a DW dress and a more formal wedding gown. The design I have is called sincerity 3758 but if I had seen their website before finding this one I would have probably tried a lot more of their dresses on . I just realized something, the train on the model does not look nearly as long as mine. It probably has to do with the fact that they had to cut 1/4 of the dress to hem it hahah. I still love it though, especially because when it's bustled it's very seamless.
  2. the brand is called sincerity. I don't think it's a well known designer but I didn't care either way, I was looking for a dress that looked nice and that fit my budget . That brand has a lot of very beautiful dresses
  3. I think your bridesmaids will be happy with whatever! I spent $160 on their dresses and bought some necklaces for them for $20. I only have two bridesmaids though so that's what allowed me to spend a little more on them
  4. I remember way back in the day when I was in kindergarten we used X-ray film to make stencils but now since it's all digital, I'm guessing that stuff is hard to find, but maybe something that has a similar consistency will work [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. makes sense then. I think 10lbs is a size change, so you might be surprised how much of a difference it makes. It's always easier to take in a dress than take it out though, so you'll be ok . I had a bit of a surprise the other day with my hem hahah. The first time i went to get alterations the dress was a bit tight around the hips and I guess it was lifting it up, because when i went on friday the hem was about an inch too long so they had to alter it yet again. I'm picking it up today and it should be good to go . The lady there told me that sometimes it happens that when you do alterations everywhere else the hem is a bit different. At least it turned out that it was too long and not too short haha!
  6. Just my two cents, but I'd wait to about 3 months before the wedding before doing alterations, especially if you're planning on losing weight. I bought mine on sale as well, a sample gown. They cleaned it and gave it to me to bring back 3 months before the wedding for alterations. I'm so glad I did that. The dress didn't close when I bought it and I thought i'd have to put a corset back on it. I wasn't planning and I didn't think I could lose any weight, I had already accepted the fact. However, by the time the 3 month mark rolled around I was able to zip it all the way up , and it only had to be taken out a little around the hips. That definitely saved me a few bucks in alterations . I guess if the store is willing to do any further alterations for free, then you could just do it now and later if needed, otherwise I would wait longer. I know it sucks because I've been wanting to see the final product for almost a year, but at the same time I think it's just easier to do everything that needs to be done all at once and knowing for sure that nothing else will change. Edit: I read your date again, for some reason I thought it was further away. I guess that it's not so bad having it altered now, then hopefully you have to take it in a little bit more in a couple of months
  7. Yay!! I'm happy that you found the dress. You got an amazing deal on it! I can't wait to see it on my computer, it comes out as all pixelated on my phone haha but I can see the shape of it and it looks gorgeous Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. we are going with video and I'm so happy that we are . It is so nice to look at old videos. In my opinion they offer a little more than a picture does. We didn't spend too much on it, but I thought it was important and I think we will be glad to have it afterwards
  9. @@MissJen3 I'm so sorry for the late reply! I honestly haven't been on the computer the whole weekend, it was way too nice outside haha. I'm wondering if it has to do with the kind of pen you used. Initially I used the sharpie ones which have a tip that is quite thin and thus took a lot of work to do each bag. When one run out I found this other one with a thicker tip, which I thought would work better. However, I soon found out I needed to be super careful with it, the paint was bleeding all over the place, even under the stencil. I ruined one or two bags with it. I attached a picture of the two, the sharpie one was great and it was easy to use, some bleeding but not a lot. For the thicker one, I had to make sure to go through it with a dabbing or tapping motion. Also make sure to re-dampen the tip on a separate piece of paper, as a lot of paint usually comes through those and it bleeds all over again. The other 2 things I can think of from my experiments is that either your stencil is not sticking properly, or that there's a lot of really fine details on it. If you're using cardstock for the stencil I'd try to get a hold of spray glue, so you spray it on one side and then all of it sticks really well. I think that will do the trick, even if the details are really small. Let me know if any of that helps!
  10. How much if you don't mind me being nosy?? [emoji4] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I really don't want to sound mean, and please know that this is coming from the best place, but I feel like I have to be honest. If she deleted you on facebook she probably considers that you guys don't really talk that much. Unfortunately friendships change and even if you've known someone for years, that doesn't necessarily mean that you're close friends or that you should be invited to their wedding. I wouldn't take it as anything personal. When it comes to weddings the bride and groom have to make choices as to who to invite and unfortunately some people are left out, usually due to costs. If you haven't talked to her in months or close to a year I don't think she's in the wrong here. I'm sorry, I know it is disappointing. You can always ask her why, as of course I'm only guessing about her reasons, but just be prepared if you get that answer.
  12. I scoped the place for you yesterday haha. There were a few really beautiful dresses on sale [emoji4]. Some were a little above the $500 budget, at around $800. I saw one that was $400 /$500 that was just beautiful. It was a bit more ball gown than mine but not too puffy. It had some bling on it and it looked gorgeous on the hanger. It was a size 8 or 10, can't quite remember. Of course always the most beautiful ones were around $1500 and not on sale lol. They also had quite a few of the chiffon gowns with some bling on them and the prices were good! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. @@calgarybride2015 It is such a relief!! I can't wait to see it all together now @@Wafflesmom thanks. Mr. Charles made for a lot of great memories hahah. @@snswedding2016 I think the train is my favorite part of the dress . I always wanted a train since I was a kid haha so I guess I got what I wanted!
  14. you looked so beautiful!! I was waiting to go on my computer to reply . I think the veil added a super nice touch. Your tan looks so good, it made your dress look even more stunning . By the way, great job on the weight loss, I remembered you as in the last picture you posted and you've lost so much weight since then! Congratulations!!
  15. exactly, and I still tell him that even if he messes up, I'm able to follow him anyway and the only people who will know that there was a mistake is just us two. But also, he's feeling enough pressure from life and I don't want this to add on to that. It would be super cool if we could do it but it's not the end of the world. Dress Fitting: Success!! Dress fitting went great! The dress still fits, luckily! It closes, and they let it out a bit, which is pretty much seamless, well it is seamless hahah. That means I can actually breathe now . Here are a few pictures, forget my silly faces, my mom's photography philosohpy is literally point and shoot ahaha. The only thing left is the hem. It was a tiny bit too long today and I was kind of stepping on it, so they're cutting another inch or so off . I guess it's always better for it to be too long than too short (which was what most of my nightmares these last few days were about). I'm picking it up on monday and it should be ready to go!
  16. We named him mr. Charles lol. Best thing ever haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Exactly. He started to get angry and saying that he wasn't going to look like a fool. In the end I just told him that we'll try our best but if it doesn't happen I also don't want us to look ridiculous up there. Either way it will be a special moment. I'm just hoping it all comes into place and he feels less pressure this way Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I think in the end you have to do what's important for you. If the date is significant for you then you should get married on that date. You could always have an elopement and then have an at home reception if no one else can make it to Mexico . No one can call you selfish for doing that. I understand how sometimes parents can be upset because they won't be there to see you get married, but if they gave you an ultimatum I guess you can do the same. Either whoever can come comes and sees you get married or you'll elope. I think in this case your ultimatum has more weight because it's your wedding . I agree with @@calgarybride2015, the people who gave us so much grief didn't come in the end so it wasn't even worth worrying about them.
  19. As promised, some of the Vegas pictures. The nice and the naughty hahah. Today is dress fitting day. I'm very nervous and excited about it. Let's hope there are no surprises . Work today will go at snail pace Other than that, I've been feeling super exhausted this week so I haven't done much else. We're both getting really stressed about our first dance. With me being away and Juan working the night shift lately we haven't practiced for almost 2 weeks. I really wish we had started this earlier. Juan is getting super worked out about it so he's having trouble memorizing the steps. At this point, we might even scratch it last minute. We'll give it our best shot, but if it doesn't happen we'll just switch to a slow song last minute. I'd be disappointed but at the same time Juan does not work well under pressure and the more pressure he has to get this right the more trouble he has remembering the choreography. In the end it's turning out to be a nightmare, we pretty much fight every time we practice and my advice to him to just relax and let it be doesn't work.
  20. Ohhh, so beautiful!! You'll look gorgeous in that dress! I love the corset back on it , just beautiful
  21. I love your invites! they look great and I think you did a great job with the STD's OMG! Your wedding date is coming up so quickly too! I'm having such a lazy week, not much planning going on. Sometimes life does get in the way and the wedding takes second place, that's ok though. As I get closer and closer I started to think that as long as the big things are done and planned for, everything else will come together so I'm not going to obsess over them.
  22. Yeah! It's the one right next to cactus club. I don't know of open sesame is there too. I'm usually a size 2 but my dress is a size 4. Technically I probably should have had a size 6 and have it taken in in certain parts but it was the last one left. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. I'll still recommend the place I went to. They have so many beautiful dresses and I felt their prices were in the lower end of the places I checked out. It probably won't beat David's, but you might have different options . It's actually pretty much across the street to David's and they take drop ins (I was a drop in when I found my dress). The lady there was super helpful, she was the one who actually found my dress! I totally felt like a bride in there. I got my alterations done at the same store and I'm picking the dress up tomorrow!! *Insert terrified face here* It's been stressing me out so much! I've been having nightmares for the last two nights. I'm exhausted hahaha. I'm paying $300 for the hem, a bustle, taking it out at the hips and the corset.
