  1. Who is your wc? I finished the planning steps back in May or June and my wc pretty much stopped contact with me at that point, through the summer... so hopefully yours will be a little more on the ball. Where are you on their planning steps?
  2. Thank you! Looking at the spreadsheet she sent me with A TON more info on it from before it has Palmeras beach for the reception but just beach listed for the ceremony box. I emailed Victoria asking her our options.... Thinking about it, they spread out the ceremonies throughout the day, so no 2 weddings are at the same time, so we should be able to get one of their more private locations. I saw some videos of the beach and Palmeras looks like the hub of the entire beachfront, complete with volleyball net. lol That's fine for our reception, but I'd be surprised if they did any ceremony there considering how many guests they would disrupt with a wedding, and how many other less busy areas of their beach they have.
  3. Hi Ladies, I haven't been on here in a while... Not used to this new format... Took me forever just to find this forum again... Anyhoo, my wedding is next month, FINALLY!!! I finished the planning steps with my wedding coordinator Victoria months ago. Contact kind of stopped at that point, but I started wondering about our ceremony and reception locations. We have the Strawberry and both will be on the beach. I remember many posts from brides saying that their coordinator sent them pictures of the different locations, so I sent her an email. She replied saying both our ceremony and reception will be on Palmeras beach. I guess I don't even get options to look at or choose from? I do understand in a way... There are 5 or 6 weddings on February 14th, including mine. I'm sure every location will have a reception going on that night and its probably why it was never brought up to me or any pictures given to choose from. I'm just wondering if anyone knows about Palmeras? I've seen reception pics from other brides, but I'm wondering how private it is during the ceremony? P.S. Is anyone else on here a Valentines bride like me? I know there are 4 or 5 of you out there somewhere!! lol

Yes, you can book them a room at any of the 5 hotels at the Barcelo resort, like FireyNurse said. BUT....Barcelo has recently and unfortunately instituted a 5 night minimum stay during their peak seasons. Not sure when your wedding is, but it will not be a cheaper alternative to paying their vendor fee of $500 when you have to book 5 nights. My wedding is in February and even my guests wanting to book 3 or 4 nights were turned away initially... Thank goodness my travel agent talked them into allowing 3-4 night stays for my guests still, since I've had rooms held for us since March, way before they decided on this new rule. I was very disappointed by this, and it didn't make our guests trying to book the last few months very comfortable about the trip at all. Almost made me reconsider this resort...
  5. Hey ladies, Have any of you heard about or encountered Barcelo's new rule that requires a 5 night minimum stay during peak season? My wedding is in February, which is peak season and our group booking through my travel agent just hit the 4 month mark and we had to drop the extra rooms that hadn't been booked. The guests who booked at the last minute or who are now trying to book have encountered this problem. My travel agent says Barcelo is getting a lot of grief and backlash for this decision, so hopefully they will change this. Just wondering if anyone else has heard about this?
  6. I've read on this thread (toward the beginning) that the turf and turf dinner option costs extra. Does anyone know if it costs extra for the Strawberry package or is it one of the dinner options included in that package? Also wondering if anyone knows how much an extra reception hour costs? Thanks!
  7. jburress21: I got engaged at Beaches in the Turks! lol He proposed to me on the lazy river in the water park. Great resort.

  9. Thanks so much for spending the time to add so many pictures and details!! You did such a beautiful job on everything! Including your timeline, the playlists, and the tipping info really helped! I think we'll be booking the mariachi like you did. Great thread.. !!
  10. I sent my STD's about 3 weeks ago, so about a year in advance. (They included a magnet, a short letter explaining our DW, and a stamped postcard. The postcard was for people to request what event they would like a formal invitation for: our wedding in Mexico, our Denver at home reception, or both. I stressed that it was not an RSVP at all, just a way to help us plan our events. We sent out about 75, and to date we've only received 11. Not too good of a response so far.) I'll send out our Mexico invitation 6-7 months before and ask for an RSVP by 4 months before. Our Denver AHR will be in March or April 2014, so I'll send that invite in January/February.
  11. I am wondering too if anyone knows of a good place to find linen men's attire for a beach wedding?
  12. Thanks for the posts ladies! I have been struggling with the same topic. This thread has really helped.
  13. I am using a travel agent to book our guest's trip. Through him I have learned that Barcelo will not confirm your wedding date without booking info first... They "held" our tentative date, but would not confirm it or allow us to put in the deposit to confirm the wedding without getting booking info first.... So, just a FYI, you'll have to book your trip/rooms first before you'll get your wedding date confirmed. We booked and put in a deposit for 20 rooms total for our group... And then it took another 2 weeks for the WC to get back to us about the wedding deposit and confirmation.
  14. HI ladies! My future mother in-law found me another great vistaprint groupon that I wanted to pass along. There is still 4 more days till it expires! Here's the link: VPGroupon
  15. Hi, Not sure if you bought those 3mm yet or not but they will most likely bee too big and uncomfortable around the toe. Not meaning to worry you if you bought these already. Not trying to be a know it all either, but I've been beading for over 20 years... The best beads to go around the toe so that they are somewhat comfortable to walk on are seed beads. Seed beads are the little tiny ones and they come in various sizes from a teeny tiny size 1 to a large size of 24. The best and average size for a project like this I would say is an 11 or 12. Seed beads aren't sized by mm, but an 11 or 12 is probably the equivalent of 1mm...
