  1. Hey Jengullage, Let me know if you still can't open the scavenger hunt and we can figure out something different. Yes, I hope to buy some prizes there so they will be Mexican themed. We are printing it out and putting it on Card stock so its firm and easy to carry and not get all wrecked. Also adding pencils. We are making them this weekend so I will take a picture and post so you can see what we did. My sister is into making cards and scrap booking so she has been wonderful with the ideas. We are also making name tags for the table for seating and also a Just Married/Thank you banner in my colors of Pink, Blue, Orange & Yellow. I will post pics of these once its all done. So I am exactly 5 weeks today for our wedding, and 30 sleeps until we leave for Mexico. Getting super excited and after this weekend the only thing I have left on my list is the dance music playlist to put together. Oh and so far I am loving that Wedding DJ app. it's perfect. I am a little nervous though as I have sent 2 emails to my wedding coordinator and no response, its been over 3 Weeks.. So I'm freakin out a little as I have so many questions. If I don't hear from her by Monday I will get my Travel Agent involved. Shoes... my bridesmaids found some cute sandals they liked and I found some beautiful ones from Tommy Bahamas that have lots of sparkle and a wedge heel so not too high but still a bit. I never wear high heels so would be so uncomfortable if I did for my wedding. I love my shoes, so cute and super comfy and I will wear again and again. LOL The men are wearing brown Sanuk flip flops. again super comfy. Shayla - your pictures are stunning, congratulation. We are doing a beach trash the dress, no underwater pics. I'm a little sad but I just could not afford it. But I think we will get some amazing pictures in the ocean on the beach. LOL Happy Planning everyone, Karen
  2. GP is in the middle it is approx 32km to Tulum and 32 km to Playa Del Carmen..
  3. Hi Again, sorry for the dual post back there. I honestly didn't think the first one posted. LOL @ Jen, I totally understand your dilemma for the shower, but I agree with Lauren, if your friends have expressed that they would like to be invited to the shower than absolutely invite them. Most people realize that you can't invite absolutely everyone to a destination wedding but have some fun with the shower. Express that gifts aren't manditory or something small is preferred especially from your college friends. Student are typically pretty broke. LOL Lauren.. I feel that your OOT bags are plenty and also expensive things add up so fast. I love the donation to a charity instead of favors idea. We have asked for no gifts period from anyone but if they really want they are asked to make a donation to a Animal Rescue group I volunteer with. I am doing favors but Im also not doing OOT bags.. for me it was a choice, one or the other. Lauren - about our scanvenger hunt. I am going to try and attach my list for you. This is the final copy. We actually stayed away from a lot of romantic stuff and have fun stuff. Maybe you will find somethings you like. We are having it as items and pictures. Some of my tie breakers will be if they have items over pictures. Items will give them extra points. Scavenger Hunt single.docx
  4. Hello Ladies, Well it's been a while since I last posted but I have been reading everything. first THANKS Claire, I too bought the Wedding DJ App after reading your post and love it. I have not had any glitches yet and it was so easy to set up. If anyone is planning on doing their own music definately check it out. My planning is humming along, slowly getting through my To Do List. I have finished my Kids Activity packages for during the reception. Still have to do the Name Tags for seating at the dinner. I wanted to let everyone know some of the fun stuff we have planned for our guests. We have 45 of us and I am going to be handing out a Scavenger Hunt to every family and then they can submit it during our Pub Crawl.. Yup you read that right.. instead of a Rehersal dinner we are going to do a pub crawl. this resort is so big we will take the train to the end opposite of Whitesands and stop for 1 drink in as many of the bars that we can get to, working our way back. A great way to see the whole resort and have a lot of fun. Im also thinking of bringing plain white Tshirts for me & fiance' and we can get autographs from the people we meet on the way. I have my final dress fitting on the 23rd, so excited. Im going to bring my veil and some different jewelry options to try on with the dress so we can make a decision on what I want to wear. Im really undecided on the veil. I love pictures with the veil and wind but dont' like the thought of a veil blowing in my face during the ceremony. LOL Well that is it for now, Happy Planning, Karen
  5. Hello Ladies, Claire - thanks for that APP name, I bought it and have started to set up my wedding ceremony on it. It is amazing.. if you are doing your own music well worth the money. It was only $1.99 CND for me.. so a deal. Very easy to set up. Starting to get my list of stuff done slowly, my dress fitting went really well and we hopefully will have final fitting and pick up on Feb 23rd. I plan on bringing a veil and some different jewelry with me so we can make some decisions on whether to wear on not to wear a veil and then jewelry. We have decided on our Meal #14 - chicken. Being from Canada and Alberta where our beef is second to none we find that we don't care for Mexican beef as much. so opted for chicken & shrimp. I still have to pick my Gluten Free meal for myself and my Aunt. It is getting so close and so excited.. oooh we also finally went and ordered my Fiance's ring, that was so exciting in itself. Made it way more real for him. Is anyone else planning on doing a little pre tanning before you go. I just started, decided because we are there 4 fulll days before our wedding if I had a little color it will help me not burn.. don't want red lobsters for our pictures. ha ha!!! I also have bought some strapless bathing suit tops so I won't have tan lines. My dress is strapless so it would really show. Something else we are planning for our week there is having a scavenger hunt and then instead of a rehersal dinner we are doing a pub crawl.. We will take the train to the last stop from Whitesands and work our way back stopping at as many bars that we can for 1 drink at each. Will be a lot of fun... I might even bring white Tshirts for myself and Fiance' to wear and get autographs from people we meet. Hope everyone's planning is going great Cheers, Karen
  6. I think the GF is 1/2 way between the two.. 32km from Playa Del Carmen and 32 from Talum. Sorry it's metric.. I have not idea what that would be in Miles.
  7. Hi Becci and everyone, Im new here too, even though I have been reading this thread for months have not posted anything. My wedding is on april 5th 2013 but had booked back in May of last year. Once you have confirmation of a date, the Wedding Corrdinator will contact you and then send you menu options and pictures of flower options. You have lots of time to make those kind of decisions. The menu option is pretty large so you should be able to find something to fit your picky family. I have people, my self included that have to have a special diet and they are going to prepare our meals separate so they are super accomodating. My WC is Rocio and she has been fabulous, gets back to me quite quckly and answers all of my questions. I live in Canada so the booking is different than in the UK. Im getting super excited and go for my first dress fitting on the Saturday, have not tried on the dress since I brought it home.. yikes.. pretty nervous. We are getting married at 4:00pm so will let everyone just do what they want between the ceremony and dinner at 7:00pm. We will have pictures taken during this time. Because I have 45 people we had to have a private reception which I wanted anyway, So excited about that. One of the things that I am doing differently is that I found that extra $20 per person, pretty hight when you have to add dinner on top and for what I got, I didn't feel it justified the price. So the sparkling wine, honestly I know my family and only maybe 5 will actually drink it so we will just have the few bottles we get with the wedding at the reception. the cake, really it's just the kids that want it and for picture purposes we will just go with again what is offered for 8. We get dessert with dinner and I can not eat the cake anyway.. not even a little for pictures. And then the chair covers/bows. I did want these but to rent them from the resort it was going to cost $4.00 per chair and that was just for ceremony and I would have to rent them for the reception as well. The $ added up huge.. so I asked if I could bring my own and I have found someone here that will rent me Chair covers and bows at $1.25 each and let me take them to Mexico. One suitecase and a Bridesmaid willing to take them for me and Im all set. The resort will set them up for me. So excited. Im not going to have any other decorations but have 2 favors and an activity package for the kids. We have 8 children coming from 1 - 13 yrs My neice is our photographer as she wants to get into the business so we are her first clients.. so excited to have her do our pictures. Things Im struggling with are music for walking down the isle and to decide what kind of guest book to have. I just decided this week that we are going to do a sand ceremony as I found this beautiful picture frame so you have the sand on the bottom and then you put your picture and other objects in after. It's all sealed.. found this at www.foreverframe.com OK< now i see how easy it is to have a long post.. ha ha!!! I better stop now. To all the other brides, enjoy your time planning and your special day. Karen
