Thanks for the reassurance. I was beginning to dread wedding planning because I wasn't finding what I envision and getting the most BANG for our BUCK. Wickys seems like the best alternative to having the reception at the resort. I have their current pricing it they are reasonable.

Wickys sound like a great alternative. I think I will reach out to them. I read somewhere it was only 4 blocks away. Did people complain about walking? I woukd hav e to find transportation for our grandparents.

Good advice in regards to not using flowers. I'm thinking of doing parasols and centerpieces without flowers.

I have a question about the standard rooms at the Gran Caribe. On the internet the pics show a tube TV. It gives the impression of outdated rooms. Are the pics old?

We've found another resort (Gran Caribe/Royal Cancun) we like. I'm on the fence because the price for 20 ppl seems reasonable as well as the surcharge for additional people. The only thing is I can't seem to get my hands on a menu and a price list for extras. I've emailed the resort and asked for assistance on here. No luck. Someone mentioned for me to add all the extras online to see the cost but the "extras" available to add online were very limited. Traci, which resort did you decide on?

Congrats ladies! At the rate I'm going I will be a 2015 bride too! We can't decide on a resort. Once we narrow down a few choices...the dates are booked. It's so hard to decide. What are your top choices? I saw someone said Gran Caribe.

I have one better! We were invited to a reception at a local restaurant. The couple was married earlier in the week at the courthouse. Anyway, there was a preset menu with alcohol and lavish deserts. At the end of the reception FI and I said our goodbyes and were headed to the door. The waitress stopped us and asked us to pay for our bill. I was SHOCKED! I told her that I'm sure the bill was taken care of since we were in a banquet room and this was a wedding reception. She said no...its individual checks. WHAT?!? We had a preset menu and all! I looked over at the bride and all she did was shrug her shoulders. FI payed the bill and we left. But not before I went over to the gift table to retrieve my gift that I brought! UNBELIEVABLE!
