  1. The Riu resorts have a package called "Caprice" for $2500 or $2600 and it includes 40 people. So far its the only one I've seen that includes a semi private event for that many people. We are also considering using Wicky's, a restaurant 3-4 blocks from Royal PDC/Gran Porto in Playa del Carmen. Meals start at $45/each and the place is gorgeous. Hope this information helps.
  2. Thanks for the clarification! I have to look into them sectioning off for a "welcome dinner".
  3. Hi ladies! Questions about the semi private dinner included in the wedding package: (1) Is the per person fee ($50) for a private reception in one of the restaurants (The steakhouse for example) an additional fee for the ENTIRE group or only the amount of people over the number of guest included in the package? (Caprice includes 40 ppl) (2) If this $50 fee is an additional fee for EVERYONE since its private, can I use the semi private dinner included in the package for a "welcome dinner" or "farewell brunch"? If we can't use the semi private aspect of the package, it seems as though we are wasting money. (3) If we decide on the Royal package (includes 20 people) will we have to pay an additional fee to set up chairs for the extra 20 people? If we have to pay additional fees, I'm trying to see if its cheaper to go with the Royal package instead. I'm only interested in the Caprice because it includes more people. Am I making sense?!? Please advise! Thanks
  4. We invited immediate family (parents and siblings), aunts and uncles (only parents siblings) and first cousins. Only 3 of my first cousins have children (second cousins) for a total 4. We have limited ourselves to 5 friends each...spouse included. Everyone else was cut off. We just tell people it's an intimate affair.
  5. I've been noticing lately that many are asking what guest are paying for a 3, 5 or 7 night stay at various resorts. I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread where brides could share the information along with their resort and wedding date. I would give new brides an idea about high and low seasons about travel from various locations. My wedding isn't until 2015 so I don't have rates set in stone. However I do have rates for the same dates in 2014. So...here goes May 10, 2014/Riu Palace RM/3 nights for 448/pp (no flights)
  6. Sticky...sticky! My cousin is a TA and automatically assumed he would handle our group booking. I had to tell him politely and in a private setting that I did not want to mix business and family. It caused static between us for a few weeks but he got over it. What about discussing your concerns with her?

  8. Thanks foe coming back to give us an update! Are the Dreams resorts the only ones that offer a bonfire?

  10. Do you have a wedding website? I would put it there as an FYI and/or use your wedding party to help spread the word by mouth. Not on the actual invitation though.
