  1. That sounds like a good plan! I definitely agree with getting everything out of the way so we can enjoy ourselves and hang out with everyone!
  2. Wow Megan, totally blown away with all your projects and the time/ effort you've spent to make everything perfect. You can really tell that so much thought was put into every little detail. Your guests are really going to appreciate the out of town bags too! These next few weeks are going to fly by - sooo exciting!!!
  3. Jenny, you are going to have the most amazing time! I can't wait to hear all the details when you return. Safe travels and an early congratulations to you both
  4. I'm starting to think about this also... Our reception is 6-10, 4 hours long as well!

  7. So sorry to hear that about your mom. Sometimes you'll do just about anything for the people you love, I know I would You're right about putting the date aside and just celebrating in Mexico with family friends, that definitely is the important part! Thanks to you both girls now I have some decisions to make!
  8. Ah, ok.. I figured that was the case - paying $500 for each. That is crazy, although I am up in the air about doing the same thing. My FI and I strongly dislike the legal script, and we want something more in align with our religious beliefs. He keeps suggesting that we just do the symbolic ceremony and then get married at the court house when we return home. My issue is that the significance is just not the same to me! I want to get legally married the same day as our ceremony. Decisions, decisions... Where exactly are you getting married by the judge at? I know you mentioned that it will be in private. Do you mind me asking if you're doing this on the beach, or are you doing it like in your room? Lol I'm curious about this.
  9. Megan, did they charge you extra to do the legal ceremony in private the morning of your wedding day and then a symbolic ceremony later on in the day? I'm curious how that all works... I'm not a fan of the legal script either. This concept may be something I need to look into.
  10. I literally just asked my WC yesterday to add a rehearsal to my detail sheet, which she did... But, she did mention that it is not guaranteed. If anything I'll just have my own little rehearsal with my FI and parents if they can't accommodate.
  11. These look great Meg! These are probably the most fun programs I've ever seen... Very clever!
  12. Hi! I actually had the same question, and if you search back through the thread Murmel had some additional helpful information such as dimensions of the plaza, etc. I decided to go with 30 paper lanterns in various sizes and colors, as I want more of a dimensional look. I'm thinking anywhere between 12"-18" for the lanterns. My WC mentioned that any size less than 10" would probably look too small.
  13. I'm up in the air about making my own playlist of songs on my iPod too so that's very relieving that they did such an amazing job. Also good to know they have a list to choose from.. My WC Lynda hasn't sent me anything so I guess i'll ask her too. Thanks ladies!
  14. Is anyone or has anyone used the music setup that Azul provides for the ceremony? In my package "Music equipment - Romantic songs and wedding march" is included. Any additional information on this such as what songs are played, etc.?
  15. Totally agree with Megan... This looked like SO much fun, congrats! I like the video camera attached to the bottles of tequila that is absolutely hilarious... I also love the lumineers that is the perfect song. Glad to see you had such a great time!!! Thanks for sharing
  16. Hi Tara! I also sent save the dates out a full year in advance. Our wedding is February 2014. I plan to send the formal invitations out in August and have an RSVP date of October. The rooms/ rates we reserved are valid until October 27th, and I will mention that in the invites as well as have more detailed information about the resort and a schedule of events. Just an FYI for future brides... From my experience so far, and I'm not sure if anyone else ran into the same issue... But, it seems to me that some guests are a little confused about when to actually book their room. I get comments sometimes from people saying that they are waiting for me to send the invitations out so they can book their rooms, which they should not have to wait until the invitations in order to book. On the back of our save the dates we have a note saying 'We have reserved rooms at special rates, please contact...' followed by my travel agents contact information. I did not have detailed information about the resort such as pricing, etc. and I think this caused confusion for some people for whatever reason! I think I'm going to take MMK's advice and send out a short email or facebook message as a formality before sending out the invitations, just to let everyone know a bit more detail such as pricing, hotel information, the rates deadline, etc.
  17. Our photographer is a close friend of ours and will be attending the wedding anyways. She is staying at the hotel for 3 nights, and they did not have a problem with that. I'm pretty sure if you do not use one of the resorts "approved" photographers, then you will pay an outside vendor fee.
  18. A friend of ours walked down the aisle to "Marry Me" by Train and I absolutely loved it. I'm pretty sure all 300 guests were in tears!! I'm thinking about using it to walk down the aisle as well, because its just so "us". We'll see... Everyone has such great ideas on here though
  19. I was wondering the same thing - good to know. I was also wondering if you bought the LED lights for each lantern, or just a few lanterns? The LED lights add up to be pretty expensive if you have 30 lanterns... At least the LED lights I found were like $4 each.
  20. Thanks for the info! I was hoping the different sized lanterns and different lengths of the wires to hang the lanterns would add a lot of dimension to the plaza area... Good to know it actually turns out nice too!!
  21. Just curious what sizes you purchased? I wanted varying sizes as well and I'm looking into the 10", 12" and 16" ones in white, coral and turquoise colors.
  22. Murmel - Thanks, I think Cantina Zocalo sounds perfect! Jess - I actually got this informal cocktail party idea from other brides on BDW as well as this thread! I just don't see the point in paying for a private cocktail party at an all inclusive resort, so we're saving a lot by doing this.
