  1. Not sure about being unrealistic but a lot of the all inclusive hotels have 3 / 4 weddings a day but I'd imagine in December it might not be as busy. Like I say I having looked into a quiet wedding like you suggest but I'm sure there will be places that would suit. You could even look into a villa type accommodation, I know it wouldn't be all inclusive but it would give you the private wedding that you are looking for and accommodate the children. I hope you find what you are looking for!! Good luck
  2. what kind of prices were you being quoted, if you dont mind me asking!!
  3. Hi everyone, I hope all your plans for your upcoming weddings are coming along well and are not stressing too much!! I am looking for any recommendations / helps in finding someone that does hair and make up for my fiancee on our wedding day I would appreciate views from past brides as well as present brides with who you have booked and your experiences with them. any help would be much appreciated. thanks mark
  4. Hey travelgal78, congratulation on your up coming wedding, i hope your having fun starting your planning. the new hotel does look amazing but i would be inclined to side with your fiance on this one (promise its not the guys ganging up on you!! lol) it says that the hotel is opening November 2015, that assuming that the "project" runs on time, chances are it will open later than that. that only leaves them with a couple of months to get into the rhythm of how to run proper weddings etc not to say that they wont be able to get up to speed with things but i personally would rather go somewhere that has been doing wedding day in day out and have it nailed on the head before paying out so much money and hoping that everything will work out ok. like i say its only a personal opinion, take it for what its worth, but i wouldn't be risking it just in case. whatever you decide i hope you have a great time with your planning and a great day with your friends and family Mark82
  5. Hi Everyone, I am looking for any reviews from past brides that have used Claudia or any of her team from Claudia Photography in Cancun for their wedding photographer? We are thinking of booking her and so far she has been great with supplying us with information and is very quick at replying to all our emails. Would just like to hear about anyone's experience in using them. Good value for money/did you get all the shots you wanted/ did they make you feel comfortable etc Thanks for your time Mark & Elaine
  6. Hi Everyone, i hope everyone's plans are coming along nicely and no-one is too stressed out!! lol I'm looking for information on the best way to pay your final bills for your wedding, my thinking behind this question is because every time i try to use my card on a foreign website etc for a large amount on money my bank automatically declines the transaction. Being from the UK the last thing i want to be doing is chasing around my bank from abroad to get the money sorted. Past brides i would love to hear your input on how you went about it. We are getting married in Cancun then going on the Las Vegas afterwards and im just stressing out about having to take so much money with us to cover everything. i know everything should be ok but you always hear these horror stories that peoples rooms/safes have been broken into etc Anyway hope you are all well, any comments are more than welcome. Mark & Elaine
  7. hi YossiMeyer, sorry ive not been in touch not been on here in a while!! we eventually got someone from Thomson wedding specialist section to phone the judge and ask exactly what is needed for getting married. youre right that you only need an apostilled and translated birth certificate if you want your parents names on the wedding certificate. not exactly sure why you would want that anyway but also it should be made clear that this is the reason for needing the apostilled and translated version!! we were stessing about this fact for a long time about whether to go ahead and get a translated and apostilled version just in case. i was told to phone the wedding specialist team back maybe 3 months before our wedding just to make sure since mexican laws seem to change very regularly. i hope this helps and your wedding plans are coming along nicely.
  8. Hi Kat, We've contacted our wedding co-or donator a few times asking bits and bobs to do with wedding. We had to fill in a form with all our parents and witnesses information etc and we've selected a restaurant for our wedding dinner. Te documentation side of things seems to be the only issue we've had so far, getting a lot of different and contradicting information from everyone. Wedding co-ordinator says we need our birth certificates apostilled and translated into Spanish but thomson wedding specialists say we don't!! Very confusing!! Spoke to a woman on Friday that says we shouldn't need it but she will Contact the judge and find out which will be a lot of help!! We've already got copies of our birth certificates and had them apostilled so would only need them to be translated. Would rather spend a little bit of money getting it done and have them rather than take the change not getting it done as panicking at the last Minute!! We've started looking at photographers just now as well, trying to be as well prepared as possible!! Lol Anyway hope all is going well for you and your having a good weekend !! Mark & Elaine
  9. Hi Kat2014, Congratulations on getting your wedding plans off to a start. My Fiancee and I are getting Married next year at the Riu Caribe, i know its not the same hotel but maybe we can help each other with any questions that we may have?! With regards to your wedding plans, we have booked the same package for our wedding, due to the numbers we have going, the photographer isnt included in the package deal but hiring one will take a bit of research, we are in the middle of doing this just now and its quite hard to know what your looking for as all the photographers we have looked at, via the vendors on this site, all have really good looking portfolios!! Also as part of the wedding package through Thomson/First choice minimal decoration is included i.e. table cloth and seat covers etc but if you speak to your wedding co-ordinator they will be able to help you with your requests and anything else that you want to do with your special day. Have you spoke to your wedding co-ordinator yet? Have you looked into the documentation requirements for your wedding? Anyway i hope you're very excited and start to get things moving along. Mark & Elaine.
  10. I think it depends on where you are actually getting married I think it's down to the hotels rules and what the judge what's from the couple! I've actually spoke to a few people that were married recently in Mexico and even they're answers differ!! We've been told its only passport copies, birth certificates (translated and apostilled) and blood test as well as travel cards (you get on the plane)

  12. Hi April2013bride, I was wondering how you got on with getting your documentation translated etc? We are having the same problem at the moment, we are getting married in cancun in april next year and having real difficulty getting accurate information on getting our documents translated and apostilled. What company are you using for translating and apostille, if you dont mind me asking? and how much is it costing you? I hope you have managed to get things moving along as i know how stressful it can become. Thanks Mark & Elaine
  13. Hi everyone, i hope everyone's wedding plans are moving along smoothly and you are all very excited about you upcoming weddings abroad! we are getting married in Cancun next April and we are having some trouble we it comes to getting the correct documentation translated and apostilled i.e. our birth certificates has anyone else been through this process of getting their birth certificates translated and apostilled for their wedding? and if so what company/companies did you use? its a very expensive process (£250 - £400) and would just like to make sure we are doing it properly. my second question will probably be for anyone that has already been married in mexico, when you get your marriage certificate at the wedding it is obviously in spanish. what is the process of getting this translated and authenticated into english? do you have to do this while in mexico or can this be done once you get home? also if you do this once you get home was it included in the price you got to translate and apostille the english to spanish birth certificates? sorry for all the questions but this seems to be the only real complication that we seem to be coming up against so far and some advise would be very much appreciated. thanks for all your help and suggestions Mark & Elaine
  14. thanks for the information Yazmin. i am more looking for information from people that might have already gone through this process or are in the process of going through it, possibly from the UK. i have found one or 2 companies that do this service but they seem very expensive and i dont know how to check if getting these companies will produce accepted documents that will be ok for mexico. like i say its very hard trying to get accurate information from places. i have emailed the wedding coordinator and he has told me the documents i need etc just have to find out how to go about it. Mark & Elaine

  17. 18. Hi Everyone, I hope everyone's plans for their wedding are coming along nicely!! we're looking for some help/advise when it comes to choosing a photographer for our wedding in Cancun next year. Can anyone recommend one or anyone that has been married tell us of their experience with their wedding photographer? It's quite hard choosing one when you can only have a look at their website and see some of their photographs, I'd like to hear some couple's reviews on their wedding day experiences and how good they were. Also, Roughly, what should we be looking to spend on a photographer for our wedding day? all opinions and comments welcome!! thanks for all your help. Mark & Elaine
  19. Hi Everyone, new to these forums and looking for a bit of help!! my Fiancee and I are planning on getting married next April (2014) in Cancun at Riu Caribe (possibly!) i was wondering when booking your weddings how close to the actual date did you mange to get?! my concerns are around the fact that as it is our first wedding that we will need to have 4 witnesses and that they have to be in the country for a minimum of 3 days before the wedding!! due to the cost of everyone getting there we were only going to ask our guests to come over for 1 week (Saturday to Saturday) this means Mon-wed will count as 3 day residency period which then only leaves us will Thurs and Friday as possible wedding dates. my fear is that if the wedding day has to moved for any unforeseen reason that we might end up with no guests!!! i was also wondering if anyone has been married using witnesses that your wedding co ordinator has supplied for you? i just want to know how involved they are in the ceremony etc as in i don't want our wedding photos to end up with 4 random people in them, as much as i would appreciate them helping us out!! information overload i know, sorry about that but everything seams very daunting at the moment and wish you could speak to a wedding co ordinator before you actually forked out thousands of pounds booking your holidays etc!! thanks for all your time and help Mark & Elaine
