  1. Just an update... Shew what a journey! I have 43 confirmed and booked guest flying non-stop to cancun for 6 nights to attend my wedding. I have chosen an outdoor reception ($80/person). I think the DJ is an additional charge. I am shipping my dress, groom's suit, my moms dress. I also had tumblers made to give out to our guest on the first night downstairs at one of the hotel bars for a little "welcome party" and monogrammed welcome bags w/ goodies for the guest to have in their rooms when they arrive ($2 delivery charge per room). I am shipping those as well. The WC said I could ship it all to him and he would take care of everything. As far as the ceremony I am hoping they can do white fabric decorations replacing the blue in the picture they sent me. I have chosen the outdoor reception with the dance floor I'd like to lose the white ruffled skirt around he dance floor but oh well. I'll be lucky if 50% of the wedding goes "as planned". I am a terrible planner.
  2. Thank you. I saw this on weddingpaperdivas.com. I received an email where you could get 10 free invitation samples and this was one of those samples. We loved it. We called one of our local photographers in town on a Friday evening and she took the pic that Saturday morning. She used some past vacations photos she had of the beach and recreated the same look from the website invitation and then I just used it when ordering from the site. We were pleased with outcome. We wasn't planning on using a photo invite but glad we did.
  3. I loved looking through everyone's pictures and thought I would share mine as well. I am a June 2013 Riu Peninsula Cancun bride. It is also the same place I got engaged.
  4. I went ahead and reserved the Isla Mujeres for 6:45pm just in case I decided not to do the private reception. My guest have until April 1st to make their reservation with my travel agent so I won't know until then what kind of reception to go with. So far I have about 30 people confirmed but I just sent invitations out 4 days ago. Wonder if I had so many guest that it took up the entire restaurant or even 75-90% of the restaurant? Would it be included in the package as a semi private reception? Obviously I wouldn't care to share with others, but other people there vacationing may not want to have dinner in a restaurant where 90% of the crowd is all together celebrating a wedding. Anyways, I'm just thinking out loud.
  5. Oh I wish. I just went back and checked out my emails from the wedding coordinator and it says private reception event 80 USD/person which includes food and beverages. Also if you want a cocktail hour it is 20 USD. The cocktail hour is held in the garden right were the wedding will take place. I also asked about a laundry service at he hotel that could steam my dress once I arrive. The WC said they could do that but hey needed the dress 2 days prior to the wedding. Just a few things I thought I could share that might be helpful. There is also 3 options for the semi private dinner reception. *Restaurant Isla Mujeres -Steak House (á la carte) - sitting reservations only if available 1° sitting 6:45pm or 2° sitting at 8:45pm *Restaurant Tamales - Mexican (á la carte)- sitting reservations only if available 1° sitting 6:30pm or 2° sitting at 8:45pm (maximum 15 people) *Restaurant Kabuki- Japanese (á la carte)- sitting reservations only if available 1° sitting 6:30pm or 2° sitting at 8:45pm (maximum 10 people)

My guest have until April 1st to confirm whether thy are going or not so I wanted to wait until I got the final count before I decide what reception is best fit for those attending.
  7. I have booked the royal package. I believe it's called that. I have been working with the wedding coordinator and I asked for some photos of the possible reception options. I have stayed at the riu but I was having trouble trying to image where everything would be taking place. These are the pics that he sent. I believe the outside option is an additional 80/person but I'm not sure. Sometimes the info is difficult to understand through email. [/img][/img]
  8. Hey Noel, I have rooms saved for me until jan 22, but I was hoping to get more wedding info before I completely commit. My travel agent said I would have to be booked before I could speak with the hotel wedding coordinator to plan the exact day and time. Does that sound right? If they can't host a wedding on the day or at the time I want it why would I stay there. Anyways, my email is [email protected]. I would LOVE any info you have. My travel agent also received the room date, rates, and booking contract Wednesday (requested 5 days earlier maybe? not long) and said it had to be confirmed by the 22nd. 12 days to get in touch with every guest, get a commitment and a down payment from each one. How tacky. It's not even enough time to mail an invitation which to me is the only appropriate way to announce the wedding plans. How many guest are you planning on having? I would love to see a video of one of their weddings. Have you stayed at the riu peninsula before? Do you think you are getting a good deal? Sorry for the 20 questions. Let me know how things are going. Haley
  9. I am also getting married at the riu peninsula this summer. I have no clue what to do or how to plan this. I need a photographer, schedule of events, a location for the wedding within the resort, etc. I have stayed at the hotel before, but never witnessed a wedding while I was there. Any suggestions, reviews, etc would be greatly appreciated. Haley
