Just wondering if anyone used Weddingmix or is using them for their destination wedding? Would like to see a review or get some feedback. It seems like a great affordable alternative the the traditional wedding video. I've only seen one other bride on the forum use it and the video included the whole week festivities which is cool. http://www.storymixmedia.com/weddings/

Hiring friends? Advice please!
NJBride2014 replied to megssweet1's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I also say its your wedding and go with who you want and just tell the other friend you went a different direction. I had a friend who really wanted to do my invites since he's in the printing business but I found one's I loved online and I had to break it to him that I was not going to use him. He was a little bummed but understood and I think i'll have him help me do welcome brochure's now. Everything works out in the end. -
I'm having an adults only wedding. My fiance and I fell in love with the resort we picked years before we were engaged. We always told family when the time came that it would be at this specific resort and that it was adults only. Years ago that was not a problem as there were no kids in either of our families. Fast forward 4 years and my 3 sisters I'm one of 4 all have had 1 child each. I now have 3 nephews ages 6 months, 2 years old, and 3 years old. By the time I get married they will be 1 1/2 years old, 3 years old and 4 years old. When I got engaged I was scared to even bring up the adults only resort again since now we had to think about accomdating kids/nephews. Luckily my sisters were so understanding and pushed me to keep the adults only resort and said they would figure out who would babysit they are leaving them with grandparents and other family. I planned my wedding as a long weekend also so they wouldn't be gone for too long. I would love my nephews to be there but they are so young right now they won't even remember the wedding or really be involved. Plus my sisters are my moh and bridesmaids I can't imagine them even focusing on me the day of the wedding if all 3 of them had to take care of their kids. My one sister the MOH was a little sad she couldn't bring her son and contemplated staying at another resort so she could bring him but this summer we went on a family trip with all the boys and that was an eye opener for all of my sisters, now no kids allowed lol. They are all looking forward to and an adult weekend away from the kids.

I really wanted to work with him first and see his style before we booked our wedding but i'm sure it will be great and we will most likely go with them for the wedding. Definately budget busting but oh so worth it. Yes prices at the resort were at least double what Marvin is charging and He even did this one up based on my pictures to show me exactly how it will look! Great, I definately need to get some pics of what I want to send them to him and get some quotes.

Music: This is one area we decided to save money (I really hope we don't regret this decision!) we are opting to just rent the equipment and then use an iPod. Since in the end it really only ends up being 2 hours of party time (after cocktail hour, and dinner and having to shut down at 10pm), it seemed silly to spend almost $1600 on a DJ. But I really want a good party so fingers crossed we can pull this off! I booked Juan from Del Sol Photography to do our engagment pictures we are actually going to do them next week. We are so excited to work with him and see him in action. I'm sure your wedding pictures are going to be amazing and worth every penny. Their photography style is awesome. I'm on the fence on the whole ipod/DJ I want the party atmosphere and don't want to be worried about the ipod messing up the flow of things but you are right to spend over a grand for a DJ for 2 hours seems a little much.

I need to contact Marvin at Mayafloral to get some quotes the prices at the resort are pretty insane.

The night before.....???
NJBride2014 replied to selassie11's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
I think I would like to keep this one tradition and not see my fiance before the wedding. It might be hard since our hotel is pretty small but I would to spend my last night before getting married with my bridesmaids/sisters and mom and then spend the wedding day getting ready with them. He can spend the day with his groomsmen and friends and then we can have our big reveal. Just not sure if my hotel gives a free room night if not I'll stay in my sisters room and he can stay in our room then I just need him to leave early. He can change in his brother's room so I can have our room to myself. lol I have a year to figure it out. -
bouquet's as centerpieces?
NJBride2014 replied to smith3576's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
Awesome idea it would be great to use the bouquets for more than just the ceremony. -
Thanks for the planning thread its really informative and I'm getting really good ideas. I'm getting married at LeBlanc (palace resort) next year and hope to take full advantage of their resort credits and free night promotion hopefully i'm lucky enough to book enough room nights. Can't wait to read the rest.

I was very upset that my best friend of 24 years was unable to make the wedding. I was her MOH (spent $200 on a dress I couldn't afford at 21yrs of age) and traveled to her wedding (though I stayed with relatives for free) ...I have also made it home for two of her kids births and a christening. I felt alot of resentment but I get it- she's a mom and things are different. It was tough to come to the realization that she wouldn't make it but I intend to focus on the guests that actually will be there ! That's sucks about your friend but you have the right attitude enjoy the guests that are coming. Have an awesome wedding!

My coordinator is Paola i'm actually going on my site visit in 2 weeks. How did your wedding turn out? I hope great I can't wait to start doing some actual planning. What package did you go with? I'm doing the complimentary right now and might add on. I really like the signature package but it might be out of the budget.

I learned this from my friends as they picked their bridal party too early and there was at least one person they wish they would have included and or gotten rid of once the big day got closer. 2) It is your day and it does only matter what you want. When you get those No's back your heart does sink and you get disappointed- but when you are in Mexico or wherever your wedding is- you forgot about those people that didn't come. My motto for my wedding was "It's their loss" they have to hear about how much fun we had in Mexico for the rest of their lives- sucks for them haha. Don't sweat the small stuff- if you do not get in contact with your onsite wedding coordinator a week or a month before you wedding- don't worry- it will all work out- these ladies are AMAZING and this is their job and they will make all your dreams come true!!! 3) I def agree with Allie Pick a good photographer- your pictures are all you have after your wedding is over- I love looking at my 800 plus photos. And keep in mind it might actually be cheaper to fly a photographer from your hometown vs hiring local to your wedding location. I contacted a few local photographers from home and asked if they would be interested if doing a destination wedding! I ended up getting a photographer for 3 days with a TTD session, some rehersal dinner shots and ALL day and night wedding coverage (10 am to 10pm) for the same price as I would have gotten a Cancun photographer for 6 hours on the wedding day. So don't be scared to ask!!! Oh and she did our engagement photos at home so we got to know her a little bit better before our big day and that was also included. 4) I recommend this which is something we were not able to do because we were married in Nov and my husband started a new job in Sept so he did not have much vacation time- but def take a couple days after the wedding and switch resorts or make everyone leave the resort and stay longer. We spent a week in mexico- and about 12 people stayed the full week with us and the rest of the people (we had 39 total) stayed for 5 nights and we did not get any alone time as we didn't stay longer than our guests. I feel like I got cheated out of my honeymoon as we felt obligated to eat and hang out with our guests the entire time. So the hubby better be taking me on a "honeymoon" for our one year anniversary! Such great advice. Thanks!
