  1. Wow, that's very generous! Good karma coming your way and lots of luck on your wedding planning.
  2. I sent my invites out 8 months before the wedding but 6 months before the rooms had to be paid off. I think I timed it pretty well, a lot of people are booking now. I guess with tax season underway a lot of people are thinking of a vacation especially since our NJ winter was pretty bad this year.
  3. So far these are the things I got for my girls: 1. White Havaianas flip flops 2. Pinch Provisions Mini Emergency kits which doubles as little make up bags 3. I'm going to order them robes 4. I might also give them each a nice necklace from Tiffany's. (My fiance's aunt works at Tiffany's so she can get us a good deal) 5. Also paid their room deposits $50.00 each. I'm treating them extra special because 3 of them are my sisters, 1 is my aunt and 1 is my best friend since 4th grade. Making the trip to Cancun is asking a lot of them and they have been wonderful doing whatever they have to do to be there. We are still working on the groomsmen not sure what my fiance wants to do for them I think we are purchasing their ties.
  4. I did the site inspection at Le Blanc (a palace resort) after I booked my wedding but since I knew I was definitely having the wedding there I knew that we would get the money back/credited to our wedding account. So I'm not sure if you are a hundred percent certain it will be at Moon Palace or if you have other places in mind you could take advantage of the discounted rate and visit other sites to compare. If Moon Palace is your number one resort then at least you know you'll get credited back the money if you decide to book it after, so essentially you are only paying for your flights. On my 3 day site visit I got meet with our on site wedding coordinator and do a thorough walk through of the entire hotel and see all of our options location wise. We also did a food and cake tasting and met with the chef which was great. I found the site visit helpful and worth it for my peace of mind to know that my wedding was in good hands. If you can swing it and its in the budget I recommend it. As for you daughter, see if kids are free if they are then you are only paying $738.00 for the weekend (plus flight). I think for us at Le Blanc we paid around $319 a night and now have $957 in our wedding account that we are using for extra entertainment at the wedding. Also another tip if you go for the site visit it has to be 3 nights at the discounted rate and for us there weren't any resort credits that we could use so keep that in mind. Let me know if you have any other questions.
  5. I see that you got married at Beach Palace I'm also getting married at a palace resort. Was Planner1 an approved vendor or an outside vendor with the vendor fee? I'm trying to plan out my decor now and looking over the two choices they gave me Zuniga and Gama. But if Planner1 is an option I would like to get more information. Thanks.
  6. Is it possible to send me all the approved vendors list too? I'm getting married at Le Blanc (a place resort) and I would ask my wedding planner but it takes forever sometimes to get an email back. I have all the vendors brochures from 2013 but need their 2014 prices. Did you find Gama to be cheaper than Zuniga? Thanks!!
  7. Thanks everyone! I can't wait for Del Sol to do our wedding photos, only 6 more months to go....
  8. @@LINDS2014 Are you getting married at the Beach Palace or LeBlanc? I'm doing the signature package at LeBlanc and I'm in the process of having my guests book now. We have not reached the 75 room nights yet. I'm really hoping to book that many so we can take advantage of the free unlimited events and 7 free nights.
  9. That's a good tip about the dance floor. I'm getting married at Le Blanc Spa Resort and will have my reception on the terrace and was wondering if we really need to get the dance floor. I think i'm going to just do the lighting around were the dance floor would be instead, I really like the look of the paper lanterns. When i asked my wedding planner from palace she says in her opinion it would look weird with out the dance floor especially if you want a lot of dancing. I just can't justify spending that much on both the lights and dance floor if we are on the terrace. Really trying not to spend too much money on extras. Aahh this is all adding up fast.
  10. I agree with @@talicea7812 I sent my save the dates 15 months in advance, as soon as we booked the date and had room rates. We wanted to give everyone as much information as we could as soon as possible. We sent our invites at the beginning of this month so 8 months before our wedding but 6 months before the deadline to pay off the rooms. I don't think you need to do announcements people could confuse them as invites. Also I would send invites to anyone you would invite to a wedding at home that's what we did. We knew some of the people were definite no's but we wanted them to feel included and also I'm having a bridal shower so some of those no's would still be invited to that. I used magnetstreet for my std's and invites they were pretty good with their prices and they always have discount codes.
  11. I started planning my wedding in May of 2013 (engaged December 2012) and I'm still 7 months away from my wedding date. It's never too early to start planning it will help you stay organized and get every question you want answered especially from the resort wedding planner. Plus you can work on projects throughout the year and spread the cost as well. It can get stressful planning sometimes so I like to take some days or weeks off in between so the earlier you start the more time you have to finish stuff and the closer you get to your date you'll be set with all the details and just enjoy the moment. Welcome to the board!! Also the sooner you send out Save the dates and get that info to your guests the better. Trust me we sent out our save the dates a 15 months ahead of our wedding date and our guests appreciated the advanced notice. Since we gave them so much time to think about it and save up we are getting more people booking that I had anticipated.
  12. Wow this is a tough one, in one hand I understand that you have vacation planned and in no way should you have to change it since you did plan it before she started her wedding planning. In the other hand I understand her not wanting to give up the venue if there aren't many dates available. I say tell her firmly you plan on taking your trip and do not plan to change your dates then she can do what she wants with that information. Either she can decide to book the venue anyway knowing you won't be there and at least she knew upfront about you not attending or she can start looking into other places and dates. The only thing with her looking at other venues and dates is are you a hundred percent sure that if she does look at other venues and dates and is trying her best to pick dates in which you can come will you definitely come? Brides will change venues and dates for guests and then the guests they tried to accommodate end up not being able to come anyway which sucks for the bride because now she is catering to everyone else and lost the place and date she really wanted. Not saying that you will do this to her but just know that she will also be sacrificing her dream wedding by changing venue/date and then you still can't make it for some reason. I know that when I started planning my wedding I ran into the issue of picking the right date and venue to accommodate everyone but I was never able to please every guests so we went with what worked for us and understood that some people would not be able to make it. That's just the attitude that you have to go with when planning a destination wedding sometimes it doesn't work for everyone. In your situation I see that you really feel bad and would love to be there for her but if she does pick this venue and date and you can't make that doesn't mean you can't help her and be supportive throughout the wedding planning. You also said she has another MOH so she will have someone there by her side to help. I asked my best friend of 30 years to be in my wedding as a bridesmaids a year and half before my wedding and she didn't reply to me until 7 months after I asked her saying that she wasn't sure she could do it. She ignored me and made up excuses for not responding and handled everything wrong and now our relationship is strained because of it. I would have understood totally if she couldn't make it for whatever reason, it was the way she handled it and by not being upfront with me and treating me like my feelings and wedding didn't matter that hurt the most. At least with you I can see that you are trying your hardest to be there for her. Good luck with whatever you guys do. In the end hopefully whatever you guys choose to do remember to keep the friendship it tact. I hope I helped a little.
  13. They never sent me the information for PSAV I didn't even know it was an option as they only gave me a catalogue for JSAV. I had to ask for it and I only knew they were an option from reading it the forums same thing with the decor I didn't know that Zuniga was an option I only had info on Gama but I requested the Zuniga info and it was also cheaper. Definitely get your wedding planner to get you a quote from them instead.
  14. Yeah that sounds very pricey. I know that Palace Resorts also works with PSAV and their prices are a little cheaper I just got quoted $1,525.40 for 4 hours for a DJ and this is also including music for our cocktail hour. See if you can use PSAV.
  15. Snowed-in New Jersey with 10 inches and more coming. Getting a lot of wedding planning done since I'm home all day with the fiance. He's having so much fun... Jk Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  16. Very close to my colors, Coral, turquoise and champagne. I love these colors together. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
  17. Any other LeBlanc Brides out there?? Just wanted to see how the planning process is going?
  18. @@beccafries Thanks, I'm just starting to pick out flowers, dj, decor and mailed out my invitations today!! It's all coming so fast, hopefully I don't get too stressed out.
  19. No problem @@ThisYearsGirl27 I'm adding all sorts of stuff to the wedding video my engagment pics, bridal shower, wedding dress shopping, bach parties, wedding weekend and honeymoon. I love that you can add a little of everything and really get to relive the whole process. You can also share the app with friends and family and have them film at events and share with you their clips and photos so you can get stuff you might miss.
  20. Hi @@kaliellis10 I also have Elizabeth Yanez and my experience has been good so far. I mean it does take a couple days sometimes for her to respond to emails and questions but that's to be expected. I've also had phone calls with her and they went great I just always make sure to have a million questions on hand so I'm prepared to ask her everything I want to know at once. Maybe set up another phone call with her and voice your concerns I know she handles alot of weddings and it can be hard to keep them all straight sometime but you should still feel like you are getting just as much attention and care when it comes to your wedding just like any other bride. I'm sure if you voice your concerns and have questions regarding your wedding ready she will be happy to help you. She's been very pleasant and helpful to me we are even pinterest friends and I started a private wedding board that she follows so she can see my ideas. Good luck I know the wedding planning can be stressful I know i'm stressed. lol
  21. I did faux calligraphy which basically is to print the addresses on the envelopes with very light ink and then trace them in whatever color you want. Works great and saves you lots of money. Here is a tutorial http://www.projectwedding.com/forums/diy-faux-calligraphy-tutorial.
  22. Hi all I just wanted to share some of my favorite engagement pictures from the talented and awesome Juan of Del Sol Photography. We had our engagement photo shoot back in October in Playa Del Carmen but i've only just had a chance to really sit down and post them. We loved how the pics came out so much that we also booked them for our wedding. My fiance and I just love their work and knew they were worth the splurge. If you can fit them into your budget I highly recommend them.
