  1. This is the dress I fell in love with at the last store we went to. I'm so happy I didn't cancel that appointment! I can't wait until it comes in and I can have it altered to fit me. The lace overlay comes off and you can wear the dress underneath on its own. So I basically have two dresses in one which is amazing!
  2. I do have a picture! I can't wait until I get it and can have it altered to me. The lace overlay comes off and you can wear the dress underneath, it's like having two dresses!
  3. Thanks! It looks like you can get them for a pretty good price from there! I want to order them now but our wedding is not until Nov so I'm worried the battery will run out by then (since they're cheap and maybe you can't turn them off?).
  4. I love your dress. This was my close runner up. Do you have any pictures of you in the dress?
  5. I definitely want to find some of those waterproof watches but it looks like you found those in England. Have you tried them out to see if they work, how long they last and if they are indeed waterproof?
  6. Oh my gosh, how fun! We could be date twins at the same resort! It sounds like no matter what you decide, we'll be there at the same time. We're flying in on the 17th (Sunday) and we're going to stay for two weeks. Just remember for dresses that it usually takes 6 months to get them in and then you will most likely need it altered. I went dress shopping a week ago and everyone at the stores told me that I should order my dress within the next month (just so you don't end up feeling stressed).
  7. It's good to point out that you don't have to buy a new dress from a bridal shop. You can save a lot by sourcing one out online that's preowned. I don't think there's anything wrong with that and any superstitions attached to it. The dress I ended up going with is very new and is not available preowned as of yet. I did four appointments spread out over 4 days. I didn't want to feel overwhelmed each day but I wanted to remember how I felt in each dress since I have the memory of a goldfish and they don't allow you to take photos. After the third appointment I was just going to settle (I realize now that I was settling) for one at the first shop because everyone said it looked amazing on me. Out of all the ones I'd tried on it was the best but I wasn't really into buying it and I attributed that to me never getting emotionally attached to things, so I thought it was okay. I kept my last appointment and it was there I found a dress that I ended up buying. Once I had it on, I thought, "Dang, I look good!" I turned again and again in it and like it more and more. I didn't want to take it off so I decided to go with it. There were no fireworks going off, no crying or big Ah-haa moments and visualizations of me walking down the aisle but I felt beautiful in it, comfortable and I felt it suited me. And I'm so happy I found it because I really love it!
  8. Congrats! What day in November? Join the rest of us on this thread, where we've all seemed to congregate, ask questions and try to wish that time would go by faster! http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/76851/excellence-riviera-cancun-brides/250#post_1873802 and there's this one for Nov 2013 brides that's helpful: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/80572/november-2013-brides/70#post_1873939
  9. Agreed, EVKnowsitall, you look amazing and Congrats on the weight loss! Vanessa, when you find that padded bra, let us know what brand. I'm on the lookout for one as well! A-cup brides unite, lol.
  10. Awesome, thanks!! The hardest part is deciding what to use it on.
  11. Oh okay, I think of knew of that area but did not have a name for it. It sounds like it will be beautiful. I can not stop laughing at the thought of putting frozen gel pads on me! It probably does work but I'm too much of a wimp for that, plus I doubt November will be too hot. What date is your wedding?
  12. Agreed, you can get a photography package in the $2000+ range, especially if you keep it to 6hrs or under, one photographer and no prints/photo album. There are other people who spend $3000, $4000, $5000 and up. It just depends on who you want to do your package and what you get with it. I looked up reviews on here and I emailed the vendors who had great reviews and whose style I liked. I gave them the general idea of what I was looking for: number of hours, one or two photographers, prints/no prints, albums/no albums, trash the dress session or not, general budget range and see what they can offer you.
  13. She has never mentioned a limit to the venues, so I imagine it'll be fine. Best to email her and ask to be sure though.
  14. I think people will have room to dance. I've seen pictures of past weddings in there and people are dancing on what looks like a designated dance floor. How many guests will you have?
  15. Thanks for the tips on the suit. He doesn't even own one suit yet so any suit will be an upgrade. You're right that if you get it tailored specifically to him, it'll look really great even if it's a $99 suit. The funny thing is this weekend while shopping for wedding dresses, we found a dress my Mom loved for herself but not in the colour she wanted. BUT it was in the most gorgeous shade of orange called 'Mango Tango'. I tried to convince her to get it anyways. Here's a link, maybe they have other styles in the same shade? http://www.jasminebridal.com/ugC_Product_Detail.asp?hidP_kind=Bridesmaids&hidP_style=Belsoie&hidP_style_ID=L154021&hiddetaillist=01
  16. I think it'll look really pretty. Have a look at this inspiration board http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/cant-decide-1#axzz2LNSzGyrA I think I'm going to get my bridesmaids cute robes in different prints http://store.plumprettysugar.com/, a clutch and maybe earrings or a ring suited to them. I've also considered a very nice travel jewellry holder (it looks like a clutch). And I'm going to get them mani/pedis at the spa the day before or a massage, their choice.
  17. Hey Girls, Here are a few sites I've found that have great deals on linens. http://www.tableclothsfactory.com/tablecloths-Table-Linens-Chair-Covers-Sashes-s/5.htm http://www.linentablecloth.com/ http://www.nextag.com/linen-napkins-sale/products-html http://www.tablelinensforless.com/catalog/premium-cloth-napkins-p-6407.html http://weddinglinensdirect.com/ The only thing is I'm trying to find some napkins that aren't satin and shiny, and I'm having difficulty with that. I may just make them but if you find some, let me know. Mayerlis I have heard the foyer is very hot in the summer, but the girls who had their receptions there seemed to have an awesome time. I think Bondgirl had hers there, so maybe find her posts and read them or PM her.
  18. Thanks for posting about Studiosuits.com and the great deal you found at Old Navy. I am nervous about ordering a suit online but it's probably the route we'll take so he can get an affordable suit that (hopefully) looks good. Does anyone know other than linen what fabrics are best for suits in hot weather? Here are some websites I found with veil weights. They're magnetic so you can pop them on for the ceremony and take them off without ruining your veil. http://www.savetheveil.com/ a shop on etsy http://www.etsy.com/listing/122616090/magnetic-pearl-veil-weights-bride-bridal?ref=v1_other_1 and http://www.haircomesthebride.com/save_the_veil_veil_weights.htm. There are probably tons of other places to find them as well.
  19. I think I'm going to bring my own linens as well, although I'm trying to find some that aren't shiny (satin). Thanks for clearing it up. What do you think you'll put in your OOT bags?
  20. Hey Rhiham, I think all of those colours sound so pretty. The advantage of having a destination wedding is getting to pick brighter colours, it just seems to fit so well! I haven't heard of 'Las Olas' location for cocktail hour, where/what is that? I'm definitely considering doing a makeup/hair trial before the wedding. Either that or I thought I'd schedule my appt for early the day of the wedding so I have time to fix it if necessary. But maybe I can just do the trial the day we have the welcome dinner and then I get to look hot on two days?? I don't know about sweating and makeup but I've heard about a sort of sealant spray for makeup and want to look into it. What fabric is your dress?
  21. Dina - We're flying down on the 17th! Ahhh just thinking about it makes me so happy! Probably also because I tried on dresses for the first time yesterday and today - it was so fun! We considered having it at Now Sapphire as well. I have no idea where to buy the weights, sorry but I'd look into ebay or etsy. Otherwise if you are okay spending more I'd just ask a bridal store. I also have people flying from all over - Van, Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon and Toronto so I have to wait for flight schedules to figure out the welcome dinner. I think my next project will be painting the OOT bags - Fun!!
  22. Hey! Date twins! Congrats! Have you considered weights for the veil?
  23. No I live in Vancouver and sometimes we go down to Bellingham, Seattle area to go shopping. I see there are a few stores around that area. My FH has a similar problem, wide shoulders, slim waist and big thighs as he's a trainer and is very fit (I'm not complaining! lol), so pants never seem to fit him right, they're always too tight in the thigh. Good idea, I'll sign up for the mailing list. What's one more? haha
  24. Thanks for letting us know. It looks great! How does it fit him? We might visit one in Washington to see how they fit and feel. We have a lot of time to find him a suit so I'm guessing a few more sales will come up before we need it. I'm thinking the groomsmen will only wear pants and a shirt, so it seems like it might be more economical to just buy those things rather than rent.
