Do u have pics of what u Are doing?!! I'm still up in the air:/ Yes - I made pomander balls (that I'm in love with!) and I'm going to hang them off the chairs down the aisle. Then reusing them again as centerpieces by flipping them into a salad bowl I got from Ikea. I'll post pictures in my planning journal soon!
  2. Thanks Backy! Glad you liked it - it was a lot of work putting that site together but it did the trick. Not many people asked many questions at all because I tried to make the site as informative as possible. Some of my guests even told me they loved the site so much they had people over to look at it together for over an hour hahaha.

Awww thanks!! I'm hoping to post more pictures soon. Hopefully tonight I can get a few posts up on the ceremony decorations or other DIY stuff I've been pulling together
  4. I just had a girl's get together last night at one of my bridesmaid's house... and she announced that she is expecting!!! I'm so happy for her! And... I KNEW something like this was going to happen. I had purchased an extra BM dress in one size up just in case!! HA! Risk Management right here! Thought I'd share this random wonderful news with you guys

I never pay full price at Michaels LoL. I definitely know better than to pay for full price items at Michael's. The mark up is crazy. I had a 50% off coupon but sitll found the wire to be a bit pricey. Maybe I'll go back again and look again. But yes, thanks for that tip!
  6. Quote:Originally Posted by EVKnowsitall Haha seriously! Everything is confusing. Centerpieces, flowers, invitations, favors- its nuts! My friend planned her wedding in 5 months and that seems to be the way to go. She didn't think twice about anything, just picked and that was it. I've been engaged since November 2011 and second guessed and/or changed everything. We had everything set for a stateside wedding before we went destination! LOLÂ Â My two older sisters have seen my frustration and craziness and one has decided to do a cruiseship wedding- only immediate family and the other asked for my help and I told her to not tell a single soul she is getting married, to book a modest venue, get her dress and everything else she needs without telling anyone, to invite everyone to the venue under the premise that it is a surprise engagement party- to have me or her husband to be send out the invites, and then surprise! She comes out in her white dress and its like "you're all here for my wedding." NO DRAMA, no bridal party, no second guessing. She isn't engaged yet so this plan could work lol, but they have been talking about it. I actually know a friend who went to a wedding like that - they thought they were going to an engagement party only to show up and 'Surprise! We're getting married today!!' How awesome is that. I'm not complaining about doing things they way I am though. I've been enjoying every moment of this wedding planning - even the stressful parts. But the most interesting thing from this whole process has been seeing the true colors of those around you. It's really amazing how generous and giving and loving some are, and then there are others who make it a point to make everything about them. haha
  7. Quote:Originally Posted by alexisinjamaica @MissJali I love that DVD idea! I did a scratch off card for save the dates that revealed the location. This was a fun way to tell people who didn't already know where we were planning to get married and a lot commented that they got super excited when they scratched it and saw where we were having the wedding. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/81056/semi-diy-scratch-off-std-tutorial For invitations I did passports, but I wasn't crafty enough to make me own so I bought them. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/79993/post-pictures-of-your-invitations/50#post_1824752 I LOVE your scratch off cards! Sooo amazing! I might just throw an event later in the future just to use that idea hahaha....
  8. Quote:Originally Posted by EVKnowsitall But this a thread about veils! LOL I have a cathedral length one! I absolutely love it. It has rhinestones along the edge and it frames my body and then it has rhinestones scattered throughout. I think it looks gorgeous in pictures. I also have a rhinestone headband so at the reception I will just lose the veil as others have suggested. I wanted a birdcage as well so when I had my courthouse legal wedding, I planned on wearing one but it looked a little funny on me so I got rid of it and just worse a simple white flower. But I found an awesome fascinator head band with a birdcage attachment and I'm wearing it to my bridal shower because we are having a grown up tea party- so I got to win all around lol. I say go with the veil at least for pictures. If you don't really care about the veil pick up a cheap one on Etsy, amazon, or Camille La Vie or any other dress shop. I think the combs in the hair are gorgeous as well. You cant go wrong- you are a bride and you will look beautiful no matter what. I have never seen an ugly bride... ok maybe once... but its rare. That cathedral length veil sounds beautiful! I really wanted one, but it didn't suit the dress - I ended up getting a 2 tiered raw edge walking length veil. It's very simple but I think it works. I was also considering a bird cage for pictures after but don't know if I wanted a head dress that distracting for all the pictures. I bought a hair flower with feathers and rhinestones but I don't think I'll use it after all, or maybe only where it for a little bit. Who knew hair pieces can be this confusing too!!
  9. Brides in Canada - where did you find your wire? I found some at Michaels, but they were ridiculously expensive. It would cost me any where from $20+ to make 1 hanger. Any suggestions?
  10. Quote:Originally Posted by Janelle0308 Hi everyone, So something I have been wanting from day 1 is videography of my wedding. Has anyone used a videographer at Grand Sirenis? If so, could you post a reply with a review and name of the videographer? thank you!! I've been looking into videographers as well. I have hired the photographer last year at Grand Sirenis after we got engaged to do some engagement photos. They were pretty terribly done. She also wasn't able to produce them in a timely matter (all they had to do was transfer the images on to a CD for us). There was no editing at all. We were able to buy the whole memory stick off of her because we had a flight to catch. And it was so not worth the money. But that said, I don't know if their videographer is any good. I wouldn't bet on it though, unfortunatley.
  11. The Bridal Party Attire I cannot wait to wear my dress!! But I'm not going to post photos of the dress because my fiance told me the other day he was on this website and saw some of my posts!! Hahaha... what a guy. Didn't know he was looking at this website too. But I can post my accessories and what the rest of the bridal party will be wearing My Accessories Every time I look at these studded Valentino babies I still swoon. I'm gonna wear them for the reception, but not for the ceremony because the ceremony is on the beach. And I'm gonna wear them again lots after the wedding. Love them! For the beach ceremony, I bought these simple sparkly wedges from Spring. They're actually perfect! They're comfortable, not too high but still gives me some height, and they were very inexpensive (especially compared to the pair above...lol) I beaded about 12 pairs of barefoot sandals. And made myself one similar to these but with light blue swarovski crystals mixed in with the pearls. These are my favourite accessory - they were a gift from my mom. I think they're perfect because the mother of pearl gives it a beautiful beach-wedding feel, and the design is Aztec and I think it's quite fitting given we're getting married on a resort with some original Mayan ruins still standing. I love how this clutch has a vintage feel to them. I have a giant phone (the Samsung note 2) and it fits! So I had to get it. It's from David's Bridal and was about $40. Groom My fiance will be wearing a full suit and tie (a blush colored tie, and pocket square), just for the ceremony and a few pictures, then he can take off the tie and jacket if he wants. Or he might get a vest as well to match the rest of the guys. It's up to him. But I picked out a really great suit for him. I think sexy has to be the only word to describe it... Bridesmaids For the girls, I wanted to find something light weight and that they'd wear again. I picked up some really cute and inexpensive dresses from F21 and used the rest of the money I budgeted on their outfits towards their gifts. I wanted to pay for their attire because they're already paying so much money to come to our wedding. I thought maybe if they wore a statement necklace it would be a little different than your traditional bridal party, so I picked up these necklaces from H&M for about $25 I also got 8 of these 'getting ready robes' for everyone - they're on sale right now from La Vie en Rose for like $8.99! I loved the floral ones I see off etsy, but I love these and the price tag it comes with! I bought the light grey with the light pink trim as they go perfectly with my wedding colors. I'm going to wear a blush kimono from VS. I got them a really nice gift and I cannot wait to give it to them. But I don't want to ruin the surprise by posting it here just in case they see the post. I'll post it after they receive it Groomsmen & my 'Man of Honour' Our gift to the guys is their suits. I shopped around a LOT and finally settled on this set from Express, and they were having a promo on every $50 spend, you receive $10 gift card or something like that so it helped. The guys probably won't be wearing a tie, but I'm going to get a white pocket square for everyone. For footwear, all the boys will be rockin these Toms. Everyone loves them! Ring Bearers We don't have any flower girls, and my fiance has 2 adorable nephews. They're going to be wearing grey pants, a white linen shirt, a newsboy cap from zara, and a pink and white stripe bow tie and black suspenders. I don't have a picture of them in their outfits, but it's similar to this cutie pie here.
