Hey DonDon- We are the same date and each with 30 people---think we should take over the night club?

Just found out I have over 60 room nights so I get a free 2 hr event. We were originally going to do a cocktail hour, now we are extending it to a 3 hr buffet/music event. We are doing the complimentary package. Does anyone know if they will provide any type of centerpiece or napkins for color? Ive heard conflicting reports

So it looks like its possible that we may have more than 30 people (maybe up to 40). The restaurant reservation is only for 30. Do you think they can accommodate or will I be forced to have a buffet?

Thanks guys. I also dont want to dictate anyone's vacation, but at the same time I dont them to feel they dont get time with us either. Next question...anyone have links to the buffet menus for the reception. I know its here somewhere:)

So-turns out Im having 25-30 people come to the wedding. The wedding is on Friday, most people are coming Thursday until Sunday or Monday. Other than the ceremony, cocktail party and dinner/dancing....I was going to try to plan a golf outing and maybe a Cancun day. Is that enough? Do I need a welcome dinner/rehearsal? Or do I need activities daily. I dont want to impose on their vacations or make them feel like they have to stick with us the entire weekend. But I dont want to have an incohesive weekend and have people feel ignored. Opinions?

Ive been to MP several times. There is a lot of seagrass in the water that washes ashore. They do their best to clean it up daily with a truck. Not many people get in the water-but some do, myself included. Sometimes there is more grass than other times. That said-you can always take the resort bus to downtown Cancun for the day and stay at the Beach Palace (which is worth a trip no matter what). The water there is a beautiful blue with lots of waves. Despite not getting in the water-I still chose MP for my October 2013 wedding as there is so much more to do there, including golf. There are also soooo many bars and restaurants and the service is outstanding! I also liked that it is not in the hotel zone, but a little more private-while still being so close to the action.

Thanks-Im already members of both facebook groups:) Its amazing what you can find when you go looking! I was a little bummed because originally I wanted 4pm on the 12th but by the time I sent back the request (TWO days after the phone conversation with palace) that day was GONE except for 11am. The next best thing was Friday or Monday at 2pm. But in the long run-the day and time are just little details! Im hoping for a beach wedding. If not-well-again its just a little detail:)

No. I signed the contract but my guy at Palace said you dont get to choose options or venues until you start chatting with your WC 90days before the wedding. I just chose the complimentary package. This is my 2nd wedding, my h2b's first so Im going for simple. No fuss-no muss. I'll have a couple of things in a goody bag for guests (maybe 20 people?) but really Im going with resort decor. Whats more gorgeous than a beach-who needs frills? So I will probably just have a cocktail hour after photos, then go to dinner, then dancing. No private reception for me. How about you? What time is your wedding? Mine's at 2pm. hmmmm....I wonder if we could "share" some fireworks
