I believe it is now 2500$, I'm expecting 50-70 guests so a privTe reception made the most sense. I chose outdoor for the main reason that I can have an indoor reception anywhere right? Lol -

I meant the dinner, we are having a dinner/reception (6:30pm-10:30pm) at the piscis... You can rent the venues out for private receptions -

Any Gran Bahia Principe Runaway Bay Brides out there?

I agree with the price bumping and I'm not impressed, but glad I've kept records of everything I was quoted. They want me to pay a 250$ vendor fee to have rashel Edwards do my make-up, however I emailed the spa and they do not offer airbrush makeup like rashel... So now I'm waiting for a response from the co-ordinaries as to why they want a vendor fed for services they do not offer! -

When I booked they quoted me 1700$ for my October 2014 wedding. In future emails a new coordinator said it was now $2500, I kindly copied the previous emails stating I booked it at 1700 and they honoured it. -

I chose Jamaica because it is easier to get legally married. No document translations or blood tests required. Also I've been to Jamaica before and loved it. Good luck!

I remember this story, turned out not to be his. Unfortunately there were a few other young boys that were potential fathers... The question is where are her parents!

Yea I don't get how they think they can charge a vendor fee for a service they don't offer. In my opinion if your going to charge a vendor fee the services offered by you better be damn good lol The Bahia seems to be charging extreamly high fees compared to every other resort as if to force you into using thier vendors which they must know aren't highly rated (photographers) I'm going to casually email the spa for a price list, ask if they do air brush, and with multiple weddings a day how many people can they handle from each wedding for services. I have a feeling thier answers will help me get rid of the vendor fee lol -

Anyone else using/used Rashel Edwards? I'm only using her for makeup as my bridesmaid is a stylist. The resort wants to charge me a $250 vendor fee. My problem with this is I don't believe the spa provides air brushing so why am paying a vendor fee for a service they themselves don't offer. Also I have a wedding party of 5 girls, and my mother being looked after by Rashel and her stylist (this I know could be argued why I should be charged the vendor fee) BUT I have 4 or 5 guests who want hair and makeup done and are making reservations with the spa. Surely the spa can't handle hair and makeup for at least 11 people, so does anyone agree that I'm not crazy if I ask for that fee to be waived because A. No airbrushing at the spa and B. the spa is still getting a "wedding party" sized booking from my guests -

Hey! I've done quite a bit of research on the piscis as I too am having my reception there. If you look at areciffe photography's Facebook (the resort photographer) they have pics of receptions there. Also found this video a long time ago and is what made me want to get married at the resort, the too had the outdoor reception; http://vimeo.com/m/38295110 -

CristalyneAnkit, The difference between the piscis and the a la cartes is the piscis is not open at night, you are not taking it away from guests. I assume that is why the always charged 1700$ not the full $2500 that comes along with shutting down a restaurant for you. And that's going to be my argument along with I confirmed the price upon reservation and that is what I'm paying lol -

That sucks that its the owner! If you really want to complain afterwards and not sure of the best option marlin travel is owned by the TDC (transat distribution company, also own transat holidays and nolitours) so you could possibly complain to them because I'm sure they'd like to know about a franchisee. Hopefully they pull up their socks and blow you away but if not there's options lol *i don't have a hate on for marlin at all, I just hate seeing people get poor services (feel like it gives using a travel agent a bad rap lol) i actually am an outside agent for an agency that owns another office which I worked in that is a marlin travel and the agents there are fabulous -

I forgot one more thing lol My fiancé and I are actually legally getting married this October 23rd (I unfortunately am very sick and he is in the military so being married makes life easier especially in an emergency should he need to return to be with me) so the wedding will be our anniversary but were not telling anyone so shhhhh Anyways in order to have a symbolic ceremony I have to prove I'm married with a copy of my marraige liscence, does anyone find that odd? So sorry for my long rant I'm just frustrated because I thought I had my budget worked out and all my ducks in a row lol -

So I'm a bit upset, I have always been quoted the 1700$ for the outdoor reception, now they want 2500$ for my October 2014 wedding. Also I'm going to ask about this but the romance package includes 1 hour of cocktails and canapés, I asked what was served and I was sent a PDF with options but at a per person cost, I really hope they don't "include" it then charge a per person fee. There is also a vendor fee for me hiring Rashel Edwards, will update on how much that's going to cost. I have many guests getting hair and makeup done at the spa so they are definitely not losing business. I'm interested to see everyone's experience with the romance package. They also told me the guaranteed upgrade is related to room location and view, NOT an upgrade to don Pablo. I thought if bring those to everyone's attention cuz I'm a bit pissed off lol Everyone seems to get different info, I was also told that the included live music is the steel band so I'm happy about that. -
I worked as a travel agent and in my own personal travel experience and those of my clients, sunwing/signature (they are the same company) are horrible. I will not book them, you can expect delays and changed flights. I love westjet however I find they overprice. I have had good experiences with air transat and surprisingly air canada vacations. I plan to use ACV for my wedding. Hope this info helps Also for those wanting to get married at a riu property you have no choice but sunwing as they hold exclusivity and no other carriers sell it

It's pretty much structured in the sense that you deal with Absolute Wedsite who will be your wedding planners and they book your flights and rooms through their Mother Company, Marlin Travel and take care of everything else for you like a wedding planner. The only problem is they really don't do much more than booking your ceremony time and in my case didn't even book that correctly! They tell you to deal with them directly instead of the Resort which is a complete waste of any Brides time since nothing actually gets done. Even the agents at Marlin for the flights and rooms haven't gotten back to my guests who emailed and called 3 months ago! I'm equally disappointed in Marlin Travel and Absolute Wedsite as both divisions of the company do not do their jobs as expected. I'm just happy I saw this all well in advance of my wedding and not days before. :S I think the planners at the resort are fabulous and they're much more experienced having 4-5 weddings a day and I strongly urge all Brides to go this route as it's so much more stress-free! I never thought about filing a complaint against Absolute and Marlin, I don't even know where I would complain any suggestions? Thanks for the well wishes! I'm so sorry that your having trouble like that! I'm not familiar with Absolute Wedsite so I cannot over advice there but in regards to Marlin Travel, locations are either privately owned franchise or a corporately owned office. Regardless there should be a manager or possibly a owner that you can forward your experience and dissatisfaction onto. Perhaps in regards to travel plans you can ask for another "less busy" agent that will respond to your guests in a more timely manner.
