  1. You can try Marg at Marville Travel...she if fantastic with a wealth of knowledge and experience...she can be reached at 1-800-461-0473 and you can check out their website at http://www.marville.com/ ! She will take good care of you and your group!
  2. We initially budgeted $10,000 (not including our rings) but that didn't include a professional photographer. Now we have decided on taking our own photographer and DJ however, both haven't done destination weddings and we got them dirt cheap so they can use our wedding to form part of their portfolio. Our budget has now increased to just over $12,000.
  3. I bought all the groomsmen these sandals at Walmart for $10 ...they too are wearing linen pants
  4. We did these as well...I ordered 25 for my female guests and the wedges for me :-)
  5. We want to wait until our wedding ceremony in Cuba to wear our rings. That's the date we'll be using for our anniversary...in fact, we are not even exchanging vows on the date we sign the legal document. It is simply going to be just that, signing a document with witnesses.
  6. We too are going to do the legal paper work at my home in Ontario about 2 weeks prior. We are just signing the documents without any words being exchanged and having 2 friends here to witness it. However, my officiant will be travelling with us to Cuba to perform the symbolic ceremony there and he will complete all the paperwork in Cuba. As long as we exchange our vows down only at the ceremony in Cuba, that is what we will use as our anniversary date. The other date is just a formality!
  7. oops, I meant I Googled Images "wedding at Blau Marina"...so if someone googles wedding images of your specific resort, your picture may show up. If you would like it removed, you may want to click on the red flag and report it to the administrator....sorry for the unfortunate news.
  8. Hey ladies....careful about posting your picture here...I went to pictures of the resort where I am getting married, and the picture of me in my dress showed up. If anyone knows how to delete a picture from here, i would appreciate the guidance. I really don't want any of my guests to see that picture. Thanks
  9. We're getting married on the beach at the Blau Marina Varadero in Cuba. They set up the white chairs and I'm bringing the sashes. I chose this resort over teh Iberostar as they only do ONE wedding per day. I've heard and rad that the Iberostar Laguna will do 3 per day and I didn't want to feel rushed...yada yada. Two of my family members have been to Blau Marina before and said it was a good resort, the staff was super friendly and the nightly entertainment is great! The wedding co-ordinator has sent me photographs of the what the beach looks like decorated as well as the reception hall. Also, a friend of mine who is a flight attendant, said that she too has been there and they are continously improving (under new ownership) and that she recommends it. She also said that given we will be the only wedding that day, we will be treated like Royalty (which I really appreciate, given that we have 78 people attending). I asked for a beach party with bon fire, dancers and music for our last night there and the WC and management has agreed...Here are some pictures. This is what the arch looks like ...they still use it but now have covers on the chairs.
  10. I agree completely! Their loss! My parents aren't going to mine (albiet this is my 2nd marriage)...their excuse is that they don't like to travel...oh well, I say.....I'm not going to change my mind...My 23 year old son will be the one giving me away. I'm going with 78 friends and family and having a fantastic celebration! I don't feel any guilt...People need to respect the fact that it's not their occassion...they either can come or chose not to but shouldn't judge you for your choices. This is an excellent opportunity to travel with friends and family and I'm going to have a blast!!!!! It's my day or should I say week! LOL Midsummerbride: Do what YOU want to do! It's your special day and as long as your FI is okay with your choice, that's all that matters....go to Scotland, just the 2 of you alone if you have to!!
  11. Thanks ....we have about another 25 people who RSVP'd that they plan on attending but were not able to commit to the "group booking". So we are expecting about 100 in total...which really surprises me (I had anticipated and budgeted for 40 people). I am literally moved by everyone wanting to be part of our special day. That being said, I know that my fiance and I have been through so much together in the last 17 years and had such great support from our friends. He has a daughter from his first marriage, I have a son from my first marriage and then we had a daughter together. Shortly after she was born, my sister was killed in a car accident and we adopted her 3 children. So we've been soooo busy raising the 6 children that we didn't make the time to get married (nor did we have the money with all the kids to feed, lol). Along the way, we learned the Art of Marriage and we know that we can get through anything, as long as we are together. We love eachother more each passing day! I can't wait to marry my best friend and celebrate with 100 of my closest friends! BTW, I really like the idea about having a dinner with just the family members that were not able to attend.
  12. Here is one that was a big hit at a friend's reception...I love that it involves the guests: The groom and 5 male guests line up and the blindfolded bride (with the help of her MOH) has to squeeze each guys bicep, then pick which one is her groom. The bride and 5 female guests line up-- the blindfolded groom (with the help of his Best Man) has to sniff the neck of the bride and ladies and pick out his bride's scent.
  13. There are some great suggestions in this thread! I'm still very confused. So far we have 78 guests attending our wedding in Cuba in November 2013. We are having a Jack and Jill in September, 2013 with games and prizes to raise money to help pay for the excursion for our destination guests (we rented a catamaran and going snorkelling and swimming with the dolphins). We will be inviting everyone that was invited to the wedding to this Jack/Jill so my FI is totally against the AHR. He thinks that everyone who isn't going to the wedding will have the opportunity to come celebrate with us at the Jack/Jill and also, most of our closest friends/family will be at the wedding. However, my parents will not be able to attend the DW (they are not travellors) and his sisters (teachers) will also not be able to attend the DW, but otherwise, he is correct...all our other close family and friends will be there. Just not sure if we should have a AHR or not? I would love to hear some suggestions/opinions.
  14. I ordered them from ebay for $3.99 each. If you don't have an ebay account, the company name is Jubilee Creative Studio and the email address is: [email protected]
  15. I agree you don't require a formal seat arrangements. You could however, if you feel like you need to do something, you can make a sign that says something along the lines..."Today 2 families become one so pick a seat, not a side".
  16. Started working on the OOT bags.....labelling and organizing. We ironed on all our Rhinestone Jewellery on our t-shirts, including 25 "Bridal Entourage" but they came out so good! We also tagged them with a note that reads: Template below and a photograph. Labelled all the flip flops with "A Treat for Your Dancing Feet" ....template below Created a Personalized Wedding Activity Book, that has all personalized "Word Search" puzzles. The website to create the puzzles is http://tools.atozteacherstuff.com/word-search-maker/wordsearch.php...here is a pic of the cover page. let me know if you are interested in the template Made a personalized colouring book ....here are a couple of the pages... We bought some small t-shirts at Walmart for the flowergirl and ringboy for $5 each and then handpainted them. Came out pretty good And finally, we created a Do Not Disturb sign Phew, enough for this weekend....glad we got so much accomplished and like how things are turning out. I have template available, if anyone wants them.
