Danita, That was extremely helpful, thank you! I should have clarified that the 2600 dollars was per couple therefore it is 1300 dollars per person for the five nights and flight included for Paradisus Punta Cana resort. You are such a good negotiator, I need to take note:) We already have a date and location which is October 26, 2013 at PPC in the nova garden. But after struggling with the travel cost and agents I felt that I may have picked a very expensive destination spot:(( -

DP1andDP2, Thank you so much for sharing the information about the deposit transfer. I am so nervous about the cost for our guest in reserving PPR. I spoke with a travel agent today and she wanted me to sign a group contract but my guest would have to pay for the flight seperately and it didn't seem like it was going to be a good deal for our guest (money wise). I did talk to a travel agent in Omaha Ne which is local for us and she will book flight and rooms as a package deal and the guest only have to put down an initial 300 dollar deposit and then they can continue to make payments as they want but full deposit is due 60days prior to the wedding. She was quoting me approximately 2600 dollars for 5 nights and flight. Agghhh, i am over this whole process and feel like I am in a total time crunch as we are only giving our guest approximately 9 months notice:( -

Asia, thank you, thank you, thank you! Your review and expertise was beyond helpful and reassuring!. Thank you soooooo much! I really appreciate all the insight. -
Ps. That is so crazy you used Cindy as your TA! I was referred to her by Theresa and apparently she must have her own company now called my forever honeymoon:) I was a little worried because she does rooms and gets group rates and contracts but I figured my guest may save more money booking the room and flight as a package deal and I thought that the resort may not give the best rates to wedding guests because they know they can get way with charging more. It seems like whenever a hotel or resort knows there is a wedding prices sky rocket!

I am so sorry I some how missed this post. I am not sure how to really use this site! I guess after seeing pictures I just liked the outside pool area better i figured I would use the banquet location if there were rain and if it were available! I think the pool area can accommodate up to 100 or more people:). I have booked Katya for our wedding and I am so excited. She emailed me saying that she would just be a guest at my wedding and I only need to purchase her a room get around the outside photographer fee:)

Ok, ladies I'm having another panic attack, please bear with me. I have recently paid the deposit for reserving the date of October, 26, 2013 for our wedding day. After doing average weather comparisons for that time of year I began to think I just planned the worst vacation for our guest. So, ANYONE who can shed some light on the weather at the end of October PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE let me know what to expect. When doing my research it indicated that the average weather was 50% overcast and between 79-88 degrees and rains 49% of the time. I hope we able to enjoy the weather, pools, beach and golf and hope that I didn't just pick the worst time of the year to go:( -

Can anyone recommend a good travel agent that they have come in contact with? Did the travel agent deal with flights too?? Also does anyone know if children have to be considered in the room fee? -
As i get further into the planning process more questions arise! Can anyone recommend a good website for travel information etc for our guests? Any recommendations on beautiful yet affordable invitations? Did you put travel information etc in the invitation (my cousin who also had a destination wedding had a formal invite and then included a page of travel information etc) with it or does it work better to direct people to a web site. last question for now anyway... does anyone have any recommendations on a good travel agent or company to handle the room reservations etc? Thank you girls for all of your advice and help with this daunting process! -Katie

Hi Asia, I am mostly concerned about the reviews that I have read regarding the "cleanliness" of the rooms and the "terrible" food experienced at PPC. I wanted a Garden wedding so PPC appealed more to me at first but now all I keep reading is negative reviews regarding the resort in general. We also have children in the group and was not sure as to which resort would be more "kid friendly". I guess I just want it to be an amazing experience for our guests and its so challenging planning a wedding in country I have never visited:( Any insight on the resorts is greatly appreciated. -Katie -

Ev- Thank you so much for your advise! I am fretting:( I think both are probably beautiful for sure however, I wanted a luxurious experience for my guests and also a party environment and was pursuaded to go with PPC when in my gut I felt like I should have went with PPR. We are schedule now for our wedding at PPC on October 26, 2012 in the Nova Garden with a our reception at the pool side terrace. I think it will be beautiful but then I read a ton of reviews about dirty hotel rooms and terrible food:( I wanted to check with my TA before booking but my wedding planner had me paranoid that I would lose the date if I didn't act immediately as I wanted to price check the two hotels. There will be a lot of children attending our wedding as well (my nieces and nephews) and I was told which I am not 100% certain it was the truth, that PPC was a bit more child/ family friendly. I am calling my travel agent first thing in the morning to see what the price difference is and then will contact my wedding coordinator. We need to get save the dates out ASAP so i need to settle the date! I am sad though, because last time I checked there was no Saturdays available at PPR in October. I really love GABI Beach at PPR but do not want to pay the ridiculous price. See, I am frantic, I can't even gathat all my thoughts;( Sorry for rambling. Again thank you for your help! Katie -

Ok ladies I need your help! I am having a serious anxiety attack, I booked our wedding at Paradisus Punta Cana last week for October 26, 2012 but now I am thinking I should have gone with my gut feeling of PPR. The only reason I didn't was the expense:( I have never been to either resort but after reading reviews I think that PPR is probably much better. I feel sick to my stomach. I am curious as to why you all have picked PPR over PPC. My travel agent sort of "convienced" me into PPC as she said the that newly renovated rooms and nightlife were actually better than those at PPR. I am a total mess as I have already paid my 500 dollar deposit and am having serious second thoughts. Can anyone shed some light on the different resorts. It is so hard making this decision "in the dark" without having seen them for myself. We also have some children going and not sure which resort is better for younger families. Please help! -

Hey ladies! I am seriously having an anxiety attack! I reserved a wedding date at paradisus punta cana on october 26, 2013. I initially want to have my wedding at PPR but felt like I had been talked out of it by a wedding photographer and our wedding planner due to pricing etc and now I am having second thought and thinking I should have went with my gut feeling of PPR:( I am so sad bc I have already paid the 500 dollar non refundable fee to reserve our date. I keep reading a million resort reviews and many rate PPR#1 and Plc #33:(. My wedding planner insisted that the newly renovated rooms at PPR are beautiful and that the resort had a little more to offer regarding night life etc. can anyone shed some light on my concerns? I am also wondering if the 500 dollar deposit can be transferred to PPR IF WE DECIDED to switch since its the same resort chain! This whole processes is soooooo stressful especially since I have not personally visited either resort! Help please ladies!!! -
Maridr: Awww I was going to say if you are not in a career that requires you to plan or be highly organized then girl, you missed your calling;) I am not always the most organized but I am definetly a prefectionist that can be a faut as well which makes this process so daunting, so again thank you for all of your help in the process in planning my destination wedding, it is very much appreciated. I have been talking to Theresa and you are correct, she does know all the ends and outs of the resorts! I am currently filling out the paper work to save the date of October 26, 2012 (a Saturday, YEAH!!!). We are currently plannign on the Garden for the ceremony and Theresa wanted me to have the cocktail hour in the garden as well. I am struggling to invision this as I don't want the ceremony site to be cluttered with cocktail tables etc and have that distraction during the ceremony. Do you by chance know how the site is laid out and organized for Ceremony/cocktail?? Theresa also has me booked for the pool terrace for our reception site. I love all of the photos of the pool terrace and how it is organized for a reception however like you, my group is ready to PARTY and I am a little worried how the dancing etc will go as it appears to be limited in room. I feel so overwhelmed and almost rushed in making a final decison on reception/cocktail locations. Theresa keeps reassuring me that the document that I sign is not official as regards to my location sites and that changes can be made after I pay the 500 dollars to reserve my date. However, I am so nervous that it will be final and I would rather have it all documented correctly from the get go! Thereasa is also recommending that I use the resorts photographer vs. paying an outside vendor fee of $1,000 (ridiculous) anyway, I personally would rather pay a little extra money and have pictures I love as they will last a lifetime. I have not yet looked into HDC photography as ****Nova is the only site I had originally scoped out, so I will be adding that to my to-do list!!! Bummer on the $1,000 fee though! One last thing, for now anyway:) I am so interested in the bridal suite for the wedding day. Did you reserve that with your date or is there more than one available as I am nervous that another wedding party is goint to beat me to the punch! Ahhhh, so many questions and so little time:( I hope it all works out! I feel like once I get the paper work in I can breath and relax for a little bit anyway!

I was going to say, if you are not working in some career where you need to plan or be ultra organized than you are missing your calling girl! I am no so much as organized as you are but I am definitely a perfectionist and seem to be very indecisive! I am begun the planning process at PPC with Theresa finally!!! I felt so much better about the process following all of your amazing advice, so again THANK YOU!!!! I am am currently in the processes of filling out the paperwork and down payment for October 26, 2013... which is a Saturday, yea!!! But very nerve wracking! I am hoping for the Garden location of the ceremony and then Theresa wanted me to book the same area for the cocktail portion but Im not sure how i feel about that as I don't want my guest and myself to be able to see the table set up etc as we are sitting and performing the ceremony. Do you have any suggestions on the set up etc or what to expect? I just can't imagine how it will look. Also, she currently has me booking the pool Terrace for our reception but I don't know if I should book the ball room or if you have heard anything about Gabi Beach. Our guests will be ready to party until the wee hours and all love to dance and I didn't know which area would best accamodate us:) I tried to call to book Gabi Beach initially but the person who I spoke to worked for the Miami company and she told me it wasn't ever available for wedding receptions, I am thinking I was misinformed. I know I am full of questions and realize you may not have the answers but your expertise is much appreciated:)!!! Thank you again for all of your help during this process:)

Maridr, Thank you so much for your quick response. I have been reading practically every review on this forum and YOU have been SOOOO HELPFUL! I feel you have been a God sent and should probably take up a career in wedding planning. Your information has been above and beyond:) Your wedding was absolutely beautiful, I love your classic taste! I actually decided to have a destination wedding in the DR after coming across a photographers blog, ***** Nova, and the weddings she has photographed have been breathtaking. Most of the weddings she has photographed were held at PPR though. I am feeling a bit rushed and crunched for time in this planning process as we had originally had been planning a wedding in Mexico and have recently switched to the DR after reading a million reviews. Do you know the difference in the night life between the PPC and PPR? The dates we were considering were based on the PPC and were October 25(Friday) and 27(Sunday) 2013. I originally had my heart set on a Saturday wedding in the Garden only because I thought there maybe more to do to keep the party going after the reception. I seriously wish I could hire you to plan this wedding:) I was talking and considering hiring Theresa from barefoot bride but didn't really want to pay the $900 plus after reading all these reviews it seems most of the brides have had good luck planning it by themselves. Aggghhh I am sorry about the novel, I just have a million thoughts and much anxiety and stress consuming me! Thank you again for all of your help and detailed information on this blog, you have been a life saver!

Hey ladies!! I am in the process of planning a destination wedding in the Dominican Republic and keep tossing between PPC and PPR as the resort options. My Fiance and I have been engaged since September 2011 and we are so over the planning process as we have had a lot of resistance from family members regarding the decision to do a destination wedding. With that being said we are buckling down and being a bit selfish I suppose and hammering down a date!!! We are hoping for the end of October or early November. We have never been to the DR and do not know what month would be better. We are loving the pictures of a wedding in the Gardens. We are hoping for feedback on the resort, date, and ceremony/reception locations and ideas also the pros and cons of PPR vs. PPC. We feel so hopeless thus far and would love your input!

Hi all! I have been attempting to plan a destination wedding in Punta Cana and am struggling to choose a resort but am going back and forth between Paradisus Punta Cana and Paradisus Palma Real. I have also struggled and have drove myselft nuts on determing the month to Wed as I am VERY CONCERNED about the Heat and humdity levels...we have talked about the 2nd week in June or July or even October. Also, If we do choose June or July is 7-8 month notice too little notice for a destiantion wedding. Agghhhh so many factors to consider. . Please, please please any advice is much appreciated! We have been engaged since September 2011 and are so ready to have our wedding and be married;)
