Hi @@rebecca90 My Palace wedding planner contacted me a couple weeks after my wedding contract was completed. Then when I scheduled a site visit, the on site WC contacted me. My WC told me that I won't work with her again until about 3mos before the wedding. In the mean time I will wowkr with the wedding planner to schedule vendors and plan out my wedding day. HI @stephygirl Congrats and best of luck next month! I'm sure everything will go well. As for as the fee, my WC told me that all private events are charged $55pp unless you earn free events. With 60+ rooms you earn one 2hour private function. Maybe they applied that to your reception. You have to have 75+ nights to get 3 hours of free events each day. Hope this helps! Oh and I have a question for you - your wedding PO - does it include your vendors as well or do you pay them separately? What vendors did you choose? Thanks.

I have the costs from Dream Art but want to compare it to others that might do a better job and offer more. Any suggestions? Thanks. One more thing, how did you reach out to decor companies? I met with a couple when I went to BP and I guess they're waiting for me to send them ideas. Is that what you all did as well? My WC never did mention Latin Asia to me. Hmm I met with Zaray and she never said anything about a change. And no I didn't see anything in person, only photos. She had photos of it and so did Gama and both were brown.

@@Danielle1 Yes that's the one they showed me... and the decor companies have other color linens they can put on it as well (for a fee).

Hi Ladies @@jj575757 @@ABfutureSulli I was at Beach Palace a couple of weeks ago for my site visit. There was no gazebo up. I think they only put it up at the time of event. Also, when she showed me photos, it was the same chocolate bamboo structure as before. I met with Gama and Zuniga and they showed me different ways to decorate it. As far as guests who don't book with wedding group, yes you do have to pay the private event fee for them. The way they see it is that if you earn a free event because of your wedding group room nights, then only those that contributed to those room nights qualify for that event. So those that book outside of the group aren't included and have to be paid for. I'm not sure how they would track that. I didn't ask. If you don't earn a free event, then you would have to pay say $55 per person private event fee (reception) for all of your guests, whether in the group or not. Hope this helps. Thanks.

I started out with Abril as my planner but have been communicating with Zaray about my site inspection. I'm pretty sure Zaray is my WC. She's been very responsive and great to work with so far. There's only been a couple of times when she didn't fully answer my questions. Sorry you ladies are having troubles. Maybe they have a lot of Brides assigned to them.

Yes I'm very excited! I just scheduled a zip line/atv excursion so I'm excited about that too! I do have a cake tasting scheduled. I'm doing vanilla, strawberry and red velvet. I asked for a food testing too but she said I can only do that if I do a plated dinner... And that plated dinner is only available inside the ballroom. Anyone else told this? I want my reception out on the terrace so I guess no plated dinner for me. Did anyone meet with Gama and Zuniga during their site visit? Can you tell me how that went and how I should prepare for that? Thanks

@@RJE My guests and I are all staying at Beach Palace. They require you and 80% of the party to stay at the wedding hotel. When considering your guests, don't compromise too much. It's your day and ultimately the people who really want to come, won't mind paying an extra $200-300 to support you and stay at a great hotel. I think that as long as you give them ample time to do payment plan, things will be ok. Have you contacted a TA? I'm sure if you contacted Wright Agency and told them your budget and what you're looking for, they will help you. I've been working with them and so far they've been great (and patient with my indecisiveness). Best of luck with your search.

Did you check out the Palace resorts? Beach Palace and Moon Palace have nice non-beach options and are family friendly.

@@Wafflesmom Thanks and congrats to you as well. I did look at the Moon Palace in Jamaica but it's not open yet and I really didn't want to risk going to a newbie hotel. Plus, I didn't want the long drive from the airport in Montego Bay to Ocho Rios. On the shared shuttles, it takes 2-2.5 hours. And like I mentioned, Cancun is a lot safer and you get more for your money. In Ocho Rios the locals really harass you about buying things. And I really really really love the rooftop terrace at BP Well we both do.

Hello and Congrats! I'm in the process of doing a contract for April 2016 at Beach Palace. I was originally set on having our wedding in Jamaica, but I couldn't find a resort that had everything I wanted (non-beach venue) AND was kid-friendly. I love the rooftop venues at Beach Palace and the lovely beach. It has EXCELLENT reviews, is affordable, and I love that it's safe enough for you to leave the resort and walk around/ ride the bus (unlike Jamaica). Once we have a date locked in and rooms blocked, I'll start working on our website and STD's. I'm thinking about using paperless post.com for that and sending them out in April (a year's notice). I think we will send the invitations in the fall. Family and friends seem to be very excited about our destination wedding so we're expecting a good turn out, but you never know. We will have at least 30 people for sure. I see that some of you ladies are very on top of things. My mindset is "but I have so much time to do that"! I'm sure the time will past fast though. Y'all will be my motivation to plan things early. Happy Planning!

Hi Ladies, Thanks for the input. I ended up changing locations. While I love the culture of Jamaica, I just couldn't find a venue that I loved. We've decided on Beach Palace in Cancun. They have a lovely rooftop venue fits our personalities and styles perfectly. We're happy with our choice and are now in process of choosing date and doing a contract.
