  1. oh ya for sure if you are doing grass then do the flats , I totally would too! ....Where are you getting married?
  2. hahaha--totally worse! I'm freaking again...my aunt told me yesterday -" all that matters is you both being there...you could get married in your bathing suit if need be, if you forget something or a little detail is over looked dont stress -your at a beach and anything goes" ..LOL...not my ideal situation but really we are only one person and can only do so much lol.... I also just remembered that I need to get a wedding guest book, the sand ceremony thing, the memorial candle and do seating chart, and pack for him, I and 2 kids....GOD HELP ME. We need to stop talking about everything there is left to do. I am going to write down every night 1 -2 things I need to accomplish by end of day every day til the wedding. That should help get things done, not sure if you are like me but all of sudden when it all seems overwhelming I procrastinate --making it even worse! LOL ...so one day and 1 task at a time for the next few weeks LOL

  8. Hey Danielle03, So we just booked out Honeymoon this week, so we are staying for another 5 nights. We originally thought of staying in Negril for the second week but seeing as Ocho Rios is on the opposite end I wasn't really in favor of wasting so much of the extra 5 nights traveling 2.5hrs to get to the new resort....and then having to leave early on the day we leave early ....so we decided to stay at the Sandals Royal Carribean in Montego Bay...we are super excited -the place is beautiful. I used all the Airmiles I had to pay for 1 of us, and paid the cash for the second. I really wanted to have a place with no children and that was quiet and Honeymoon like I figured after a week of partying with so many at the Riu the quiet and relaxation is what we needed before going home Sandals has deals even if you book directly with them right now and they have soooo many resorts in Jamaica. Good luck!
  9. Hi Yassy, Sorry I am so late in replying - I am going absolutely crazy between work and finalizing the wedding details! We are 7 weeks away and I still don't have florist, and whole lot of other things .....so I haven't been on here the last while. Those prices are for the 2hr reception as per Keisha's email to me. Let me know if there is anything else you need , I am always happy to help where I can Kerry
  10. YIKES!!! lol, I imagine it will be about the same from Orangeville, ON lol Thanks for the info...working on the budget now --which seems to be totally out of control
  11. Danielle03, you can do speeches but your not allowed music or a microphone in the semiprivate dinner. You are only there from 6:30-8:30 and it's really only your dinner. You have to pay for a private reception if you want anything longer then 8:30pm -- most people book either the poolside, the Disco, or have a bonfire on the beach as their private reception so they can do some traditional stuff ie/ first dances father/daughter dance/ speeches. The poolside and beach reception are $15pp (I think thats the cost) and that covers you having a bar tender and open bar at your private reception. At both the Beach and the Poolside private receptions though you either have to rent the microphone and music/sound equipment which is $200/hr or bring you could save the cost - I've heard of some people bringing their own docking station and ipod & microphone and using that. For the beach if you want the Bonfire you have to pay for it and its a couple of hundred dollars... or a popular private after dinner reception is renting the Disco for the 2hrs before it opens.... you get a DJ with the rental of the disco and the open bar & bar tender. Here's the costs; Disco Rental (1 –20 persons only US$500.00, 20 – 50 persons US$650.00 & 50 – 100 persons $ 1000.00) includes open bar, bartender and a DJ at 11:00 disco is open to the hotel public (except Tuesdays closed) Hope this helps!
  12. HI There, I am having a private dinner & reception so can prob help clarify for you - but your likely not gonna like the answer lol First of all if you are on Facebook I would encourage you to join the group Riu Ocho Rios Brides. It has some attachments you will find helpful. There are past and future brides on there -- most of which are on this site as well. It is my understanding that the $10.50pp for each person over your package is for semi-private dinners only. You need to have a specific amount of people staying at the resort which I believe is 80% of your total guests attending your wedding must be staying at the resort- it is a policy -- I believe you will see it in the package attachment on the FB group. (you should clarify this with Keisha though) . Here is the excerpt from the Riu Ocho Rios Wedding Guide (you can download from Riu site) The following are standarized policies that must be met, without exceptions, in order to perform a wedding at RIU Hotels & Resorts. Please be advised that unfullfillment of any of these policies might result in wedding cancelation. Therefore, we highly appreciate your cooperation and understanding. ï‚· For all weddings booked at RIU Hotels & Resorts, the wedding couple and 80 percent of the total number of guests must stay at the RIU Hotel where the wedding will be performed, otherwise it will be canceled. ï‚· DAY PASSES At the RIU Ocho Rios the cost of the day pass is $80.00 USD per adult and $40.00 USD per child. (Prices subject to change at any time without previous notice) ï‚· Couples must respect the arrival date, they have to arrive at least 2 full business days before the wedding (not counting Sundays and the Arrival day). Keisha advised me that ALL weddings that have over 40 people are FORCED to have a private dinner - the semi-private is not an option. The cost is $67 pp - doesn't matter if the $10.50pp is in your package you will not get back a credit for those alot. and that cost is for the Poolside, ballroom or beach or Plantations Restaurant. There is a setup cost of $600 also - with the exception of the Plantation Restaurant. This includes dinner and open bar. Side Note: a lot of people that do have a Private dinner end up going with the "FREE Package" because it's not useful to have the other upgraded package anymore- you can upgrade your suite for less with your travel agency and the free tshirts just aren't worth it LOL Music -- you can either have a DJ at $300/hr or rent the equipment -micrphone and ipod hookup for $200/hr ...YES IT"S INSANE to rent equipment for that! and if you are having a private dinner & reception technically your renting them for 4 hours ---otherwise you won't have a microphone for speeches or a any music during dinner. Unless you bring a ipod docking station. I am currently outsourcing a offsite DJ right now...to see if it's any cheaper but I doubt it if they have to pay a vendor fee for coming into the resort of $200 All receptions end at 10:30pm ...doesn't matter if it's poolside, plantation, beach, ballroom, or disco. any other questions pls feel free to ask Congrats and welcome to the forum )
  13. LOL, I did the same and then finally she answered me after 3 emails asking for a response and 3 weeks later --but it was only because my photographer I hired happens to know her and called her and asked her to get back to me LOL ....I love my photographer already!! Good luck!
  14. MrsHK...man do I wish you could give the speel to my FI sister and family Apparently people have lost sight of the fact that this is our wedding....it's honestly ridiculous how people make it all about them, or feel they should have a say ....Thanks for the reassurance ---even if you were giving it to another Bride it helps me to remember that I shouldn't care so much about what others feel (FI sister stopped talking to us and turned down every invite with respect to the wedding...my shower, Jack & Jill etc..) ..his entire family isn't coming to the wedding which is a hard pill to swallow. Disappointing to say the least. Sometimes I wish I wasn't such a people pleaser ...it make planning this wedding alot easier LOL
  15. LOL, I am in the same position, I still have everything you have left to do and then some!!! I actually felt like I was reading my list of To Do's --so thank you for putting my mind at ease! LOL...and trust me I've had such a short engagement ---only got engaged Nov 16th but I am DYING for the planning to be over and to be there already partying with everyone!!! hahahaha so I'm thinking that's pretty much all of us when you get so close to the end...I'm just tired of it taking up all my thoughts and waking spare moment LOL
  16. Hey Danielle03, there really is no "Free" package ....the package is $500 and covers the minister and marriage documents/certificate. That's what I have right now as well
  17. Thanks Danielle03! I'll check it out Good luck!

  19. kalolaco, I have booked the poolside private dinner and reception...do you happen to know if the entertainment at night is near this location or would be disruptive from what you could see/hear? Thanks!!
  20. Thanks so much! I definitely need to get on this sooner then later. Music is important to keep the party going asn seeing as I am already paying for a private dinner & reception I think its important to have great music
