  1. So I've been told that apparently, Arrecife Studios and GBP has the same owner, which is why they somewhat want to force you into using their services as well. The 5-day rule is correct, as confirmed for me as well. When you bring in local photographers, Arrecife will actually ask your photographer to go into their office and sign a paper to say that if they want to photograph weddings on the GBP, they will HAVE to inform their bride and groom of the 5-day rule. So the local photographers dont like photographing at that resort.
  2. Your pictures are amazing! and OMG im in LOVE the TTD pictures!! Congratulations!!
  3. Oh boy! That sounds like a very exciting and VERY BUSY year ahead of you, but in such a good way!! Congrats!!
  4. I will probably do that and contact the resort. I was just anxious because that's what the resort was telling me, which I thought was weird since so many brides here have used outside photographers. I would be booking them to stay as guests (whether or not they can stay the whole 3 or 5 nights, that's fine) I would've booked whatever nights it requires to have them as the photographer instead. Thanks for the suggestions ladies. I will let you guys know how this goes.
  5. Yeah, the photographers from Photos in Cancun are actually personal friends of my bridesmaid and we wanted to use their services. They were originally from Toronto, Canada, and we would've invited them to the wedding anyways to come attend and spend some time with my bridesmaid. Now I'm not sure what to do.
  6. OK. I'm really not too happy about that, because they did not mention no outside photographers to me when I booked. If I knew that was the case, I would've picked another locations, as my photos are really important for me. I have a lot of relatives in HK that cannot attend the wedding and the photos are the only way they can share the experience with us. **I'm the first one in the family of my generation getting married, so it's kinda a BIG deal to them** Any other brides getting married in 2013 that has been able to negotiate their way out of using Arrecife?
  7. Any brides getting married mid-year or later 2013 that has booked their photographers? I was just contacted by the resort and was told I'm not allowed to have outside photographers, even if I book 5-nights stay for them. Is this true? I'm freaking out because I REALLY don't want to use the resort photographer.
  8. I really like the sepia one. You look gorgeous and I love the way the dress is flowing out behind you. You look amazing!!!
  9. I think it's on the other Gran Bahia Principe thread. Someone posted this one, and was told it was the latest one. CATALOGO SAC NAH flores novias.pdf
  10. Congrats on the engagement! I'm using this website called Destinationweddings.com and the travel agent assigned to me works in the KW area. Her name is Shelley Elkas, and she's been amazing so far. You can check out the website, and when you request, you can let them know that I've mentioned she's from the area and it would be helpful for you. Happy planning!
  11. Congratulations Christy! You looked amazing, and we're all glad to hear everything went smoothly for you. Can't wait to see more pictures and hear about your experience!
  12. @ Fraggle42, just curious which photographer you went with. I'm starting to get nervous now that the resort won't allow outside photographers because all their websites mention that Bahia Principe does NOT allow outside photographers. I hear from Tlseege that she has always been allowed to stay, but I'm still a little worried.
  13. So we can choose the wedding packages for legal weddings, even though we want a symbollic wedding only? Because I was told that the Unforgettable package is only for legal weddings, but I'm going to City Hall at home to do all the paper work since I didn't want to get that blood test in Mexico.
  14. Have tons of fun and best wishes on the wedding! This is so exciting!!
  15. Oh quick question: Any one did the symbollic wedding ceremony? I was wondering if we can give them the ceremony script ourselves, or do we have to use whatever they provide?
  16. You're a star! Yeah.. I'm always on the forum looking for ideas and information. It helps me refocus my energy so I don't freak out with the lack of responses from the WC, and I totally understand where they're coming from. My TA just spoke to me and told me they usually work on 3 month intervals and said that they will generally handle all brides that have wedding within the next 3 months before focusing on the other brides. So I'm just going to do some other digging around the forum for other ideas and start with the ceremony script and vows. THAT is going to take me forever!
  17. Yeah, I will have to take a look at the dresses I try on, and see if the veil will look good. I always thought I'd look more like a bride with the veil. The Tulum gazebo looked the best from the pictures I had seen so far, so I think I would prefer that over the Tulum beach, just because the beach location seemed a little too plain for my liking. Thanks for all your comments here. I noticed that you went back a couple pages to reply to everyone's posts! And super glad to hear that you had an amazing wedding! Congrats again!
  18. Oh sorry, I forgot to mention.. I did notice that they were setting up for a wedding the day that I was leaving. I remembered their was an arch being set up in the garden right beside the main buffet area, and they were setting up chairs as well. The arch looked really pretty from what I remembered. I didn't actually get to see the wedding though, but I'm sure they did a great job prepping for it.
  19. I'm not getting married there either, but I was just there this past April, and I really enjoyed my stay there. The nightly entertainment was actually quite fun. We went almost every night except for the night we had an excursion. One of the nights was couples' night, and my now FI and I actually participated in the show for the night. The staff there are truly amazing, very friendly. I never went to the disco as we were quite tired by the time the shows were over. I do remember that the food was really good. I might have pictures of some of the dishes we had there on my computer as well (if you want to see them). There was 2 buffets from what I remembered, and about 4-5 a-la-carte restaurants there (where you had to get up early in the morning to make reservations, which was a bummer). There was a Brazilian steakhouse that my FI really enjoyed cause it was a LOT of meat! There was a Thai resturant, a Japanese restaurant, and an Italian one as well. I barely stayed by the pool while I was there. The beach was pretty long and it was cleaned every morning from the seaweed. The chairs, I agree, were not the most comfortable. We ended up buying a floatie as well. Overall though, this resort was great and very accomodating from my memories. The views were really nice, and the colourful buildings there will definitely make your wedding photos very interesting. Best wishes and happy planning!
