  1. Hi ladies, I just heard back from Jazmin regarding options for the poolside reception. She gave me the below as one of the options. I was just wondering, what exactly is this lounge room and special illumination she's talking about? a private pool party with a cost of 1´470usd per 40people maximun and 3 hrs (8:00pm -11pm) of special drinks (piñas coladas, margaritas, sparkling wine & beers) + 2 lounge rooms + special ilumination + 1 microphone + speaker to connect your Ipod and decorated too with chairs & hight tables
  2. I've discovered maracasmexico.com for handmade maracas in Mexico. They're based in Puerto Vallarta, but it's mentioned on the website that they deliver to the resorts for you. I haven't checked for prices with them yet, so you guys can check it out if you want.
  3. Hi ladies, I'm from Toronto, ON and I was very against getting married here in City Hall before going to Mexico for the symbollic wedding at first. However, once I looked into the requirements of getting married in Mexico, I decided otherwise. It seemed too complicated to have to get blood work done and the residency requirements before we can have the ceremony. Some of our friends and family will not be staying for the whole week, so it complicates things for them too. We're going to do the legal part of the marriage here in Toronto a week before the wedding, no vows and bringing just our witnesses, and just signing the paper to apply for the marriage certificate. We felt it was easier for us.
  4. Yeah, I'm not too worried abot that, because pretty much all the brides that come back from GBP have great things to say about their wedding. I know the WCs will do a great job with everything.
  5. I've just been recently introduced to my WC, so I'm trying to come up with all my questions for her all at once, since they take some time to reply back. I've already made a gutsy move and booked my DJ already too.
  6. Oh, you're getting married on the same day as worstbride if you're getting married on the 19th of November. I'm getting married on the 12th at Tulum, but I'm going to be staying at the resort an extra week for our honeymoon, so maybe I will bump into you somewhere. I've been wondering about the poolside reception as well, and I believe it is first come first serve. But I've been told on this forum that they have many pools and should be able to accommodate for all the brides getting married that day.
  7. Thanks Katryne. Yeah I think I looked further back thinking it was a while back we talked about it. I'm just going to wait until they contact me then.
  8. OMG! Those pictures are awesome! When my FI and I visited Puerto Vallarta last year, we went ziplinig with Vallarta Adventures as well. They're amazing! I would've never thought of doing the activity in my wedding gown... I'm too clumsy for that, but your pictures... AMAZING!
  9. I'm trying to dig thru the thread to find the answers (cause I know it was mentioned), but I'm not having any luck. So here goes again: Jazmin just sent me the info sheet to complete. At the bottom, it mentioned the resort photographer and to contact them. For brides that used or are using outside photographers, did you email them before arrival at the resort, or just waited for them to contact you? I don't really want to contact them to tell them I'm not using service, just to hear more restrictions from them. Is it required of me to contact them and cancel their service ahead of time?
  10. Similar to tkuzma, one of my bridesmaid also dropped out on me near the deadline for placing the deposit for the group rate. I was so disappointed that she couldn't come because she had to start school that September (I'm getting married in November). There's really nothing else you can do. I talked to my FI and he cheered me up. At the end, all that matters is you're there to get married to the love of your life. Happy planning
  11. Mine is booked for 4pm as well. I think Trisha has mentioned that it will all depend on the photographers themselves. Some will work fast enough to catch some great shots, while some may take a little longer. The sun sets around 5-5:30ish in November when we get married. My photographers have convinced me to do a first look photo session before the ceremony to get some photos of the bride and groom, and the bridal party. I know it's "bad luck" or non-traditional to do that, but I feel like the destination wedding is non-traditional enough on its own... that way, I know I won't have to rush for good photos with good lighting after the ceremony if it gets too dark..
  12. I have a feeling this is a dummy question, but if I'm staying at the Tulum, am I allowed to make reservations at the restaurants in Coba and Akumal? Or am I stuck with the options at Tulum? Only reason I ask, I'm staying at the resort for 2 weeks (2nd week for our honeymoon), so I would prefer if I had more options.
  13. I'm going to take a wild stab at it that the $720 includes the speakers/mic rental, the bar (because there will be a bartender there) so the money is more paying for the bartender's service just specifically for her party.. I think that's what I read somewhere else on this thread.
  14. Exciting stuff You'll be at the Bahia the same week as us... different part of the resort, but it's all the same
  15. Love them! My favourite is the one in the snow.. so romantic
  16. What did you get confirmed for you? I feel like I should just email the WC myself, cause my TA is not giving me any information that I wish I could get, and I've been bugging for a while now. I feel like I would've gotten a response by now from the WC if I just emailed them myself. Sigh~
  17. Yeah.. $97 may not seem like a lot at first, but it adds up when there's so many of them. Plus, $97USD is a lot to the locals. My FI's cousin actually owns a business that does wedding ceremony and receptions on her property.. but it wasn't on the beach and it would cost everyone else money to get off the resort and go there, so there was no way to please everyone. Jolly Beach was quiet when I was there. It was really low season (September) so it was not bad. There are so many birds everywhere though, which I'm sure you've experienced before. I saw a couple getting married at the gazebo at Jolly Beach while we were there, which was a reason why I didn't choose it either. It was too public, right over the pool, so all other guests can be watching from the pool in their bathing suits. The beach location was public (since all beaches in Antigua are public) so again, not private enough for my preference. But the resort staff was great and I liked the resort. LOVED the Indian a-la-carte there, and loved that it was so close to Jolly Harbor so we walked out to take the local busses all the time to All-Saints to see his family and go to the supermarket at Jolly Harbor to get junk food.
  18. i LOVE that song!! Camila has a couple of songs that I really love, but the FI is not big on it. He wants to use "Thank you for loving me" by Bon Jovi
  19. Not really related to the resort itself, but just wanted your opinions.. I just got some really bad new yesterday from one of my bridesmaid.. she can no longer attend the wedding as she has to start school in September and cannot miss a week in November for my wedding. My FI is insisting on 3 groomsmen/bestman, and I'm short one bridesmaid. Would you guys suggest that I find someone else or keep the 2 girls? It would look weird in pictures wouldn't it?
  20. Oh boy Andrea! You guys planning to party hard.. the poolside reception AND more dancing/partying after that?! I feel like I'm gonna be glad if I can last till the end of the poolside reception LOL
  21. Great planning thread! I love the colors you chose for the wedding. Congrats!
  22. I got engaged in September and I finalized my quote with the TA approx a year out. She actually gave me an amazing rate for booking early. I think it will really depend on the location of your destination wedding as well and the time of year you're going. My FI and I originally wanted to go to Antigua for the wedding because the FI's family is from there. We wanted a November wedding, but during that time, only 1 airline flew down there, and made the prices ridiculous. Close to $2000/person!!! So we changed the location and got a much better rate since Mexico is so much more common than Antigua, there are so many options. Good luck
