Yeah, I'm getting more and more excited as we speak, and checking this forum does make things even more exciting with other brides chatting with me. I will try to enjoy the day and let you guys know how the wedding went. I'm there for 2 weeks, one for the wedding and the other a mini honeymoon with the new hubby. So if anyone has any questions about the resort or things that I can figure out for you while I'm there (without having to hunt down a WC), let me know and I'll try my best to check them out for you ladies while I'm there.

Hopefully we hear something back soon, and if/when we do  I will be sure to let you know! I will let you know also if I hear anything. I'm like a crazy lady checking my emails all the time! Most brides to be on here are getting married in tulum or coba so it's unclear if Akumal is really busy for weddings or there's not a lot of Akumal brides on here. Fingers and toes crossed we get something sorted soon! I met a bride from this forum whom i've been chatting with quite often offline. She's getting married at Akumal the week after me (while I'm still at the resort) and she dealt with Eugenia. I've been hearing more often that she's unresponsive than most other WC.

We have had the worst time trying to get a hold of Eugenia. After some nasty emails from our TA and a contact from Air Transat, we finally got her to reply to us once, introducing herself and telling us the planning could begin and asked us to complete an info form. Well... that was 1.5 months ago now and after sending 3 emails trying to get a few questions answered and a timeline, we still have nothing! We are about 2 months away from leaving now and we still have no idea whats going on. We have no poolside reception booked, we have no idea what our timeline is for the day, and not one of our questions answered. The only think we have is the ceremony location (no confirmed time though) and confirmation that we can have our dinner at Arlequin (also no time). Is anyone else in the same boat, or is our WC just really slacking?? We have pre-travel passport booklets that we would like to mail out soon but I cannot finish it until we know our timeline and know if we have a pool for a reception. From what it seems, I've had a much different experience with the WC than you. I've been dealing with Jazmin, and she's been quite on top of everything. In the beginning, I didn't hear from her until a week or two after I send them, but she's been pretty quick since a month ago. She replied pretty much within the same day sometimes. She confirmed my ceremony location, the time, and the dinner location for me approx. 2-3 months after we booked with the TA. She confirmed the poolside reception for me as well around the same time. So I essentially had a timeline of the day relatively early in the planning process.

I've left it to the guests to figure something out for themselves. It probably maes me sound like a bad host, but I figured the less rigid I make the schedule, the better it is for them. I figured they can all gather at a bar near by the restaurant, or closest bar to the ceremony location. I'm sure the guests will understand. As for the speeches, the resort doesnt allow music or mics in the restaurants because it will disrupt the other guests in the restaurant. So those making speeches will just have to speak a little louder. They say its quiet enough there that you should be good without speakers.

I decided I'm not going to get a DJ.... I'll just have an IPOD. *** Does the videographer capture the entire wedding or just the ceremony? I'm having people do their speeches during the dinner. I've read on the forum that usually not as many people are in the restaurants around the time we're in there, so it's slightly more quiet. I know I will be taking my time with the photos, so I won't really have a cocktail hour. Hopefully it works out.

If so please could they be emailed to me [email protected] Thanks I have the flowers catalogue that Jazmin sent me, but the photos are VERY outdated. For me, before I even received the catalogue, I just assumed that basic common flowers were included in the package. Anything that is most likely required to be imported from other countries would not, like orchids. Let me know if you still want me to send to you.
  7. Quote:Originally Posted by KatLew Ok so my ceremony is at 3pm, dinner at 6pm... I am bummed about this, because I dont want guests waiting around for a long time before dinner and poolside reception... SO I was thinking... Is it possible to do a cocktail hour to do speeches with some sort of little appetizers? 3:00-3:30pm ceremony 3:30-5:00pm pictures 5:00-6:00pm cocktails, appetizers, speeches? 6:00-8:00pm dinner 8pm-11pm poolside reception *** I really wish I could move my ceremony up to 3:30 or dinner down to 5:30 Any other suggestions? I have the exact same timeline for my wedding next Tuesday. I didn't get too bummed out about it because I have more time for photos after the ceremony, and nobody has to rush for photos or to the next location. I'm sure guests wouldn't mind hanging around the bar for 30-1hr in between. I know they can arrange a cocktail hour for you, but I believe it will be an extra cost because the resort is designating a specific staff just for your party. For me, I'm sending out an email or in the welcome letter to the guest to tell them the timeline and ask them to chill at a bar or something while the couple does the photos ourselves. These are little minor things that you can work around, so don't get too bummed about it.
  8. Quote:Originally Posted by KatLew Thanks for the reply. Are you doing a symbolic or legal ceremony? I emailed jazmin about having my cousin read a poem and allowing us to do our own vows before the judge officiated everything but I have not yet heard back. I'm doing the symbollic ceremony because the we wanted to avoid all the hassle of the blood test and arriving early. Some of our guests are limited to the number of days they can stay, so I didnt want the legalities to interfere with that. So technically, I'm already a married woman!! we had our legal ceremony on october 4th at city hall. Now it's just time to party! I think Jazmin might be on vacation right now, at least from what I was told.

As far as I know I think the only thing u can choose is how many tables/how many ppl at each table, you might be able to get away with name cards and specific seating for each guest. We plan to just have our guest sit where ever they want during dinner cause we don't really care about the dinner, its the after dinner reception where we want all our decorations and table cards and such to happen:) I think for wedding favors, we are doing like gold picture frames with a picture of each guest and that will act as the seating arrangement in a way?? Does anyone know about legal ceremony vs. symbolic? we are doing legal but hope to still do our own vows and have my cousin read a poem.... I think for the legal ceremony, you would have to do the blood test and be in Mexico 2 business days before the wedding ceremony. The symbollic ceremony is just the ceremony without any legalities linked to it. I believe in both, you should be able to do your own vows and readings. You would just have to bring that up to the WC's attention before the wedding. I mentioned it to Jazmin, and she said it was fine. She asked for the name of the person doing the reading, and the actual reading itself. I didnt mention anything about vows, but I also sent her a ceremont program with the order of the events for the ceremony and she said it was fine as well, so I think they can try to accomodate to your wants.
  10. This is getting frustrating seeing all these posts on the forum about the resort not letting people do this and bring that. I've been dealing with Jazmin, and she's been pretty good so far with responses. My weddings is 1.5 mths away, and I have most of the things planned now with her, and I have emails printed out to document everything she said that was ok. I've placed deposits for DJ Bob and the make-up artist about 6 months back, and Jazmin confirmed it was ok. I will definitely make a scene if they reject them. As for the photographers, I am paying for a friend to stay in the resort for 5 days, and Jazmin just told me to email Arrecife Studios about it. They havent responded to my email at all, so I'm going to have to talk to Jazmin again maybe.

Hmm...
  12. I booked DJ Bob as well for my mid November wedding, and I havent heard anything from the resort to tell me that he is not allowed on the resort. If they haven't mentioned anything to me, and I have an email from the resort confirming that he is fine, then I'm going to b*tch the crap out of the resort until I get my way.
  13. Congrats Miriam! Sounds like you had an amazing wedding I was just wondering, do you remember the order of your ceremony? My friend is making some ceremony programs for me, and we want to know what the order of events are... Thanks in advance!
  14. I was wondering if any brides had the most updated details and order of the events for a symbollic wedding? I wanted to begin working on my ceremony programs, and would love to have the order of events before I start. Thanks!
  15. Jazmin told me at least 1 month before your wedding. I'm sure if the number were to change within the month, and it's not a dramatic change, they should be ok if you let them know before arriving at the resort.
  16. Hi Lori, Hope this helps. This is what Jazmin sent me for my wedding in November as well.
  17. I'm not having my wedding there, but I was there November 2011 for vacation with my now fiancee. It was our first vacation together and couldn't have asked for a better experience. i LOVED it there! The entertainment staff are amazing and it was a nice resort, somewhat away from the craziness of main part of Cuba so it will be a little more private. Best wishes
  18. I guess I have been quite lucky with Jazmin, because the longest I've waited for a response was approx. 1.5 weeks. Although, I haven't emailed her since late March since I have most of the important items confirmed. I've compiled a larger list of questions and responses for her, and waiting a little while before I send her another email.
  19. On pg 1 of this thread, Trisha actually posted photos of the Tulum beach palapas location if you want to see it.
