  1. Oh boy, you dont understand how great it is to hear that from you. I have an appointment on Dec1st for my first wedding gown shopping experience with my mom and the bridesmaids. We can only go on a weekend since my sister is in Guelph for school during the week. Hopefully, it won't be the zoo that you mentioned. The dress I saw online that I really like is $350CAD. So we shall see how that goes.
  2. Centerpieces for the reception dinner... if I were to just have the dinner in one of the specialty restaurants, do they supply centerpieces? And if I wanted to bring my own centerpieces (that may require some assembly), when do I provide these to the coordinator?
  3. SJay, That's a great idea. I didn't even think of that. My appointment is December 1st so maybe I will call them in a week to check with them, and see if they have the dress I'm looking for. Thanks for the tip!
  4. i love the way you did the colors of your save the dates... the way its a black and white photo with your wedding colors accents. It's beautiful!
  5. Best wishes on your wedding! I'm sure it will be amazing! Can't wait to see pictures and hear all about it... it'll give me ideas for mine next year
  6. On my way out to Michaels with my FI, he asked me what I was shopping for. I told him I was shopping for items to make personalized hangers for the girls at the wedding. His response: "Why on EARTH are we going to carry hangers down to Mexico when they already have them there? Such a waste of space in the suitcase!" LOL then I showed him these pictures, and he had nothing else to say. He said they were "really cool". Just thought I'd let you know, philanab!
  7. It's still in progress, whenever I get new information, but this is ours. http://IpWarner.ourwedding.com
  8. This is a great planning thread! I love the DIY programs you made.. they had a lot of personal touches to it! Great job!
  9. I used the free website from theknot.com, and it was really easy to use. All the suggested pages were pre-designed for you, and you just had to fill in all the details that you want. After the suggested pages that they set for you, you were also given 2 bonus pages of blank space for you to use it whichever way you want. I think I finished my website within a week or so. If you want your personal domain, I believe it was $19.99/yr http://IpWarner.ourwedding.com
  10. Oh boy. Thanks for the tutorial on how you assembled your passport. I was considering making one for the OOT bags, but decided otherwise cause I couldn't think of a good way to assemble it together. Now, I might have to try it out.
  11. Wow! Congratulations! I love all the details with the links to where you purchased your items. It's really helpful. And I ABSOLUTELY adore the Chinese symbol for marriage on your stationery. It's a really nice touch for the your hubby's family I'm sure. I'm Chinese myself, and I was wondering whether or not to find a traditional Chinese wedding gown for the wedding, and seeing yours makes me want to find one for sure now. Thanks! Your wedding looked beautiful
  12. Love the beach bags and the cute Ts. If only my FI would enjoy wearing Ts like that.. where did you get them? Or were they customized for you?
  13. These are amazing! I'm going to have to try these myself. I was just thinking of heading to Michaels tomorrow to check out supplies, so I guess I can just add these supplies to the list. Thanks for the tutorial!
  14. Hi CourtBestBride and SJay, Thanks for the suggestions as well. I saw David's Bridal in the bridal magazines but wasn't sure if their selection would be as great here in Canada. I guess I will try heading there. You think the store in Mississauga will be any different from the one in Scarborough?
  15. Hi Veronica, Yes, we're getting married at the Gran Bahia Principe Tulum. We just put down the deposit with them a couple of days ago. How about you? As for the dresses, I considered the convertible dresses too but my sister is really picky and she doesnt like them too much so she wants to look for other dresses. Thanks for the advice though. That might be my plan B if I really cant find anything.
  16. Hi ladies, Anyone from the Toronto GTA area that have suggestions on where to shop for bridesmaid dresses? I'm trying to find places with a wide range of selection (on colors) but haven't had any luck searching online.
  17. Hey Lyssa, I'm not sure if you've chosen a destination yet. I'm going to Riviera Maya in November 2013, and the quotes that I got from my wedding planner are $1103/person (incl. tax) for a double occupancy room. I'm not sure if that's the rate all around the area, but I thought it was amazing. Maybe you could try that.
  18. Just found this thread! Love it Newbie bride from Toronto. The FI and I are getting married next November (2013) in Riviera Maya. This thread is going to help a lot, as many of the other threads are brides from USA, and the sites and places they purchased things are not applicable to us here in Canada. Thanks!
  19. I did not set aside too much of my budget for stationery, so I decided to do a DIY project for them. I wanted to stick to the travelling theme, so I chose to do a one-side postcard, which would be sent via email. Photoshop is amazing, when you just want to do simple designs. The invitations and RSVP cards are still in the works on the laptop... Here it is... after 3 days of playing around on photoshop
  20. Your postcard save-the-date's are gorgeous! I love the vintage look to it with the sepia tint. It's amazing!
  21. Oh, thanks for all the tips and comments. I was going to allocate a large portion of my budget to the wedding photographer anyways, but I would much rather pay the extra money to have arrange for my own photographer stay on the resort, and guarantee that I would like his style of photography... rather than just paying a lot of moneyin general. I just want to confirm (as I have seen different comments and be 100% certain)... 3rd party photographers... they are required to stay on the resort for a minimum of 3 or 5 days?
  22. Yeah, I'm wondering the same thing too now. Is the resort photographer just really expensive, or are they just not as professional as other wedding photographers that we can hire ourselves? Because it seems a lot of people do hire a 3rd party photographer rather than use the resort ones.
