  1. I think the ceremony location is based on which part of the resort you're staying in. If you're Akumal, then it's 1 or 2 specific locations you can choose from. Check out this thread here. Trisha has photo tours of the resorts and some of the wedding ceremony locations. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/75549/official-gran-bahia-principe-riviera-maya-thread She also has a lot of other information on there, that might help. I'm staying at the Tulum so I believe my wedding ceremony will be held at the gazebo. I could be wrong, but I'm just going to wait for now, and plan my other things for now. Since I don't know the number of guests attending, I'm just brainstorming ideas for OOT bags, my ceremony programs and scripts, and deciding on the centerpieces for the reception (since I will most likely choose one of the restaurants at the resort).
  2. I'm just going to keep praying that I will have it easy at the customs, and won't need to use any of my Spanish. I'd much rather that than having to deal with them and delaying everyone.
  3. Oh boy! That does sound like quite an expensive quote.. *fingers crossed* Sounds like you have a pretty busy 2 months ahead of you. Good luck with your exams and the final bits and pieces of your planning. Can't wait to see your photos!
  4. I'm going through a wedding planner in a sense, and my wedding is the week before yours, and I haven't had any contact with mine yet. I don't really know who my wedding coordinator is at the moment, but I'm going to give it some time.
  5. @ JReist, how's your final 2 months coming along? You have everything settled already?
  6. Yeah, I think the most important thing when planning the DW for me is letting people know as early as possible the week that it will take place. This gives people enough time to think. For me, I chose to send save the dates by email as well but I used Photoshop and made a 1-sided postcard with the basic information of the week, the country. I had already started working on a wedding website by that time, so I had included the link on the email as well, and told my guests to check the website every once in awhile for updates. There are a couple of websites around that offer free wedding websites, so that is a good way to keepyour guests informed throughout the planning process. The more informed your guests are, the easier it is to have them organized.
  7. It's good to know that it helps to know Spanish. I haven't studied it for that long so I'm not completely fluent, but I'm hoping that if any issues do come up that knowing that little bit of Spanish would help. It's good to know my Spanish courses in university isn't going to waste!
  8. My wedding date is November 12, 2013 and I started to get quotes around the beginning of November. My resort is pretty big in size, so I could've waited a little longer to book, since I don't really have to worry about the resort running out of rooms. However, my TA found me a really great quote of $1100/pp for Mayan Riviera, so I couldn't turn it down. So I think it will really depend on the location you were considering for the wedding.
  9. I think for me, the biggest stressor is having guests make their deposits and reservations. I feel like it's really hard to plan the rest of the wedding after the resort has been chosen without knowing the number of people attending, and afraid that if they delay too long, that the resort is full.
  10. Wow! Digital video camera? THAT alone sounds really generous already.. I'm not sure how many people are coming still.. since its a year away. So I cant decide what to put in the OOT bags yet. Sigh. I wish I could get more done...
  11. Oh boy! I just spent 2 hours at Michaels (Hwy 7 and Warden) for those in GTA. They have so much items there I was in heaven. I found these really cute mini birdcages for candles for $2.99. I didn't get them yet cause I had too much stuff with me already.. but will go back for it.
  12. I was wondering if anyone knows exactly which ceremony locations are associated with each part of the 3 resorts.. I know there is the Tulum gazebo and that's it. I'm looking at pictures and I want to make sure I'm not looking at a location that's not for my part of the resort. Thanks!
  13. Hi ladies, I don't know if anyone is looking for any stamps, cardstock, or craft supplies. There's a great store called Bizzy B's by High Park subway station that is having a Black Friday sale for a lot of items. If anyone is in the area, you should check it out. I've been to the store before, and I loved it there.
  14. JA2012, you're not the only one. Trust me. I have the site in the background at work, and whenever I'm free and want to take a break, I'm checking in on the site to read the planning threads to get ideas. I'm on the site when I get home too.. That's why the FI is getting a little bored of me talking to him about weddings LOL
  15. Wow! These are some really good deals here. There's a place in Yorkville that is selling pashmina's.. 3 for $10 I believe, and they have some neat jewelry there as well. It's in the Cumberland Shops underground. I walked by there earlier during my break at work and noticed them.
  16. Congratulations! You'll really find everything you want to know here.. it's the best thing that's happened for my wedding planning. I'm getting married too next November, and I'm going to Riviera Maya for my DW.
  17. Good luck with it JA2012, hopefully, they'll be able to help you with the quotes. I find it's so much easier when there's a TA to help with those things since we have enough of other things to stress over.
