  1. @@LilyPotter I absolutely love the straps/back that you envision on your dress however, I feel like they may not look how you envision it to as its not the same style of dress. I absolutely love your dress and think it looks gorgeous as is! However whatever you decide will be beautiful! I just think it is probably not necessary to do those type of straps if you love it already as is!
  2. Anyone still around here? I have 34 days left til I leave and am sooo excited! I have my first dress fitting tonight! So excited/nervous! Hoping it fits well and won't need too many alterations!
  3. @@PuntaCanaBride14 I am not a punta Cana bride but I am getting married may 5th in Cuba! It's coming up sooo soon now! I can't wait! What resort are you going to?
  4. Can't wait to see a photo of you in the dress!!!
  5. I recommend Kelly Neonakis. She doesn't live in Alberta but she works with brides frm all over Canada and is amazing! Let me know if you want her contact info!
  6. This is my short reception dress! I love it and cannot wait to wear it!
  7. Wow that sounds awesome!!! Good luck! Can't wait to hear back about it!
  8. Its a hard decision! I love the reception dress you posted! And it might be more comfortable, but you wouldn't be in your wedding dress for very long. I am changing into a reception dress but not til after the dinner. And I am having a second wedding ceremony once we return so I get to wear it twice. But it would be a little insane for you to change 4 times lol! I think this one is really personal preference, if you its going to be really hot and you'll be dying of heat and uncomfortable in your wedding dress then maybe the reception dress is the way to go.
  9. We didn't do STD so we sent out our formal invitations out 12 months prior. However, since you already sent out your save the dates I'd say 2-4 months prior? Did you have your booking information on the invitations? Have people already had to make their travel arrangements? I think with destination weddings, there is no formal etiquette, most people say the earlier the better so people will make the travel/vacation arrangements and have time to save money if need be.
  10. Sounds like such a fun date night!!! I love it! I LOVE sushi! Unfortunately my FI does not even after several attempts
  11. @@kay2015 Ohhhh that's awesome to hear! I am sooo excited! I can't wait! only 43 days left til we leave!
  12. Wow I know resorts book up early, but they are booked the entire week over a year in advance? That's crazy! Sorry I didn't look much into Jamaica except this resort and the Iberostar as well. I have heard the Riu is great too!
  13. Oh wow! This is all soooo gorgeous!!! Your dinner is going to be SOOOO romantic!
  14. @@LauraM I only really went with my mom. Or that's what I really wanted to do... I did go with just her one day and then my MIL came with us the other day.
  15. Ohhh that sounds so lovely!!! That will be soo amazing! Personally I don't think I could it, mostly because I can absolutely not keep a secret! But it does sound sooo romantic and perfect for the two of you!!!
  16. I haven't been here but this was on the top of my list for locations in DR. I thought this resort looked beautiful! Unfortunately it was out of our budget for the price we wanted to keep it for guests. I still dream of going here one day though!
  17. I love, love, love chocolate! The inside was fudgey and gooey it was amazing! Yeah it was a really really great day! I originally didn't want one, but I am so happy I was able to experience one, it was so much fun! I know time is just flying by!
  18. We are doing ours a little differently. I know most people have an AHR, however, we are having a second wedding ceremony. My FI really wanted to get married in the Catholic church but he knew that was not my dream at all and that I really wanted to get married on the beach. So we have decided to have our wedding in Cuba with our big reception, dinner, dancing etc there. And then we will also be having a ceremony at home in the Catholic church but we will just be doing a small dessert reception afterwards for 2 hours. I haven't really planned this part of the wedding at all yet other then ordering some cupcakes lol! I am not sure if we should plan to do things, like if we should do a few small speeches, a "first" dance, or cake cutting? My cousin did something similar for his wedding because they were on a limited budget and it was really fun and they did speeches, a slide show and cake cutting, but it was also their only wedding. So I am not sure if we should that stuff or just mingle with people. Any ideas?
  19. Yeah if anyone sweats it will show through really easily on satin. I went with chiffon dresses and they will look soo nice and flowy on the beach!
  20. @@JennaMarie901 I completely agree with @@jackshayne0123. I would have them walk down and then perhaps reserve the first row for the bridal party to sit in. I was in my friends catholic wedding and since it was a mass ceremony that's exactly what we did, because no one would want to stand for an hour. This is also what we did for my sisters wedding. We walked in and sat down in the "audience" and then walked out after her and her husband walked down the aisle.
  21. @@LilyPotter WOW! Amazing thread!!! Everything looks like its coming together so nicely! AND what an amazing trip you guys have planned! That will be the trip of a lifetime! You guys will have soo much fun and it will be sooooo romantic just the two of you! So you don't plan on telling your family until you return? How do you think your families will feel? And your ruffle chair pieces look awesome! great job with those!
