  1. Kay let me know when you go and I might get an order of starfish! I just found a website... paper-garden.ca which is based in Canada and sells all types of metallic and regular paper/cardstock which are great for making invites! I just bought some Astrobright Glisten paper (it was on clearance for .20 cents a sheet)! I bought 65 sheets for like 13$ I was going to just buy a couple sheets to see if its that colour I want but shipping was 12$ so I ended up being enough for my invites 65 sheets and shipping was still 12$ so I am really hoping its the colour I am looking for. Its called Red Rocket but it looks coralish and it was listed under the pink/fushia heading so I am guessing its more pink coral then red. Heres a link to it...http://paper-garden.ca/products.php?cat=302 ; its the bottom one Red rocket. Like I said I am planning on making DIY airline ticket invites. I have already designed the invite... just waiting to confirm our information. I will be using a pearlescent white paper for the actual ticket invite. And then use the paper I just bought for the sleeve the ticket will sit in. I also bought little starfish pendants off ebay ( 1$ for 35 and free shipping -just received them today adn they are awesome -I just bid on another set of 35 for 1$!!) and I will tie these around the sleeve with ribbon... probably a lighter coloured ribbon in the coral coloured family. I am trying to decide what colour envelope to go with? They don't have matchin envelopes with the colour I am using for the sleeve, so I guess I'll wait til I receive it and then go from there... I might just go with a pearlescent white one to match the ticket invite. What do you guys think would look best?
  2. I am planning on making airline ticket invites... so I'll be needing some similar paper like that... hmmm I wonder when the Targets will be opening in Canada!
  3. Ughhh I am so jealous! Its nearly impossible to find starfish here and I am also too far from the border to make a trip over there My theme is going to be palm trees (as our arch for the beach will be covered in palms) and starfish. But the starfish almost depends on if I can get any lol! Not many of the sites online will ship starfish to Canada... I guess I might have to get my aunt in Florida to pick some up for me or have some sent to her and then she could send them over. Has anyone checked Michaels or know if they ever have starfish there?
  4. Oh Kay they look awesome|! I am so happy to hear that! In case I decide to make my own at least I'll know maybe thats a route I can go! Can't wait to see them all completed!!!!
  5. Wow MissB everything looks amazing! You are going to have such a wonderful wedding! I am so excited to see your photos especially of you in your dress!!!! Congrats on your court house wedding Where did you get your flowers from? I love them!
  6. Jamdrea thats disappointing but I am sure they will be able to fit you in another day and from what I've heard the ILA is an amazing resort! So no matter what it will great I am sure!!!
  7. Love this thread! I am going to be incorporating starfish and palm trees into my wedding. Now to put it all together so it looks good! But there are so many great ideas!
  8. Has anyone made any? And have any photos? I'd love to see some! This is a fantastic idea though as it seems impossible to get starfish in Canada!
  9. Lol Jolene! I think sometimes we get way too caught up on the same details! Like in the end you are in a tropical destination and the flowers will be nice... I am just going to bring floral ribbon to put on the bouquet and get rid of the big plasticy ribbon they seem to use with big bows lol! I think in the end (unless you are huge flower fanatic) you won't be disappointed. In the end we'll think why in the world were we so worried about these things haha!
  10. Jolene have you made any decisions on flowers yet? I also keep going back and forth about real or fake, but I am thinking to make it easier and cheaper I might just go with the flowers I can get at the resort... but I don't know hahha! Its tough going to Cuba since, unlike most other caribbean countries you can usually get anything if you forgot it, but Cuba is so limited on what they offer! It makes it hard to make a decision.
  11. Kay! I love your dress!!! Its sooo beautiful on you! I am sure if you went to a tailor they'd be able to help you figure out what would work best for the train.
  12. Wow your video preview was great! It will be so nice to have that keepsake of your whole trip! I might definitely look into that for my wedding!
  13. Kay!, thats a great idea to have them sent to a friend! Well I look forward to hearing about them! This is the picture I saw that looked similar to the ones you seem to be making. I'd probably just make them to get them done and put them in a big tupper ware container that you can get cheap from Walmart or just put them wrapped in something in a box! That would probably work well! Ohh Europe will be nice! Have you guys decided where to go yet? Have you been to Europe before? I was born in Germany so I've spent a lot of time there and travelled a lot of Europe! I am super excited my hubby and I are heading over to Germany to visit my sister for a week this summer and then going to Croatia for a week and I've set it up with a photographer in Dubrovnik to have our engagement photos done while we are there! I am SUPER excited!!! Her photos are stunning! When I look at the weddings shes shot it makes me want to get married there lol! But I think its too costly for friends to make it there unfortunately.
  14. Miss B I can't wait to see pictures of your alterations! Will you put up pics of it once it fits properly?
  15. Kay how long are you guys going for? Are you staying another week for the honeymoon?
  16. Thats the one nice thing about CUba, is you don't have to put deposits down! Makes it much easier I think! Kay have you gotten your flowers from Afloral yet? Ps I was looking on Pinterest and saw a bouquet that was on the BDW pinterest that looked almost exactly like what you are going for in your flower arrangements! Is that where you got the idea? It looked awesome!
  17. Jamdrea I know! So stressful! I spent a semester in Barbados on exchange during university and that was probaably the hardest thing to get used to. Everything was done sooooooo slowly! By the time I left I was on island time and found it hard to get back in to the swing of things lol! But from my understanding everything seems to always work out great! The coordinators do this day in and day out so they have it down to a science! Did you get your wedding date already confirmed? Also have you been on the Iberostar Laguna Azul Brides FB group? It has soooo much information on it and there are tons of past brides on there that can help answer any questions. Like I said I have decided not to get married there but I am still on the group because I love getting ideas from the group!
  18. Wow!! This is amazing!!! It has really made me want to do a lot of diy stuff! I am not very crfaty or creative, but with all these wonderful planning threads certainly makes me feel like I can do it!! Your shoes were amazing and your wedding looked sooooo beautiful!
  19. Oh Jolene! Those are awesome! I love them!!! So did you just tie a knot at the back? Or did you use a clasp to put it together? I guess if its the elastic string it has a little give to it so can probably use just a knot? I am sooo excited to get started on mine... Now I really just need to get some time to go out shopping for the supplies!
  20. Hello Jamdrea! Like Jolene I am not actually getting married at this resort so I can't comment on getting in touch with her, although I had contacted her to get information and she did get back to me about 2 weeks later, but that was really the only contact I had with her. I know all of the resort wedding co-ordinators are veru busy and will eventually get back to you. I know it makes it super stressful, but just remember they don't run on "North American" time, they run on caribbean time... which can very slow! Jolene I was planning on making barefoot sandals as well for my MOH and Bridesmaid... I haven't asked them yet but am planning on making them and giving them to them when I ask! I am not that crafty but they seem like they shouldn't be THAT hard to make and I just cannot justify paying $45-70 / pair when I know I could make the three sets for less then one pair! I am just trying to decide what I want them to look like! Do you have a picture to share of the ones you have made? About the hair flower... are you looking to make it from scratch? Or are you just going to buy a flower and add a clip to it? I have done it before for a tropical party I went to... all I did was bought a flower (maybe from the dollarstore and a plain hair clip) and then hot glued them together. It was super easy and very cute! I had seen a thread somewhere (I am thinking it was somewhere on BDW) about how to make one from scratch -like from some material but I can't remember where I found it! If I come across it I'll post it on here!
