  1. Jolene, We have decided to look at other resorts in Cuba as we haven't actually booked our trip yet. I am looking into the Iberostar Varadero. My travel agent sent me the Wedding Show Package (as we're going to legally get married in Canada). but it doesn't tell me how many people the dinner includes? Also are there any after dinner options like renting a disco or a beach party? If you have any of this information if you wouldn't mind sending it to me that would be wonderful!
  2. I also just finished the cards I made for my girls! I am so pleased with how they turned out... I am definitely finding my inner crafter nowadays! The colour of the inside isn't quite the colour I wanted and smudged a little stupid Staples! But it will have to do... The blue on my computer was turquoise but it printed in a darker blue I don't like as much. I borrowed the little poem on the inside from a Savs 1027 and adjusted for my girls.
  3. Oh Awesome! I have clear nail polish at home! Thanks! I can't believe how easy they were!!! No I just need to finish the set lol!
  4. So I made my first barefoot sandal! I only had time to finish one yesterday... I am making these to give to my girls when I ask them to be my MOH and Bridesmaid. Jolene I tied up the end at the back... I know you mentioned this earlier but did you put a drop of a glue gun on it to hold it in place better? And clearly I need a pedicure!
  5. Thanks Jolene! That was kind of my plan! I have a few styles I really like and have in mind but I also want to see what looks good on me. But I think to start anyhow I will bring those ones with me and go from there!
  6. I am going wedding dress shopping for the first time this weekend and I am so excited!!! I can't wait! Any tips ladies?
  7. Kay, I agree with Jolene! I think that will look awesome!!!! I loved your passport invites they are amazing! Its almost making me rethink my boarding idea... but I've already designed them so I think I'll just stick with it! Hope all you ladies have a great |Easter Weekend!
  8. I agree, I've looked into buying them but I just cannot justify spending like 500 or 600$ on invitations... to me that seems like such a waste of money! I thought the designing part of it would be the hardest but with the templates it made it so easy to design. Plus I have just been playing around with the design until I found something I liked... I think the cutting and putting together part wiill jsut be tedious but definitely worth it in the end.. I hope lol!
  9. Jolene, did you buy a punch to round the corners of your boarding passes or did you jsut cut them with scissors?
  10. Interesting that they use different chairs for the meals if you have gala set up or not. I have seen some people just bring white material and you could put it over the back, they drape it, and then tie a chair sash around it.
  11. I think it would look better stapled... I think it looks more like a realistic passport that way!
  12. Ohhhh they look great! I can't wait to see them once they are assembled!!!
  13. They look great Lydia! I am going to be making DIY boarding pass invites! I am so excited to get started on them!
  14. And by Barcelo I meant Blau! Wow thats such a good price!!! You guys must be leaving from Toronto if you're in Cobourg? I used to live in Trenton and loved going to Cobourg... isn't there a nice beach there?
  15. We really should actually change the name to Cuba Brides lol! Ohhh I am excited I bought wooden plaques today at the dollar store to make Bride and Groom chair decorations! I am going to get some of the crackle paint to make it "antique" looking!! This is a picture of what I am hoping it might look close to by the end!
  16. Yeah the weather in Varadero isn't always great in January or February because its not as close to the equater... I know in Holguin where we are going it does tend to be warmer then Varadero. Yeah if I lived in Toronto too I'd probably go somewhere different but the prices for Cuba are just so cheap and I want to make it affordable for our guests as well. Ours should be under $1200 taxes in so I think thats pretty good from Halifax! Lydia, Does the Barcelo only do one wedding per day?
  17. Jolene have you been to Cuba before? I have been to the DR and I did like it but I actually prefer Cuba. I just liked the idea of being able to have everything available to me there! When I was there though I went to Puerto Plata and I haven't been to Punta Cana which is where I would have liked to go... oh well it will just be another trip we'll have to make at another time!
  18. Wow your wedding looked amazing!!! I love the pinata idea! I have been thinking about doing that as well! I'll have to bring it from home as I don't think they have them in Cuba. But it should still be fun!
  19. Oh that will be nice! I would have liked DR just for the fact that a lot is available to you, whereas with Cuba you have to bring decorations and everything with you, but my hubby to be's only stipulation was that if it was going to be down south he wanted it to be in Cuba. He is one of those people who likes things he already knows and he hasn't been to the DR before. Nonetheless I am excited and can't wait since will be somewhere hot and tropical and I do love Cuba!
