Ohh I am sooo excited to take a look through it!! I will go through it on MOnday when I have some more time... but I also wanted to update I think I found my gown! I am going to a couple more places tomorrow just to make sure, but it was the first dress that I did not want to have to take off!!! This is exactly what my FI and I are thinking of doing! We love doing puzzles and thought it would be a great way to have fun and have use an engagement photo! I want to put it together when I get home and then put it in a double sided glass frame!

Oh those are super cute! I know a girl who just brought the sparklers in her checked baggage and no one said anything to her. I just would be worried if I got caught with them that I'd get a fine and not allowed on the plane. I really wanted them too but am not sure I want to take the chance on it. In other countries like DR and Mexico you can purchase them there, but unfortunately in Cuba I don't think its an option and Jolene -its a regulation in Cuba that won't allow the resorts to do the wish laterns. I can kind of see it as there are a lot of palapas type things on the beaches and resorts and what if something happened and something caught fire.

Ohh so exciting! Sounds like it will be sooo nice! Yeah or I guess just make sure you have someone who will pick up the decorations after the dinner! How are you bringing the sparklers? I wanted to bring them as well... but I am pretty sure its illegal to bring them on the plane as they are flammable...

I am so excited I just made my first Vistaprint purchase! I bought business cards for 10$ (free shipping) and am going to use the business cards and put them into luggage tags! They are so cute! So excited! hahaha who knew little things like these would be so exciting lol!

omg! You definitely deserve what you want! I am having "two" weddings, one down south and then a church ceremony here so really its not any different and in a lot of other countries you have to get married in the court first and then have your wedding service at another time so I think you have every right to have a big beautiful dress for this one!!! I think its wonderful! -
Ohhh sounds so nice! I think I am going to bring chair sashes and table runners in coral... Jolene where did you order your sashes from? Also I think I am going to bring some starfish and shells for the tables and maybe some votive or tea light candles. I don't think I'll decorate the disco as it seems to look pretty nice as is. And maybe we can just put some of the decorations from the dinner tables on the tables at the disco. But I am not really too concerned with that one! I hope our flights don't change... but I know Sunwing (who we are lfying with) has been flying on wednesdays, thrusdays, and fridays from Halifax almost always so I don't think it should change too much (hopefully!) cause I have had some people already hvae to book off the time, because their vacations bids are done in April/May for the following year!

Don't let anyone make you feel bad!! I know I am a very sensitive person and like to please others... but this is one day that no one can take away from you and if they are being bad enough I say kick them off lol! Although I am sure when it comes down to it they'll be there and be supportive and happy for yoU!!! So just make yourself happy! Thats all you can really do! -
There is a photographer in Varadero who will travel who is quite good. His name is Alex. You can check out his facebook page Cuban Wedding Photographer. He does require you to put down a deposit in order to reserve him, but there are a number of people who have used him and have been very pleased with the outcome! I am booking him for my wedding in May 2014!

I know there are so many things to do! I have pretty much the big stuff planned so I am like oh man so now what will I have to do... but theres all those other little things I want to do, like make luggage tags and welcome booklets etc! I am just finishing up our invitations! They have gone through soooo many changes but I think my FI and I are both finally super happy with them! I had them the way I thought I wanted them but the colour turquoise wouldn't print off properly so it was always more of a royal blue which I didn't like. Oh well now I've changed the colour to brown and they look so beachy and awesome! I will be sooo happy once they are finally done! They have just been giving me a headahce lately haha!

hahhaa oh thats funny! I am sure it won't be a hard change to make! Good thing you didn't print it off! I am definitely going to keep that in mind in case something happens that mine has to change too!

Are you guys planning on bringing any decorations for the reception? If so what? And Kay where are you having your reception dinner have you decided yet? And are you having a private party? I requested to book the Palapas for dinner and then the disco for the private party. I like the idea of the beach party, but don't like that there aren't any chairs or a dance floor. My FI and I salsa dance so we are planning on surprising everyone with a choreographed salsa dance for our first dance and thought that would be better to do in the disco then beach!

Alex does photos for the resort weddings, but you can also book him seperately because you cannot request who does your photos through the resort... He has a facebook page... Cuban Wedding Photographer and Videographer... just search it on FB and you should find him. He has an email address on there and you can email him to find out his rates and packages. Its pricier then the resort photographer but you can customize the packages to your liking.

Thats soooo funny you should say that! Thats exactly what Mark said lol! Yeah I have decided to just let it go and be happy with my choice! The resort looks gorgeous.. more people say its amazing then not, so really I think it will be better then I even think it will be! Mark and I aren't that picky, so I think it will be perfect for us! I think sometimes these reviews come from people who are expecting so much more then what Cuba or the caribbean in general offers. Go with the flow it is... for the things I can't control that is hahah!

I have been to CUba 6 times and have never been upset by our choice in resort (only one I didn't really like- we still had a good time, just that I wouldn't go back to because I didn't find the staff very good... and its not that they were bad but just nothing special) whereas everywhere else I've always found some staff we've connected to. Anyhow thanks so much for helping ease my anxiety over this! I had talked to my mom about it and she was like, you can always change resorts but what happens when a month or two down the road there are bad reviews there... I totally thought I'd be the stress free bride, but that doesn't seem to be the case... but I am going to try and just be flexible and go with the flow otherwise I think I'll go crazy loL! Thanks so much!

Kay, I am having some reservations about getting married at the Laguna Azul - probably because I haven't been there and am only going by reviews. It had been #1 on my list and then I have been flip flopping between the ILA and Playa Pesquero. I haven't put down our deposit yet, but have booked our wedding at ILA for May 5th, 2014. I was pretty set on it, but then recently I've been reading reviews and it seems the rooms aren't the greatest and I find the reviews on the staff very hit and miss... and recently reviews coming back about weddings, although they aren't bad and still said they have had an amazing time, have obviously had their issues... I guess what I am looking to know since you've been there is how did you find the staff at the resorts? For me that is the most important thing... I don't spend much time in my room as long as it works and there aren't bed bugs I am fine lol, but I have been to beautiful resorts and the staff wasn't the best and thats what would make me not return to a resort. I am not sure if people just expect 5 stars because thats what its rated and they are not used to Cuban standards but I have been the 3.5 stars that I have loved so I am sure it will be fine once I am there, but just now knowing before makes me nervous when I am bringing a big group of people. So I guess I just want affirmation that a typical person would like this resort and find the staff friendly and nice!

So our guests can put down their deposit within those 90 days and then they will have locked in the group price and final payment is just a few months before we leave! From my understanding as long as we have 10 people we qualify for the group rate, but don't have to use all those 30 seats. They just hold it for that many just in case. I have been using Kelly and she has been amazing. Her email is [email protected]. I definitely recommend using her!
