Just an FYI - you cannot choose to skip the $5 a head "champagne toast" fee. I tried to, considering I'm paying $10 per person for a cocktail hour that has not cocktails, but champagne, and champagne is on the open bar menu. I know it's a small fee but it's just another way that we've felt tricked in this process. Anyway, I wanted to make you guys aware. My WC told me it was mandatory and to think of it as a fee for people setting up our tables and chairs... umm what? That's a service fee... why are you calling it a champagne toast? Ugh... can't wait to work with my onsite coordinator... Hopefully she is better than Claudy... /end rant.

Even if you have to distinguish meals, if you are against a seating chart I think you could work around it. you could have a sign with escort cards and say something like "Please sit where you like but leave this card at your seat to indicate your meal choice for the wait staff". Except I'm you sure you could word it better... Seating charts are not required

Congrats Emily!! I don't know how old your son is, but could you kind of fib about what is really going on? Maybe tell him it's just paperwork so you can get married out of country but you need a special witness? Might work if he's pretty young. We are going next week on whatever day future hubs can get out of work. Are you wearing anything special? We are trying to not really view this as anything but paperwork so that Mexico doesn't feel less special, so I'm debating whether dressing up and wearing white would take away from that... We aren't publicizing it but it's not a secret. We invited our parents but they said that's not the 'real' wedding to them so they want to pretend Mexico/church wedding is the actual marriage.

I mentioned that for my centerpieces I plan to recycle my bridesmaid bouquets as centerpiece bouquets. I wanted to let you know that I requested pricing to rent a vase only for the centerpieces so that the girls can just drop the flowers in. I sent my WC three centerpieces from the catalouge of which I liked the vases. They were all clear - one tall round, one spherical and one cube. I was quoted $12-15 each to rent only these vases. That seems pretty fair to me considering it would save me the hassel of transporting or purchasing in Mexico. Just wanted to let yall know in case that helps anyone!

I just asked about tables and she said we can have rounds of 8-10 or imperial. Is imperial like a king's table? (One long table) I am going to do whatever seating arrangement works with the seating chart. I prefer us to have a sweetheart table because I like the pictures for the toast... but I'm not set one way or another. We have just enough people to fill 7 tables of 10, but then you end up with one table of randoms who don't really go together, and leaving people out of the family table or whatever... so we will probably end up with tables of 7-10 depending on the group. The one long table might be easier, if that is what an imperial table is.

Jonnaleigh, did you have to do the arras, lasso, bible/rosary & unity candle traditions? Since we are already having a full mass we are unconvinced on these. I saw an old review where the girl said they were basically required to do these. Thanks for posting a great review! I can't wait to see your pro pics!

The question above mine made me think of something to point out to everyone. There is at least one other resort with Royal in the name in Cancun. We have a travel agent working with us so 90% of our guests booked through her and there was no problem. However, my Uncle tried to book through his timeshare and they booked them at the wrong resort. The only way he figured it out was he asked a question about the all inclusive and that "Royal In Cancun" did not offer it or something. Thank goodness! It was very stressful when I realized I would feel obligated to purchase all four of them day passes for every dang day so they would be a part of everything... Anyway, it all worked out but I wanted to make sure you guys know so you can stress to any guests who might be booking through a third party...

Hi Lesley, Which buffet did you request? I had to tell her which one I wanted before I was quoted. But the PDF sheet had prices listed and I think only a handful were more expensive. I was told to add $10 for each guest. So, for the first 30 guests it's $25 and the remaining will cost $40. We chose the international buffet 2. We were also told minimum of 50 guests.

We decided to do a cocktail hour instead of a dinner. We have about 65 guests coming and we want to invite everyone, not just the wedding party and family, to the rehearsal party. We are having a 2 hour reception on the beach the night before the wedding. Prices are same as the cocktail hour between ceremony and reception except it's actually a full bar.... weird right? So for $10 an hour you get 3 apps and full bar, $15 you get 3 hot apps and full bar. It also comes with some basic furniture. There won't be room for everyone to sit, but that is fine as we want people to be mingling. My in laws are generously hosting this party, and have decided to also reserve the mariachi band. Also, we timed it to end at dinner time so that everyone can have time for a full meal afterwards. As part of the royal package we get a couple's dinner on the beach and I think we are going to schedule it for that night to have some alone time together before the wedding. I feel like all the little details are finally falling in place - only 56 days to go!!!

Has anyone having a Catholic wedding had difficulty getting in touch with the priest? We fedexed our documents down over a month ago. I have confirmation from the tracking number, but I was hoping to have the church themselves tell me that nothing was missing. I've sent 4 emails and still nothing. Anyone else? I also want to set up a meeting with the priest for when we get there to discuss last minute items for the mass. As of now we haven't submitted our reading choices or anything. Anyone else? I know I should just pick up the phone and call but I usually handle these things in my short breaks at work so emails are much easier to deal with...

Girls who have recently submitted their final checklist... under the linens section, did you put order napkins or is that for some special upgraded color napkin? Same question for table cloths. My WC sent me the picture of the "standard" all white, but I'm wondering if that is free or if I need to add it to my checklist.

Floral pics are all available on the website, but I had our WC provide some pictures of the basic table setting. Message me your email address and I'll send them to you. It's the all white standard and personally I think it looks great and won't be upgrading to color linens. Uploaded pictures aren't visible to everyone on the boards (myself included). I will say that the flowers don't look super impressive on their website PDFs, but I looked at some pictures from my photographer's blog and was kind of able to tell which bouquets were which from their list. I think the resort's photos just don't do them justice vs a good pro photographer. I am not using an outside florist just because it wasn't in the budget and I'm not super picky about that. I am doing my own centerpieces when I get there. I'm buying vases in Mexico and the bridesmaids will just put their bouquet into the vases at the tables so they can serve double duty. Then I'm just sprinkling some sea glass and shells on the table which i got cheap from save-on-crafts.com. That is so exciting about the signature drink! I never would have asked because I figured it'd be a fortune. Now just to figure out a good themed cocktail. My theme is sort of bipolar between seaglass and fish. I did not order special straws but I did order a ton of those little cocktail umbrellas

Hey girls, trying to keep everyone updated as I hear back on WC questions since this site is more reliable than her... I was told that YES there is an extra $5 per person charge for cocktails at the cocktail hour. And yes I did reply with a smart ass remark that cocktails are by definition made with liquor and a mixer, and that "cocktail hour" implies a full bar. Yep, my WC will hate me by the time I make it to Cancun. Also I was told there are no examples of the videographer... maybe we can find a bride on the boards who has one she can share with us?

How much guidance did you give him for music? We are not music people so I don't know what to request.. I really just want him to keep people dancing! Our crowd is about half in the 50-60 range and about half in the 25-30 range so I know we will need a variety. Do you think I can basicaly just tell him to go for it and trust his judgement? I'm sure he knows 100x better than me what to play! Right now the only thing I have on my list is our first dance, cake cutting, etc music.

Same here. We haven't had the wedding yet but the DJ said he will provide cold fire works for us, so don't pay extra for those even though it's an option on the spreadsheet. He also said he would provde glow sticks, masks and other fun party items. I got a kick out of it because he said they were "free and non-negotiable". Like "Oh, I will be bringing glowsticks to your wedding, like it or not!" Can't wait - it sounds like he really knows how to get everyone dancing
