  1. I picked the bags up today!! They didn't have any of my wedding colors but I got pink and orange because they are bright and beachy anyway! Make sure you sign up for their ikea family thing- it's free- and it saved me 10$ on 50 of them! I emailed my WC and requested Ivan from doremixx- i heard he's great- hopefully he will still be available! And I just got my photographer! Things are starting to roll! too bad it's still almost a year away!
  2. To be honest MSPOKRAN I didn't even think about a cake stand. I think that like you said, with hauling down so much already, I won't be bringing one. Maybe you could look in one of the markets when you get down there? Also, just an FYI ladies- if you are planning on doing Welcome Bags, I found some cheap bags at Ikea that are foldable nylon bags for 99 cents, only 79 if you are an "ikea family" member! I plan on going to check them out tomorrow perhaps. Luckily I have an ikea about half an hour away! Also, DOREMIXX responded and included all oft he things that Mannia did, except they didn't mention bringing props, I think that they do this though because I've seen it mentioned in other reviews. Perhaps they just forgot to say that.. I really don't know which company to pick because I've heard good reviews about both of them, and they are the same price.. Anyone have any advice!?
  3. I emailed both Mannia and Doremixx to see what they bring- so far I have heard back from mannia and this is what they said " "What we include in the package are balloons, fireworks, some props, DJ booth, Professional DJ, wireless microphone, robotic lights, and a professional MC that speaks 100% english which helps a lot during the party for announcements and to keep the party a blast". I haven't heard from Doremixx yet but I just emailed them an hour or so ago. Thank you ladies for all of your comments, it helps a ton! What we include in the package are balloons, fireworks, some props, DJ booth, Professional DJ, wireless microphone, robotic lights, and a professional MC that speaks 100% english which helps a lot during the party for announcements and to keep the party a blast
  4. JordanB said that he brought fireworks for free- I'm thinking along the same lines as you are about mentioning it to the wedding coordinator.. perhaps if we express our interest with DJ DOREMIXX and not the wedding coordinator, he will just bring them. I think the light up floor is an extra $700- yikes! but everyone says it's worth it, I have a hard time justifying that when a regular one comes with the package... but I haven't read anyone say that they would have just went with the plain one.
  5. Oh my goodness, thank you Billandstina- you saved me a ton of work. I keep hearing about how great he is too- I also hear that Mannia is really good too, but he's normally more expensive if you aren't through the resort- I wonder why they are both the same price then. Did he say if he brings fireworks too? I think that Mannia does.
  6. I was told by my wedding coordinator that the price for a DJ is 950 for 3 hrs, I also saw in some of the reviews of the DJ's the hotel uses (DOREMIXX) that their price was $450 for 2-4 hours, did anyone else find this out or ask the Royal why the prices are so different? Or, does anyone know the fee for using an outside vendor?
  7. I just found a 10% discount code to Floreria Riviera for Playa del Carmen after liking their facebook page- the code is: 0312pdc I'm not sure all of the details because they were in spanish. I haven't used them or contacted them, but I saw a good review- I also saw a lot of great reviews for Marvin. Let me know what you find out! I am trying to decide what I want to do for flowers- I always said I wouldn't use fake flowers- but I might have to to stay within my budget.
  8. jordanb! your tables were so pretty!! Did you bring those lanterns down with you, or did they have them there? I was thinking about doing them also!! Congrats on getting married! Everything looked so beautiful in your pictures!
  9. Hi All! I am planning a wedding at the Royal on Feb 27, 2014. Does anyone have an advice on DJ's? I think we want a DJ and I have seen pictures with DJs that have brought props and things which is something that I would love-does anyone know of any good ones? I don't know if I should go with the one the resort, or look into other vendors. Also, I want to put in my welcome bags some of those Serape blankets I think, does anyone know if there is a place to get them cheap in Playa del Carmen?? I don't really want to have to bring them all down with me, and is there a local flower market that I could possibly get flowers for the reception there and bring them into the resort? I want to use blue jars and put red or yellow flowers in them ( my colors are aqua, red and yellow), but I know the resort charges an arm and a leg for flowers- any advice!?

  11. VenetianLove- Awesome! I'm glad to hear that it's a great place!! We are having our ceremony and reception both on the beach down by the pier- the planner said that if we wanted to do both ceremony and reception on the beach we had to do it down there. Are you having a DJ? and what are you doing for a photographer?
  12. Thanks so much for your guys' help! We set our Date today for February 27th, 2014! I'm very excited! NicJ i'm excited to hear about your progress with planning!
  13. I am recently engaged and also chose The Royal PDC for our wedding- we are looking at the last week of February/ 1st week of March!! I'd also appreciate any suggestions/ advice/ thoughts!!!!
  14. @ Josie! Thanks so much! It looks like the OCT is more affordable for the wedding package, I just haven't seen very many recent reviews of weddings on here about it. Did you also visit OCT? If so, how did you like it compared to the Now Jade? Thanks so much for your help!!
  15. Help Help Help Ladies and Gents!! I am looking to have a wedding in the last week of February of 2014.. I know it's ways away, but I want to figure out the place before I ask my bridal party, and send out save the dates! My TA thought Riviera Maya would be the most affordable for us coming from Michigan- we are estimating to have around 50 guests. I am having a heck of a time trying to decide what resort to have our wedding at. I have been looking online and thought the Barcelo Maya Palace Deluxe, Now Jade, and Ocean Coral and Turquesa all looked really nice and affordable. I'm sure there are some amazing resorts that I haven't scoped out yet, does anyone know of any I missed, or having any opinions about the ones that I am looking at? I really want to have a private reception outside and would like to be able to decorate it nicely! Please Please Help!! Thanks so much!!
