I think wickys was in the playa del Carmen were kids allowed thread bc I saw it too!! I am getting married on the beach down by the pier- I think that area is a little busier but I figure what the heck- I'm getting married on a beach- if there are more people around that's just more people that get to see us celebrate. I think the pier will be pretty and that was the only space that I could do the cocktail reception and reception both on the beach. I believe my ceremony is at 4- I think I'm going to do most of my pictures before the ceremony that way I can attend the cocktail hour because I'm excited for our mariachi band during it! You are right about not seeing any bad reviews about Dj doremixx! I didn't either- and I also liked them on Facebook- I love seeing the pictures of them at the royal! Ana is my wedding coordinator- she is usually really fast with replies and information which Is really nice!

Welcome and Congrats! When is your wedding? I didn't look into any other places, mainly because I like that I can just have the wedding coordinator at the resort do most of the stuff for the reception.

Anasteele I think they use funever- I will check and get back to you!

NicJ- my photographer friend who has done a couple weddings in the area said that it does get dark really quick and was worried when I said mine was at 4 about running out of light for pictures- so you might not want to start it later... I would talk to photographers from the area on what they think! As for a photographer- I have a friend of my photographer friend who is doing it ultra cheap- but only because she is doing a little bit of it and my friend (who is in the wedding) is doing some of it too and they have wanted to co-shoot for a while. My friend is amazing- I'm not just saying that because I'm bias- they are really good- I don't know what her prices are exactly, but I would suggest checking her page out! She does a lot of destination weddings. The facebook page is here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Brittany-Majka-Photography/142502132433215 Her actual website is here : www.bam-fam.com I looked at some of the pics from the Royal's photographer and didn't like them or else I was just going to go with them too! Your wedding is only a couple weeks before mine! Keep me updated as well!!!

Hey guys- if anyone has been waiting for a vista print coupon- there is a deal right now on living social for 19$ to get 75$ worth of stuff. On the page it says for stationary, but the actual coupon says you can use it on whatever you want. I saw on one of the posts someone made english-spanish translation cards- so I'm going to use this for that, and for some post cards for our guest book!!! Here's the link to the deal if anyone is interested. http://www.livingsocial.com/deals/648380-personalized-save-the-dates-invitations?rui=1319803

AnaSteele58- We ended up going with Ivan from DJ Doreemixx- We've heard great things about him! Our crowd will be in the age group of late 20's and then some older family members so we def. wanted a DJ for lots of dancing. I think depending on the amount of people we have coming, we may go another hour on the reception- 3 hrs seems so short, but if we have a lot of people we won't be able to afford it!

I had a hard time picking between Barcelo and the royal- In fact- first I picked Barcelo and then changed my mind to the Royal- I only switched because my friend had just gotten back from the royal and loved it, and my travel agent said it was her favorite resort in the area. Really- I think either one is a great choice- I know how stressful picking one is bc you want to make the very best decision- but my advice is just pick one- and don't look back! Haha- it will be beautiful no matter what! Good luck!!!!!!

Oh Good! I'm glad noone had any negative feedback- I sent out my save the dates a year in advance b/c I wanted to give people as much notice as possible- so like you guys have said- most will probably know if they are going to come or not. I think it will just come down to price and commitments- That's so frustrating about RSVPs- I don't think people really realize how much we count on them!!
-
Man this makes me feel a lot better- some of the other threads I saw were giving one or two months in advance for the RSVP- I was really hoping I could do more like 5-6 months just for ease of mind and knowing how many of what I need to get/ what I can afford for welcome bags etc!!! Did anyone get negative feedback for having the RSVPs due so soon?
-
Oh man the RSVP dates are driving me nuts, Do you think that 5 months is too early to have people RSVP by? Like someone mentioned before, I want to have the details to finalize and pay the resort- plus I'm in school right now and will have a really big board exam to take in January, my wedding is in February, so I won't be able to do as much planning late in the game.

kard613- I think they only have the colors shown in that link- none of them are my wedding colors, but I went with the orange and pink because they are bright and beachy. I thought for the price it was worth not having my colors- but that's just me- I'm cheap

Man there are so many awesome invites on here! I haven't ordered mine yet- but here are my save the dates. I went through Lovely Little Pieces on Etsy- I told her I wanted a post-card style STD that looked like it was from Mexico, and she created it, and sent it to me a couple times asking what I liked/ didn't like. her prices are great too! I think I might go with her for my Invites and see what we can come up with- I will def probably be using some of your guys' ideas!

I got really cheap totes from Ikea! They aren't canvas, they are the foldable reusable totes- i wanted these because I thought they would be easier for people to take home. They were 79 cents each if you join their family program (which is free)! They are really nice, and come in a lot of colors. Here's the link! http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/40210063/

Jessica G replied to EDRBride2009's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Putting the pronunciation on there was a great idea!! great bags! -
Thanks so much Mae1564! I was wondering about a welcome dinner too- it costs so much to do a rehearsal dinner at the resort- has anyone found a cheaper way to do that? Also- I booked Ivan from doremixx! I'm probably going to start looking into florists soon- I got a quote from the resort for flowers for my centerpieces- they quoted me 5$ per lily- so I will see what others say!

What flavor of cake did you get deniden? And did you like it? I'm wondering right now long to wait until I make the RSVPs due back to me.. I see three months a lot of the forum, but I feel like that gives such little time to know how many OOT Bags, centerpieces, etc. that I will need- do you guys have any thoughts about that? I'm attaching my STD incase someone is looking for ideas. I got them from Lovely Little Pieces! She's great and customizes everything for you!
