  1. Thank you, Sandy!!! I love all of this information. My fiance and I are actually going down a week early and staying on 5th avenue the first two nights in Mexico so we can get all of our shopping done. OMG...I'm so excited...AHHHHHHHHHHH. haha
  2. Hi Trace! I hope your days as a married woman have been blissful I have three questions for a fellow Iberostar bride. 1. Aisle Length: How long do you think it takes to walk down the aisle from where they start you? The pictures look pretty long, but would you say 30 seconds or so? 2. Ceremony Music: Did you have music during your ceremony? I have specific songs that I want to play via an ipod or sound system. Did you use that? If so, did you think it was loud enough. 3. Mic: Did you use a mic for the ceremony? If so, did the hotel provide it or did your DJ? I'm officially at 60 days!!! I can't wait. Any information you can provide would be so appreciated. Thank you. You're the best. -Jessica
  3. Haha! Yay I'm doing my own template just on a powerpoint. I can show you it after I put a couple more together . I think then I'm going to just print some stuff off at Kinkos and bound. LADIES: Vistaprint is having a deal on LivingSocial ($16 for $60 worth of stuff or $19 for $90 worth of stationary stuff). This sold out like a hotcake on Groupon when they had it, so make sure you snap it up today if you want it
  4. This is EXACTLY what I was looking for! Thank you It looks like I've got almost everything done for shopping...which was a ton of fun, so I'm sad to see that one end, but oh well. My wallet will NOT be sad, lol. I'm putting the OOT bags together now that I have all the stuff. I'm also working on a new project: a "Who's Who of This Wedding Crew" yearbook for all 90 guests. It's fun! I'm putting in a couple pictures of each guest, if it's a couple, I'm also including their wedding photo and date of their wedding. Then a fun fact about each person. My fiance is a bit of a comedian, so he's having fun with the facts about his friends. Also, for all of the mid-June brides, my dad just informed me that the day after our wedding is Father's Day (our wedding is June 15th)!!! How special is that?!!!! So now I'm trying to think of ways to incorporate a Father's day gift or aknowledgement for all the dads that will be there. I'm floating b/c it's officially almost two months away now that we've hit April. WOO-HOO
  5. Hey there! I can take a look for ya and let you know what I find. I'm almost 100% sure you can find the maracas in that color. I read online that there are a TON of vendors selling this on 5th avenue. I think they were around $1 - 1.50/maraca, but if you buy in bulk I'm sure you could talk them down. Either way, I'll keep my eyes pealed on the 8th and give an update on here of where to find them. I'll also look at the price of water for you...great idea!
  6. Hi Catgirl! Don't worry. You still have two months. As far as the actual wedding stuff goes, Alejandra will take care of everything so you don't have to worry about decorations. Programs are easy peasy, just go to vistaprint and pick out a pre-designed one, fill in some info and you're good. I wouldn't worry about the OOT bags. They are a "nice-to-give", but not a necessity. You can show your guests your appreciation in another way with a favor. My fi and I will be getting down there the 8th, a whole week before and actually staying on 5th avenue the first two nights so that we can get all of our "last-minute" shopping done. Did you want me to grab anything for you? I know you get there on Thursday and the wedding is Friday. I could pick stuff up for you and that way, it's all there at the resort when you check in. They also have a Wal-Mart near by that I'm planning on going to as well. I could pick stuff up for you there too if you'd like? I.e. I could grab some favors on fifth avenue (maracas?) and could grab candles and stuff at Wal-Mart and you could just pay me back when you get to Mexico. If they have a chalk-board at Wal-Mart, I could grab that for you too and you could just write your program on that. We went to a wedding in Wisconsin last fall that did that and it was really cool. Probably saved them some $$ on programs too. Haha...maybe you can move the wedding to the Sunday (16th) so then you could just use all my stuff since we're getting married there on the 15th. Kidding, but if it was a possibility, I'd be more than happy to help you out there too. Oh and if you wanted to get some stuff ahead of time, but aren't sure about the head count, maybe you could just round up to a safe estimate. That's what we had to do and it's worked. Most of the stuff you need to order in bulk will have pre-determined quantities anyways, so just go for the size that will give you a buffer if you have more than anticipated. Anyways, even though we haven't officially "met", we're getting married at the same resort a day apart so I feel like we've met in a kismet sort of way. That being said, I'd be happy to help you out since i'll be down there a whole week prior and will be doing shopping myself so I'd be happy to grab some for you as well. Honestly, it's not a hassle for me and I'd love to help out a fellow Iberostar bride This is time you should be enjoying, not stressing, so let me know if i can help! Take care -Jessica
  7. Hi Ladies, Does anyone have a legit wedding checklist? I've gotten a ton of stuff done already, but I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything and the checklists I'm finding online aren't detailed, it's just the "duh" stuff like, "get wedding dress, send invitations, duh duh duh". Haha...Megan, I feel like you are the queen of organization on this thread. If you have any lists you want to share, please post them and anyone else for that matter. Are you guys flying with everything or shipping down some items? I can't decide. I have a ton of centerpiece stuff, signs, programs...oh my god, I'm just realizing the huge pile of wedding stuff in my apartment is going to somehow need to make it to Mexico. I just keep adding to it, mindlessly not taking the size of the pile into consideration. But now that I'm picturing how much it's taking up a corner of a room and how big the pile really is..haha...this may be interesting. HA! Yay for Friday!
  8. Hi Future Mrs. Thomas! I'm the future Mrs. Berg (fiance is from chi-town like you). We're getting married there on the 15th and I concur...i LOVE Alejandra. Our travel agent went and did a site visit, met Connie and Alejandra and said they were a dream. I can't wait to meet them in person. Anyways, my fi and I are planning on gathering everything from 5th Ave. like yourself in regards to Maracas and little nic-nacs. from what I've read, there are vendors everywhere on 5th and you can negotiate prices. It's only a 5 minute cab ride (or 20 min walk) from the resort. Question: Are you mailing stuff down to Alejandra or are you just packing it and flying with it? I've been collecting a ton of stuff to bring down there (it keeps accumulating...haha), but can't decide which would be better. Take care! It's so close I'm so excited -Jessica
  9. Ummm...I didn't even thunk about the script. Hahaha. Jeez. Thank goodness for you ladies. Well, adding that to thw list
  10. All awesome options! You and your fi are the same height difference than me and mine...if you want a heel, you have some wiggle room. Haha...thank God for tall men with us taller women! I love all of your ahoe choices.
  11. Yay for June 15th! Haha. I LOVE those badgley heels. I was looking at them before too and haven't found wedges that I like more. Im with MK though, even though im 5'9, I feel 10x sexier in a heel...even just a 2 inch heel makes a difference for me. But some people feel just as sexy in a flat. If you're one of those people then id def go for the flat. Its whatever makes you feel prettier. I just got shoes in the mail and they are def going back. I put them on and got flashbacks to Easter sunday when I was little...I think its because thwy are white. Haha...maybe I'll be sticking with metallic
  12. That's really exciting Kard! I think we are going to end up at around 100. Not 100% sure, but its looking to be around there. Are any of you girls wearing shoes for the ceremony?I know this is a stupid question because we are getting married on the beach and toes in the sand sound SO much more comfortable. However im worried my dress will be too long to go barefoot. I think we are getti ng the runner so that will make it easier to do shoes, but just wondering what you ladies are doing. Thank you!
  13. If the hotel offers the service, then they will apply an outside vendor fee. Since they have a hair salon and spa at the hotel, I am positive that having an outside vendor come onto the presmises will either cost you the outside vendor fee, OR you just have to pay the day pass for your stylist (I think it's $50 or $100). I know a lot of girls have just gotten their stuff done on 5th avenue (5 min. cab ride from hotel). There are a lot of really nice salons there
  14. Lol. Don't worry. I've had similar dreams. My favorite thus far was one where my mom and maid of honor woke me up and I had completely forgotten it was my wedding day. I had gone out with my FI and friends the night before and was severely hung over (which is actually more like a nightmare b/c I can't imagine anything worse then being hungover on your wedding day!). I then was scrambling to get my hair, find my dress and make it to the alter. I've had a bunch of other ones too where I forget things. It's like the school dreams but worse. Lol.
  15. Natalie, I LOVE this look! It's perfect. We're doing white Perry Ellis pants and a teal linen shirt from Island Importers for the guys (long sleeve, then rolled up). The Perry Ellis pants are linen mixed with other fabrics, so it's not as wrinkly as linen, but it does have a breezy feel. MK - I agree with you girls, this board is my new addiction with the wedding planning b/c I get SO much useful information and ideas from you ladies. I love it. Quick question - is anyone else worried about the heat factor? We're having our ceremony on the beach and at a venue that is open-air. I keep telling myself that the ocean breeze and night-time will cool it down, but just wondering what you guys think. I was at a wedding last August in Sarasota, FL and we were scorching hot, BUT...it was so much fun and beautiful, that no one seemed to mind the heat. I'm hoping that if it is hot...that that will be the case for our wedding Four months!! SO exciting.
  16. Hi ladies, My travel agent was recently in Mexico for a wedding conference and she stopped by the Tucan to snap some pics for me. She had nothing but wonderful things to report back and she said Connie and Alejandra were adorable, wonderful and passionate about their job which means we'll have nothing to worry about as far as the wedding goes Below is a link to the pictures. We're hoping to have the reception in the Tropical restaurant, but that's depending on if we have under 120 guests as that's the restaurant's capacity. We also were hoping to have the Welcome Party in the Jungle area, but it has a capacity of 80, so we can't do it there anymore. Ignore the cheesy captions, haha. I think the Marimba Steakhouse picture isn't labeled right as it is probably the Italian or Mexican one. Hopefully it works - ENJOY! https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=95b83792b46c634a&id=95B83792B46C634A%21218&Bsrc=Photomail&Bpub=SDX.Photos&sff=1&authkey=!AIW3rOwAZQ0v6_s
  17. We're just going to let the guests pick if/what they want to do as far as excursions go when we get there. They usually have stuff set up in the lobby so you can sign up for whatever you want the day of or the day before. It's one less thing you have to set-up and plan
  18. Beautiful! I can't wait to see the others. Welcome back and congrats!!!!
  19. I love the fact that we're doing a destination wedding!!! It forces me to not analyze over all fo the small, unimportant details that guests don't even notice anyways. That and the people you love and your fiance love will be together for days at a time and really get to know one another. So when the wedding day arrives, it's like one big family celebrating rather than people who only met an hour prior. I'd take that experience over having control over the details anyday. It's all about perspective
  20. My mom's the same way, but more about wanting to pay for everything than insisting on certain designs/aspects. At first I didn't want to have her pay for everything and it made me feel bad, but it was something that she felt strongly about wanting to do. I'm sure I'll be the same way if I have a daughter...it's just something a parent takes pride in. However, I did tell her we're doing the photographer and airfare, so that made me feel a little better. I have had friends who's parents didn't give a penny, so I guess we're definitely in the better position
  21. Hi Ladies, I love this thread! Whoever created it is a genius . We're getting married June 15th at the Iberostar Tucan, same as Catgirl (hi!). What legal documents do we need to bring to get married in Mexico? I've read yes to birth certifcates (also read somewhere that those are supposed to be translated), but also no to them. Also, what are you guys doing for centerpieces? I read on another forum that girls are using the paper lanterns since they're easy to pack...could do some cute stuff with those, but would love to hear your all's ideas. Congrats to all of you!!!
  22. Hi Amanda - That's frustrating to hear that they switched it after you already agreed to the prices Have you looked at other resorts? I know that each year all of the resorts raise their prices in the packages due to the rise in demand. When I booked everything last August, I noticed a jump in prices just from the year prior. If you do decide to do the Tucan, I can tell you I've heard nothing but wonderful things and Alejandra and Connie have been wonderful. My travel agent did a site visit back in November, met Connie and Alejandra and had nothing but rave reviews on the hotel and the staff. I'm not sure if that eases some concern, but either way, I'm sorry you are running into this! Let me know if I can give you any info that I've collected. -Jessica
  23. Trace - So exciting that you are leaving soon! It's here! Haha, can't imagine what you're feeling right now. I remember you saying that you were going to work with Jorge as you already had a reservation with him. I'm in the same boat and am very interested in hearing what you think of him. His prices are unbeatable and he's been extremely responsive. I am not really impressed with the work i'm seeing online with the new photographer they have onsite. I can't wait to hear all of your feedback! An early congrats and sending lots of well wishes! -Jessica
