You'll get there! The last 10 is the most agonizing! But once you reach about 3, suddenly you fly past 150 without realizing it! (or so my experience was....). I suddenly realized I had hit 150!

How are you saving up for your wedding?
Jenny2014 replied to Shine007's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
same with us.... May was a write off- didn't put anything away and actually had to dip in to pay for some expenses because we had so many things going on in May! No more! This Friday $500 is going back in there! -
all my years working with kids (over 10 years), has always had the 3's being far worse than the 2's. It's crazy! Oh man, the attitude of a 4 year old girl...... this is why I am TERRIFIED of having a daughter. Boys tend to just be honest and straight up with you. No real manipulating. But girls- masters at it! And my mom and I had a horrible relationship all through my teens, so I know that will be payback galore. I literally LOL'd at your "cute is a self defense mechanism". LOL I wouldn't doubt it! Honestly, buying is so crazy to think about right now. But here in the GTA, renting a house just isn't worth it. You mind as well just save up a bit more and buy a townhouse- the rent on full houses is insane. I would suggest getting a TA- I don't want to have money discussions with family and friends. I would rather have a buffer between all that and just talk to them about the fun stuff, not the potential awkward conversations around finances. I think a big house (or two) is an awesome idea! My friend went to a wedding in LA, and they did that- rented out a house and nearly 15 of them fit into it! She said it was such an amazing weekend, so awesome idea! You'll get there, don't get discouraged! Just make it a challenge- you need to find 6 or 7 threads to post on in a day- whether it is just commenting something nice, like an idea, or within a current discussion (like this one!) it adds up faster than you would think! The attachments are just a bonus to the amazing ideas you get off of here. The OOT bags are incredible, and seeing people's pictures is pretty awesome. WO!, your ceremony script is done already?? Good for you!!!

Yikes, yes, 2 and 4 is very chaotic- but so cute! Question, did you experience the terrible 2's or terrible 3's? When I was a nanny/ worked in a day care, the 3's were SOOOO much worse than the 2's! Yes, shopping for a house will be fun! But that is still so far off.... at least until after the wedding, so not until late next year! I do check in though, within Mississauga every little bit, just to see what pops up! I want everything done early as well! I know it is wishful thinking and I will be a maniac the week leading up to the wedding, but I figure I have given myself plenty of time, and since we will know by the end of this August who has put their deposit down with our TA, and who will be looking on their own- I will have fairly definite numbers a year in advance! I love that! At least he is interested enough to see how it's going! So close! You'll be there in just a few days!

haha! It's so easy to get all worked up about things again. The thing with us, is our families aren't big either. Rather small actually..... we just aren't close with them, and neither are our parents. So I just didnt see whyyyyy it was so important to invite their siblings, when, we havent seen them in YEARS. Yes, they could tell me my FI's name.... but that's because we were together for 10 years before all this! But the fact that the last time I saw my cousins was over 9 years ago, and now they have both graduated from high school and my youngest cousin has a baby now... like no, sorry, just is not happening. Our friends have, and always will be, our family. It has been the same close knit group of us since high school.... so yes, they get invites over family BECAUSE they are OUR family. And if people's feelings get hurt, well, too bad. We are taping the ceremony and will play it at our AHR when we come back... and alllllll those people are invited to that! (or will be....)

Oh we miss London terribly. Had FI not just gotten the job of his dreams, it was a consideration for us to move back there. While we enjoy the culture and the closeness of being to downtown Toronto, and we both grew up here, the small, slower culture of London we loved. And everything was sooooo much more reasonably priced! Plus, we liked the two hour buffer between us and our parents So now we are on a crunch- save and pay for this wedding, save to have a down payment for a townhouse here in Mississauga, and have a baby, all in the next 3 years! LOL We want a backyard for our future dog and children as well! How old are your kids? Oh god, our cat is our life. If something were to happen to him, we would be completely devastated. He is our "baby", and the love of our lives. You'll get to the 150 no problem! No worries- you'll find the longer you're on here, the more you simply just want to respond. People like to have their comments responded to, and because it's such a tight knit community, it's what we do for each other! We've been engaged since September and were on it right away. (That's me though.... a bit crazy and a HUGE planner). At this point, he just wants it to be over and doesn't want to talk about it haha.

and I miss our townhouse We lived in one while at university, and I miss it terribly! It was our first place together and we lived there for 4 years.... and as much as we love our apartment, and love that it is JUST us.... the space and price we had in London was just incredible versus what we are paying and how little space we have now that we moved back to Mississauga.

Yeah, luckily Bowzer hasn't wanted to do that yet. He is terrified of the height- when we pick him up and hold him near the railing, he freezes, or turns around and grabs onto our shoulders/around our neck. It's cute. But instincts are there, and if a bird were to land and fly away quickly, we know he would launch himself after it, forgetting where he was. So when they start to show, in he goes! I am sure you will find support and ideas to incorporate into your wedding here! So many ideas I can't believe how much closer my wedding is now... I rememeber telling FI we had been engaged for 6 months already, and now it's past that, and we are coming up to the time when summer is just going to FLY by and suddenly, it will be a year away! And then even less.... and then everything will pick up super fast! I can't believe we have been engaged for over 8 months already.... it is crazy!

Yeah, when we decided to cut waaaaayyyy back on our invites and only really invite the people we knew would be serious about coming/ that we really wanted there, my mother informed me that people would be insulted as they were expecting to be invited. I just looked at her and said that was there fault. We havent sent anything out yet, nor have we talked to anyone, so if people are "expecting" to get invited and aren't, that is their own disappointment, not mine. And she then told me that << I >> am the one who is going to have to call all my family and tell them they aren't important enough to me to bother to invite to my wedding. Thank goodness FI was there when she said that, because he quickly stepped in, saying it wasn't like that, and that it's not our responsibility to do that- people who are invited will know shortly. That we want a private, intimate ceremony with those who have been with us through everything, and you have actively been a part of our relationship. The others will get the invite to the reception back home. I was about to have a HUGE bridezilla moment and completely tear her hair out, so I was soooo glad he said something. My mom can be so condescending and passive- aggressive, it just irritates the sh*t out of me. </endrant> Whoops. HAHAHA. Apparently, I still have some hidden resentment to that conversation! Ahhh weddings, how they bring out the absolute worst and best in every relationship!

It really won't..... took me about a week of consistently posting about 10 to two times a day! And sometimes you just end up chatting asnd before you know it, you hit 25 in a day! I love sitting out there, and even standing up to the railing, but I do have moments, when I am walking and my feet get unsteady or something and it's a mini heart attack every time haha. I also freak out about our cat- he can be out there, sitting on a chair, but once he starts looking around too much, or see's a bug, it's into the house!
-
Even though I am not a newbie, I figured I would hope on over and help you out! I was out cleaning my balcony yesterday myself! Over the winter, there ended up being sooooo much sludge and gross dirt on our railing, so I was sitting out there, wiping them all down with a bowl and magic eraser! haha Only got about half of them done.... and the windows are my mission for this weekend! We have HUGE windows that face out to Lake Ontario and we can see the Toronto skyline, so it's a view worth seeing, but it's terrifying standing on a chair outside wiping them all down when I am 10 stories up, so I only like to do it when someone is home---- because you know, logic says if something were to happen, my FI would be able to sprint from the living room, out the door and catch me if I start to fall over the railing (that is actually about 2 feet behind me). Damn fear of heights- makes no sense to me!

Yup, so definitely need to get back into a fitness regime. It is finally warm up enough here to break out the capri's...... and at least mine from last year fit. But I was secretly hoping they wouldn't (that they would be too big!), but at least they aren't too small! So..... now it's game on. Warm weather = no reason to be a lazy, slob anymore!

paper-garden.com is where I just bought my cardstock and envelopes from. I will let you know the quality of it! They are a Caandian owned business and only ship to Canadian addresses, so it was sooo nice to add in only $14 in shipping and handling, as opposed to the 50 or 60 you usually see pop up when you don't realize it is an American company.
